Thank you (and, why, yes, there is a giveaway…) Back to Blog
Update: The winner is… Mary Kirkland! Congratulations, Mary!
Thank you so much for tuning in and checking out MY DEADLY VALENTINE! The guest authors and fun posts will continue until that most romantic of days–Valentine’s Day. Tomorrow, the fabulous Anya Bast will be blogging, and other awesome authors this week include: Donna Grant, Shelli Stevens, and Beth Kery. Don’t miss out!
I also want to thank all of the wonderful folks who have read DEADLY HEAT–thank you! I have received so many great emails, and I am very happy that you are enjoying my latest Deadly book. The third book in the series, DEADLY LIES, will release on 3/1, and I’ve gotten such great early reviews on this book, including this one from Publishers Weekly:
“The heart-pounding sequel to Deadly Fear and Deadly Heat offers surprise and sexy romance at every turn. Still traumatized by a near-fatal encounter with a serial killer, FBI special agent Samantha Kennedy fights to prove herself by tracking a kidnapper who is targeting the sons of wealthy men. She’s also navigating an attraction to business owner Max Ridgeway. When Max’s stepbrother disappears, he and Samantha must race against time and the ever-changing whims of a brutal killer while confronting their troubled pasts and their shared passion. Eden’s characters are complex and likable, and her plot speeds along breathlessly to a surprising and sizzling conclusion. (Mar.)”
So, as a thank you to everyone, I’d like to giveaway a $15 Amazon.com gift certificate. I’ll leave this contest open until Friday. To enter, just tell me how you’d like to spend your Valentine’s Day.
And, since I was chatting about DEADLY LIES, I thought I’d leave you with a DEADLY LIES excerpt:
Sam wasn’t normally the type for casual sex. She was the kind of woman who went for commitment, romance, and candlelight.
No, she had been that kind of woman. Now she was different, and she needed. Needed to forget who she was and just feel.
Can’t work the cases. Can’t sleep at night. Can’t even close my eyes without remembering…
Sam took a deep breath.
Forget.
Right then, she’d do just about anything to forget.
Sam had left the crime scene hours before. When she’d gotten back to her place, the invitation to this expensive party had been waiting on her porch, courtesy of her meddling mother. The woman thought Sam might find a potential mate at one of these boring society gigs.
Sam didn’t want a mate. She just wanted a screw. Hot sex. Hard and wild. And she knew the perfect man to give her everything she needed.
Her perfect man stood across the room from her, separated by the crush of bodies. The party was too hot and too noisy by far with the fake laughter and high voices and the people who were pretending to be interested in each other.
Pretending. She was so sick of pretending.
Sam snagged a drink off a waiter’s tray. She downed the champagne in two gulps and pushed her way toward her target.
He’d know who she was. Sam didn’t doubt that. Well, he’d better know.
They’d had sex two weeks ago. Sex that had left her sore and aching and satisfied. Satisfied—for a time.
Until she’d wanted more.
She really hoped that the man remembered her.
She sure remembered him.
Max Ridgeway. Tall, dark, and sexy. The man who’d made her come in two minutes. The man who’d made her scream.
The man who’d turned her on to casual sex.
Max was lover number three in her lifetime, not that he knew that. She’d been sure to play the game. After all, she could pretend too. She’d acted cool and confident and made sure that she didn’t screw things up.
“You.” His voice, deep and rumbling, caught her, and she looked up to see him striding toward her.
Game face, girl. Get it on. Sam lifted her chin and let her lips curl into a smile that was as fake as all the others in the room. Forget. Forget everything but him.
Why try to pick up someone else when he was there? He’d be all she needed. He’d be…
Hot enough to banish the chill from her body.
Max caught her wrist and pulled her close. All around them, men stood in their perfect tuxedos and women smiled in their designer dresses. A high-end party. One packed with people who had too much money and too much alcohol.
His face—really not handsome, but sexy, so sexy—leaned in close to hers. At six foot three, Max was big and muscled with skin tanned a light brown. His midnight black hair curled just a little too long over the back of his collar.
The first time she’d seen him, she’d known that he would be the one for her. She’d gone into the bar, taken one look, and picked the strongest man in the place.
“You left without a damn word.”
Huh. Anger hummed in his words. She wet the lips that she’d carefully painted for tonight. Part of the mask. Normally, she didn’t care at all about makeup.
She’d come to this party for one reason. Him. She wanted more.
“I’m here now.” She rose onto her toes and whispered the words close to his mouth.
A muscle flexed in his jaw. “Baby, your timing is shit.”
