Kindle Me. Back to Blog
Update: The Kindle winner is: Amber Schaber. Congrats!
I bet you can guess what item I’m giving away just by the title, right? Because, yes, the next prize that I have up for grabs is a Kindle. This one right here.
When I was a kid, I loved to read fairy tales. As I got older, I transitioned away from fairy tales and started reading those wonderfully scary stories by Christopher Pike. I loved a good thrill and chill. Still do. And those early reads inspire me even now.
When I wrote my BOUND (vampire and werewolf) books, I used fairy tales as the inspiration for those stories. My contribution to HOWL FOR IT came from my unending love for the Little Red Riding Hood tale. Some stories just stay with you long after “The End” and, for me–well, it’s those stories that stay with me that I enjoy the most.
But what about you? When you were a kid, what stories stayed with you the most? Is there a story that you still enjoy today?
(You know the way this works by now, but…the giveaway will stay open until noon–Central time–on 8/29/12. A random winner will be selected. Good luck!)

Beauty and the Beast
I always loved Beauty and the Beast, even watched the tv series based on this tale.
One of my favorite books was from Maurice Sendak’s “Where the Wild Things Are.”
Even as a young girl I always loved romance. Cinderella has always been at the top of my list.
Star Trek and Star Wars. Probably had a little something to do with the idea that I always loved space and wanted (still do) to be an astronaut… but probably would have gotten into those anyway. 🙂
Lois
I started out reading horror stories and fell in love with Stephen King but then Kathleen Woodiwiss came around and I was hooked. So romantic suspense and paranormal fills the need for surprise and to be scared.

Sad to say I wasnt a reader in my youth but I also was never in the house – always outside. Had a fascination with horror movies. So I guess the ones that stand out are John Carpenter stories 🙂
When I went to stay with my grandmother when I was young in the summers she had a read-a-long record of fairy tales and I just loved Goldilocks and the Three Bears!
When I was young, I loved all of the fairy tale movies, but as I became a teen, I was more like you and loved reading Christopher Pike. Then it turned into watching scary movies and reading books by authors like Dean Koontz. I love watching scary movies too. It is hard to find one that actually scares me though. While I still love authors Dean Koontz and Clive Barker, I want the HEA now. I think that is why I love PNR so much. 😉
Harry Potter!! It is still my favorite to this day, and it especially touched me when I was a child.
I read a lot of Christopher Pike, Lurlene MacDaniel, and R.L. Stine books and still find them enjoyable.
Little women by Louisa may alcott
There is a book called The Wolf by Dr. Michael Fox. I read it one year in elementary school and after that I made it a point to read it every year. When I went to middle school I stopped reading it because they did not have it but I missed reading it. Then in high school I wanted to read it again but could not find it any where. I even went to my elemtary school to try and get it. She said it was gone. I then went to eBay and thank God I found it. I covet that book above all the others I have I just love the story.
I was obsessed with Nancy Drew when I was young. I couldn’t get my hands on enough of those books. I loved every one I read.

When I was young, I loved anything that had to do with Greek mythology and I’m still a big fan (I just like it a little hotter now!) 🙂
anything I could get my hands on. My grammy moved behind the library when I was around 9. I was in heaven. I just walked from her back yard into the library parking lot. usually daily during the summer.
I read “Mara, Daughter of the Nile” when I was young and I still have good memories of it to this day. I also liked fairy tales due to the “and they lived happily ever after,” which is still an important feature in books I enjoy.
I loved fairy tales and read them all as a kid. Sleeping Beauty was my favorite, and also Rapunzel.
Another fairy tale lover =)
I was and still am a sucker for fairy tales, now I like mine with a little heat! My fave was always Beauty and the Beast. The Beast can have many forms, but still always seems to have to learn the lesson of being humble. And it is always a ride I enjoy!

I started reading fairy tales and Disney stories, one of my favorites is Beauty and the Beast
