A BIT OF BITE

Posted in Romance on March 7th, 2013 by Cynthia Eden

Hi, everyone! I hope that you are all doing well! So sorry to be quiet–I’m working on two stories right now. Trying to get them both finished by the end of the month. šŸ˜‰

I want to thank my readers for the wonderful response that DIE FOR ME has received! You are incredible!! And, yes, I will be writing more single title romantic suspense stories. I have actually *already* written two more single-titles that are dark and sexy like DIE FOR ME, and, as soon as I get release dates from my publisher,Ā  I will let you know.

In the meantime, I have some other info to share.Ā  First up…a new cover:

In 2011, A BIT OF BITE was released in the ENTANGLED anthology (an anthology to raise money for the Breast Cancer Research Fund). The rights to this story have come back to me, and I plan to offer it as a free read. I will actually begin uploading the story to e-retailers tonight, but it will take a few days for it to appear. Once it is live (and properly listed as free), I will be sure to post! A BIT OF BITE is a short story (containing approximately 11,000 words) that features one of my favorite hero types–the alpha werewolf. Here’s the blurb for you:

A killer is stalking the streets of Crossroads, Mississippi, and itā€™s up to Sheriff Ava Dushaine to stop him. But when suspicion falls on werewolf alpha Julian Kaseyā€”Avaā€™s ex-lover and the man who still haunts her dreamsā€”Ava knows that sheā€™ll either have to prove his innocenceā€¦or watch the whole town go up in flames.

***

By the end of March/early April, I also hope to have a new release ready for you–BOUND IN DEATH. This one is for all of the Bound fans who wrote to me and asked for one more vampire/werewolf book. BOUND IN DEATH will be longer than the other Bound tales, and I’ll be sharing its blurb very soon.Ā  For now, I’ll go ahead and share the great cover that Pickyme designed for me:

Now I need to head back to the writing.Ā  I’ll be back soon with more updates! And a sneak peek at BOUND IN DEATH!

TRY A KINDLE SERIALā€¦

ENTER FOR A CHANCE TO WIN A KINDLE FIRE HD!!

From Valentineā€™s Day through the end of March, three romance authors are combining to not only bring readers an easy opportunity for a chance to win a 7ā€ Kindle Fire HD, but also the chance to discover a new and exciting way to read books!

Have you heard of Kindle Serials? Itā€™s a blast from the past, where books are released in episodes in the same vein as in Charles Dickensā€™ day. Only, instead of getting each episode in a magazine or newspaper, youā€™ll get them on your Kindle or Kindle app. Itā€™s kind of like your favorite television shows. The ones that leave you hanging each week, anxious to get to the next episode and know more!

Cheryl Bolen, Kim Law, and Patrice Wilton each have a Kindle serial releasing, and are hoping youā€™ll give them a try! In return, theyā€™re giving away a 7ā€ Kindle Fire HD on April 1st, and will give away three $20 Amazon gift cards along the way. All you have to do to enter is go to one of their websites and answer a simple question about their serial. Want to enter three times? Go to each website and answer a question about each serial.

Additionally, after reading each episode, join the fun by chatting with other readers on the Kindle forums, and discussing how you think the next episode will play out! Links to the forums are found on each bookā€™s Amazon page.

Falling for Frederick, by Cheryl Bolen ā€“ Laden with mystery and suspense, Falling for Frederick is a fast-paced romance that takes place in contemporary England. Aided by the lord of the manor, a lovely doctoral student seeks a priceless medieval artifact ā€“ just a step ahead of those who’ve already murdered to get it.

Ex on the Beach, by Kim Law ā€“ Andie Shayne is getting ready to host the wedding of the summer at her resort on Turtle Island. As the guests arrive sheā€™s taken aback to learn that her ex–who left her at the altar–is the best man. What he did was unforgiveable, and now heā€™s back with an agenda for her affection.

A Hero Lies Within, by Patrice Wilton ā€“ Old secrets linger and two reunited lovers are faced with more deception and mistrust. Can their love survive a second time around? Jake Harrington left her once when her life was falling apart, and now heā€™s back, and so are all the emotions she fought hard to expel. Can she forget his bitter betrayal, and will he forgive hers when to save her career she must betray his trust?