I would like to spend valentines day curled up on the couch with my husband, a good movie, and a bottle of wine. Hmmm…maybe I am gonna have to set that up 🙂
Congrats again on your release. I just ordered it and can’t wait to read it!!!!
Leagh, that sounds like a fabulous plan! And thank you for the congrats!
I would like to spend Valentine’s Day someplace quiet and secluded with my husband. He travels alot for business so he has missed many holidays in the past few years. He WILL be home this Valentine’s Day so I’m sure he has something big planned.
Congratulations on all of the great reviews!
Stacie, I hope you and your husband have a fabulous Valentine’s Day!
I’d like to spend my valentine’s day at home with my hubby while he fixes me dinner and waits on me hand and foot. lol But we’ll probably order pizza and chicken wings and I’ll get a box of chocolates from him..
miztik_rose@yahoo.com
Mary, I like the hand and foot waiting idea best. 🙂 But chicken wings are awesome.
I’d like to spend my Valentines Day in a cottage or cabin with no Televison, no computers and no phones of any kind. I’d cook him a nice meal with a good bottle of wine and any desert he likes…
Oh, Lori, you had me at cabin…
fantastic excerpt. and on Valentine’s day me and the hubs will probably cook dinner together then snuggle down on the couch for a movie we choose on netflix or we may go to the video store and rent one.
Glad you liked the excerpt, Pam! And I must now confess to my giant netflix addiction. 🙂
I would like to spend Valentines Day with my husband at a nice restaurant, but I am sure we will be at home, enjoying a home cooked meal.
Home cooked meals can be super tasty–and romantic!
My husband just started the afternoon/night shift. This has never happened to use before and I miss him dreadfully. For Valentines, I just want to spend the whole day snuggled up close!
Sorry to hear about the change in shift! I hope your Valentine’s wish comes true!
With all the snow in the area I’d love to spend the day at a nice lodge with a huge window and roaring fire, comfy couch to curl up together and someone to bring us great food, and warm drinks. Sounds romantic.
Definitely sounds romantic!
I will spend my valentine’s day…. Alone. Well, my daughter will be home. But my hubs is working out of state and has been for the past year… SO…… **sniff sniff** It will be alone.
Thanks for thinking of us on for day!
Oh, Cecile, I am sorry he will be gone! Maybe you and your daughter can plan a special activity together.
mm I want to spend it on a Mineral Springs Pool after the three mile hike to get there where no kids are complained and I have a basket of delicious bread, cheese, and caramel apples.
Those caramel apples sound pretty awesome right now.
I would very much like to spend my Valentine’s with my hubby, a great movie and some snuggle time. Been a while, life has gotten in the way….time to change that I think 🙂
I hate it when life gets in the way.
My Valentine’s Day will be spent with tons of books and chocolate!
How can you go wrong with that combination?
I spend Valentine’s Day — doing the same thing I do every day. I am not a big V-Day person BUT if I could plan the perfect day it would be on the beach under a tent (since I don’t tan well) curled up with someone special just listening to the water and talking. <— that would be a perfect Valentine's Day.
Love you books!
If we were at that beach, I’d be under the tend with you–I’ve got that whole non-tanning problem, too. 🙂 And I’m so glad you enjoy my books–thank you!
I’d like to spend Valentine’s Day at the beach with my family! It’s too cold and white where I am right now and I’m so ready for Spring!!! Lovin’ DEADLY HEAT! Almost done!!
Thank you, Jocelyn! Hope you enjoy the rest of Deadly Heat!
Since I do not have someone special to spend Valentine’s with, I will enjoy the day with a wonderful novel in hand and treat myself to some candy! 😀
Get the tastiest candy you can find–that’s what I’ll be doing. Chocolates, I am coming for you…
Well, I will be in my night class. Since I’m not really into Valentine’s Day, I would say that I probably like to have some yummy chocolates to celebrate when I get home.
Chocolates are so perfect–on Valentine’s or any day.
I would like to spend Valentine’s Day on a cruise with my hubby. I am so eager to get away from this cold winter weather. Feeling warm ocean breezes sounds heavenly.
Cheryl, now you have me dreaming of cruises, too!
A perfect Valentine’s would be my husband and I at the beach for a long weekend; no pets or daughters.
🙂 Love the no pets and no daughters rule.
Wow! That excerpt is intense. It leaves me wanting to read more.
Since Valentine’s Day is a Monday, I’ll probably make something nicer than usual for dinner and we’ll exchange cards and presents. We’ll probably go out for dinner on Saturday.
But if I could pick my Valentine’s Day, dinner at a 5-star restaurant in Paris would be romantic. lol
Take me to Paris with you, Edie!! (And so glad you liked the excerpt.)
