Your question is an easy one, or I should say two. I can’t decide which was the scariest. Both books by Stephen King… The Stand and It. Make that three, The Shining, also by the master, King. All three are my favorites.
The scariest movie was Halloween.
Alien 3 scared me really badly the first time I saw it. Also I thought that The Grudge was super scary.
The scariest movie I saw was Signs. It gave me way too many chills
Oooh, pick me, pick me!! Okay, the “creepiest” book I read and movie I saw was Misery. It freaked me out when I realized what Kathy Bates was doing with the block of wood and the sledge hammer!!!! She was a little batty. 🙂
Oh I am so excited about Deadly Heat and Deadly Lies! I think the scariest book I have read is “As The World Dies: The First Days: A Zombie Trilogy” by Rhiannon Frater. This book was scary and intense! I loved it! Not a big zombie fan but I loved this series!
I loved the first book in this series and can’t wait for more. I would love to win!
There are soo many movies I’ve watched that are scary but I’d have to say that Halloween would be the scariest – the remake that is!
Scariest book I guess would Christine Feehan’s Dark Prince, the first time I read it was really creepy, she was the first to have some major bad vamps (Carpahians), since then I’ve read so many different paranormal books that they don’t scare me anymore!
This is silly but to this day I won’t watch the original Nightmare on Elm Street because it freaked me out so bad the first time (could be because I was but a tween back then but still…).
the scariest movie was Saw IV and I couldn’t sleep after it…

I tend to shy away from scary books so lately the scariest I’ve read was Deadly Fear. I chewed off all my fingernails it had me so hyped up!
As a teenager I thought Flowers in the Attic by VC Andrews was scary.

The scariest movies for me. any/ALL of the SAW movies. I watched the first one, and it freaked me out so much…….*cringes* It is just to close to reality, and the fact that you know people out there actually do that crap!

Scariest book was probably a toss-up between The Shinning by Stephen King and Skin by Ted Dekker. Movie was My Little Eye about a group of people trapped in a house and being watched by a video-cam. Creepy!
A Nightmare on Elm Street was the scariest movie I’ve seen. Haven’t checked out the new version yet.
I think the scariest movie I’ve ever seen is The Exorcist, that movie scared me to pieces.

OMG Scariest book? It was written by John Saul, and it was called the Homing. I just remember this scene with all these wasps, bees, insect things in the walls of the house! I should also point out that I don’t read scary books 😀

I think the Saw movies are the scariest movies I have seen.
The scariest book I’ve read?? probably something by Bentley Little. He writes some pretty scary stuff, it messes with your mind.
Ack! I’m probably too late for the contest, but the scariest movie is The Birds. It’s scary because I see flocks of birds often as I walk. I don’t normally see men running around with bloody axes. Thank God. And some of those blurbs look pretty mean, too.

The scariest movie that I ever saw was (honestly) “Something Wicked This Way Comes”. I believe that it was put out by Disney in the 80’s, and it scared the (bleep) out of me.
Cynthia – I would love to win these books! I loved Deadly Fear and it was one of the scariest books I’ve read ever. Definitely the scariest this year. The Saw Movies are some of the scariest movies ever made. They are so scary.

I agree, the Shining was one scary movie. Another that was freakily scary for me was Helter, Skelter based on Charles Manson and his followers, because it’s a true story. The ways they so sneakily crept into homes with people unware. Right after I read it for awhile, I’d jump at those sudden house noises, or when I’d find something in my house out of place (something moved by a family member when visiting I didn’t expect).
The Shining really gets me everytime. And I only like the Jack Nickelson one. He did evil well. The Fourth Kind really creeps me out too. The Exorcist when that little girl gets that deep voice and her head goes. OMG!!
Once upon a time, when I was MUCH younger, I stayed up late watching a movie about Custer and Little Big Horn. When I went to bed that night, I turned on the lights as I went from room to room rather than turn off lights. It was so realistic that I was sure there was an Indian sitting out there waiting to take my hair! The sound of the arrow leaving the bow is still with me!
Scariest movie — the very first Jason Movie — I still have nightmares about that ending. My dad still remembers the scream.

The scariest movie for me was…ok don’t laugh…”The Grudge” I for some reason can’t even think about that movie w/o getting the creeps!!!

Scariest book was IT. Shudders I was only about 16 had nightmares for a while.
Um movie I can’t remember what it was called but again was only 15 and my friend and I watched this movie after watching Cujo. Was about Rottweillers that had been altered and got loose. After scary ourselves silly we would out to the garage to fetch something for my friends father. Well her brother growled like a dog and we were inside so fast our feet never touched the ground.
Well, at the time, it wasn’t such a scary movie, but I was alone with my partner on the ambulance watching Carrie. When it was over, I went to brush my teeth and I thought he’d gone outside. He hadn’t. And the sight of him startled me so much, I, uh, fainted.

When I was younger one of the scariest movies I watched was “It” by Stephen King. I didn’t like clowns before watching this movie but after it made me not like them even more!
Even though I think I don’t like watching scary movies, I have still somehow seen quite a few (usually at home when I’m alone). I think Stephen King’s “It” is probably the one that has stuck with me the most – still can’t really look at a shower drain or storm drain without thinking of that movie.