No One to Trust, Book 1 – Red Stone Security Series

Computer security specialist Elizabeth Martinez has never been able to turn her back on her brother Benny. When his risky lifestyle finally lands him in harmā€™s way, Elizabeth finds herself dragged into the dangerous underworld with him and into the cross hairs of one of Miamiā€™s death-dealing drug lords. Only after her ex-boyfriend saves her does she realize she might have no choice but to depend on the one man she has tried so desperately to forget.

Former Marine Porter Caldwell never should have let Elizabeth walk away from him all those months ago. She means more to him than anything and now that sheā€™s in danger and turned to him for help, he wonā€™t make that mistake again. When a local gang targets her and sheā€™s nearly killed in a drive by shooting, Porter vows to do whatever it takes to keep her alive. Even if it means turning his back on all that heā€™s sworn to uphold.

Excerpt:

Lizzy opened her eyes and sat straight up in bed as she heard a low creak from somewhere in her house. Her heart pounded wildly against her chest as she eased out of bed. Something feltā€¦off. She didnā€™t know what it was, but could feel it straight to her bones.

Her house had been built in the fifties so it was always making settling sounds. The noise sheā€™d just heard could be nothing but she wasnā€™t taking the chance.

Porter was sleeping on her couch and Benny was still in her guest room. Sheā€™d checked on her brother an hour ago and heā€™d looked a lot better than he had when theyā€™d brought him home. A lot of the swelling on his face had gone down.

She tiptoed across her room and cringed when the floorboards groaned beneath her. Easing the door open, she peeked out to find the hallway empty. Good. Porter must still be asleep. She nudged the half-open door to the guest room all the way open. Her throat clenched at the empty bed. The sheets were rumpled but Benny wasnā€™t there. He always did this. Just left without saying goodbye. She should be used to it, but it hurt more than sheā€™d admit. When she felt wetness on her cheek, she brushed away a few stray tears that managed to leak out.

ā€œHe left fifteen minutes ago.ā€

She swiveled at Porterā€™s voice and barely refrained from screaming. Her hand instinctively flew to her throat. ā€œYou almost gave me a heart attackā€¦ You saw him leave?ā€

Porter nodded, his face an unreadable mask. ā€œHe must have called someone to pick him up because he snuck out the front door. I watched him get into a car and drive off.ā€

Anger punched through her, swift and hard even though it had nothing to do with the man standing in front of her. This wasnā€™t his fault. ā€œWhy didnā€™t you try to stop him? Or wake me up?ā€

His shoulders lifted in a casual shrug. ā€œHeā€™s a grown man. If he wants to leave, itā€™s not my business.ā€

She started to respond when she realized how little clothing Porter had on. No shirt and pinstriped blue and white boxers that did little to cover the bulge between his legs. Oh myā€¦ She forced her gaze upward but his entire body was drool worthy and she couldnā€™t stop her gaze from roaming everywhere.

His broad chest was male perfection. With a ripped eight pack and just a smattering of dark hair covering his pecs, he was all sharp lines and taut muscles. Sheā€™d never thought much about male legs before, but his were something sheā€™d definitely remember. Muscular and lean but not bulky. Runnerā€™s legs. Why had they never gotten naked together again? Right now she was having a hard time remembering her own name, let alone why sheā€™d ended things with him. She nervously licked her lips as she imagined what it would be like to wrap her own legs aroundā€”

ā€œDonā€™t look at me like that.ā€ His voice was a low growl.

As her eyes snapped up to meet his, she fought the heat creeping into her cheeks. Thankfully the only source of illumination was the moonlight streaming in from the blinds. She wondered how long sheā€™d been staring at him like he was a slab of meat. ā€œLike what?ā€ she whispered. Immediately she wanted to take the question back. It was lame and she knew exactly what sheā€™d been doing. Sheā€™d been undressing him with her eyes and she was only sorry heā€™d stopped her.

He reached out and tucked a wayward curl behind her ear. Instead of withdrawing his hand, he cupped her cheek.

ā€œLizzy,ā€ he softly breathed out her name.