I’ll celebrate Valentine’s Day on the Saturday before since hubby will be out of town on Monday. We’ll go to his country club and have a nice bottle of wine, lovely dinner and a chocolate pyramid for dessert.
Now if I could do it any way I wanted it would be the two of us at The Ritz Amelia Island Florida, club floor, in front of the fireplace eating the small plates they put out while drinking wine.
Um, did you say chocolate pyramid? Cause that is awesome. Awesome. I also wanted to let you know that your prize has been mailed! It’s coming to you soon!
Yes, chocolate pyramid :). It’s huge too. We get one our anniversary too and bring it home. We eat it over the next two nights it’s so big.
I’m looking forward to my mail – thanks.
Right now looking out at the huge snowbanks outside my window I would say I’d love to celebrate Valentines Day on a nice tropical beach. But alas, I’ll settle for a visit from my daughters and grandkids and some homemade valentines from the grandkids. Since I’m having to watch my blood sugar I can’t even wish for candy, well unless it’s sugar free that is.
Homemade valentines make my heart happy–hope you get a ton from the grandkids.
I want to spend Valentine’s day reading on the couch, and chilling with the family, alas, i unfortunately have school. I can go for some good chocolate though.

Lovemusicgirlx94@aol.com
Maybe chocolate will make the school experience better for you, Taylor.
A nice dinner at home would be nice. We could stay in and watch TV or head out to see a movie.
Either with a good book or a good movie. Yes, I am lame
😉
Love, love this excerpt!!! So intrigued. As to Valentine’s Day, all I want to do is have a day to loll about! Never happens in my life.
I will be spending it with my mom at home! We will watch a good movie together. I will read a book late that night too. I look forward to reading your next book 🙂

I dont have anyone to be with this year. So I will be happy with a good book and a relaxing evening.
I would like to spend my Valentine’s Day with the boyfriend. I don’t really care where we go, I just want to be able to spend it with him. Sadly we will only have a few hours together in the morning because he has to work.
I would love to spend Valentine’s Day with my husband of nearly 19 years and a nice dinner sans children. A date night. I can’t wait to read this book!
LindaC
Would love to spend the day relaxing with my family. Perhaps ordering my favorite pizza and watching an action movie with Cherry Coke and popcorn.
Hey Cynthia! My husband and I have been married for almost 28 years, I can’t remember the last time that we went out for a nice V-Day dinner. Although we usually have fun as a family by ordering heart shaped pizzas and cracking open a bottle of wine. I haven’t had a chance to get the new book yet but I’m looking forward to it.
Not working I hope!
i work in retail and it’s hard to get a day off to correspond with my husband of 31 years. So maybe a nice dinner and movie for the two of us1
I just watch all the trailers they are absolutely
fabulous.
Well It’s just us two DH & I usually got for a drive into the park hope to see dear we take dry corn for the ducks & geese . There is a restaurant that we always go to then home for a quite evening.
Have a good one ANN.
I want to marry the love of my life on Valentine’s Day. And I’m going to. 🙂
Congratulations, Melinda, very romantic!
Thanks for the excerpt, Cynthia, and congrats on the early reviews. No SO around right now, so I’ll probably celebrate with family, and hope to end up indulging later with a box of Godiva chocolate, yum!
i’d like to spend valentines day in a hot bubble bath with a good book chocolate and wine at my finger tips is that to much to ask lol
Dinner and a movie would be how I would like to spend Valentine’s Day.
I usually spend the time hanging out with mu family.
A quiet dinner with my hubby at home, then watch a movie together snuggled on the couch.
I would just like to go out for dinner with my hubby to a Greek restaurant. We met in Turkey and lived in Greece together where our first child was made. So, a Greek restaurant gives us many happy memories.

Ok, I would like not to have to go to work and maybe I won’t. Right now I’m thinking about going to the Chocolate Spa in Hershey PA. I won a gift certificate and it expires soon. Not to mention they have some chocolate spa specials. Maybe then I can go home and have a nice meal with my family. I have to talk the hubby into letting me go. 🙂
Since we can’t celebrate DS1’s February 14 birthday on
the actual day this year, (as we usually do) I would
opt for an “us evening.” A nice dinner and a quiet eve-
ning together is our speed nowadays. LOL!
Since I don’t have a significant other, I would like to meet him and be swept off my feet. Hey, a woman can dream.

I’d like to spend my Valentine’s Day with my husband enjoying a special meal & time together.
Thanks for the giveaway!
Just a nice relaxing evening with the hubby sounds good to me. 🙂
