Wed or Dead? Time to HOWL FOR IT! Back to Blog

Update: The winner of the Amazon.com gift card is…Shonna! Congrats! I will email you with your prize info. 😉

In less than a week (on August 28th!), my anthology with the awesome Shelly Laurenston will release! HOWL FOR  IT will be in the wild! So, from now until that date, I’ll be posting giveaways here on the blog (and doing some on Twitter and Facebook).  And, on the actual release date (again, we’re looking at August 28th! Woot!), I’ll be posting giveaways throughout the day then.  I did an informal survey a while back, and I asked readers if they would prefer for me to have one big release day party or if they would prefer for me to split the giveaways up more over time.  The responses I got were in favor of both options…so I decided to do both this time. 😉  I’ll still have a release day party, but I’ll also offer giveaways as we lead up to the release, too.

For today’s giveaway?  I’ve got a $20 Amazon.com gift certificate up for grabs.  Want to win?  Then you’re gonna have to talk werewolves with me.

The hero of my story (WED OR DEAD) is a werewolf. I have to confess…I just love werewolves. Or rather, I love the idea of them. (If I met a real werewolf, I would–of course–freak out.)  But…in fiction, werewolves are powerful. They’re savage. They have a wild sensuality. And they’re incredibly loyal and protective.  They’re a combination of men and beasts.  Primal instincts and human intellect. A great combination.  And I love werewolves for all of these reasons.  Now, sure, the change from man to beast may not be the sexiest thing ever, but it’s the man inside the beast that gets me.

What gets you? What do you like (or not like) about werewolves? Tell me, and you’ll be entered in my giveaway.  I will leave this giveaway open until noon (Central time) tomorrow. Then I will randomly pick the winner.

And, in case you haven’t read the blurb yet for HOWL FOR IT, here it is…

WED OR DEAD – by Cynthia Eden

Gage Ryder knew his human bride had a wild side. But spending their honeymoon night on the run from hunters out to finish him and his pack is sure not the kind of fun he was looking forward to. No problem–Gage will do whatever it takes to lay bare Kayla’s secrets and find the truth.  If he can keep from being captured by his own seductive game.

LIKE A WOLF WITH A BONE – by Shelly Laurenston

Quiet little Darla Lewis couldn’t be happier when the most-feared member of the South’s rowdiest pack kidnaps her.  A girl gets real tired of being overprotected by her own shifter family, and there’s nothing like an oh-so-big bad wolf to start a pack feud, unleash her instincts–and have her surrender however and whenever she wants…

Update:  I’m giving away a copy of HOWL FOR IT over at the Brava Blog.

I find that as time goes on, I am wanting to read more books with hot wolves in it!! This book is just what I need to read.

  3. Brandy says:

I love the werewolf cause almost all of them will do anything to protect the woman they love including die for them but whats even more appealing is the ALPHA cause not only will he protect his woman with his life but his whole pack they stand together! They are fierce & wild but loving & brave!

  4. Kaylyn D says:

I love werewolf because they always seem so strong. They are usually extremely protective. Also because when they fall in love, they don’t hold back at all. They love with every ounce of their body & soul. Plus hot guys who have no problem stripping down, who wouldn’t love that. lol

  5. Delphina says:

I love all things shifter. The thing I love best about werewolves as opposed to other shifters, is their pack hierarchy. Seriously, though, I have a shifter problem hehehe.

  6. Andrea Bennett says:

They are all sooo big and strong and yet always have a softer side for women. Love them!!!

  7. SharonS says:

I am like you. The idea of a man with an inner beast struggling to get out…oh yeah. And they growl 😉

  8. Trace Quirk says:

I love how each author can make werewolves unique to their world yet stay true to their overall traits. They’re pack mentality, strength, etc.

  9. Lisa says:

I agree with the primal parts of the werewolf are all great features. I also love that they know their mate by scent…if only it were that easy.
The only thing I would not like is the body heat…I’m hot natured enough…wait maybe I am a werewolf! 🙂

  10. Peggy says:

I just loves wolves they are so pretty and i love the way they mate for life . I think that is best thing they only love once and with that love comes everything a person could dream of. The change sounds very painful but in the end they could keep your feet warm on a cold winter night.

  11. Diana Brown says:

Reading Harry Potter and Twilight (so jealous of all the YA books out there now) started me in the fantasy genre and I am loving all the adult fantasy out there! I have started reading anything with werewolves! Looking forward to Howl for it!!!

  12. Jolene A says:

I love werewolf’s and when they shift I want to see them in full on beast mode. Nothing is off the table and I’m pretty open to anything. I can say the one thing that bother’s me is Teen Wolf. Come on already, I don’t like the partial shift, I want to see Scott shift to full on wolf!! That would be the only thing I’ve come across that really bothers me

  13. Rebecca says:

Take all the comments above & insert them here, especially the inner beast. I think most men have those inner qualities if we encourage them … Protectiveness, deep & abiding love … Once they find their perfect love, at least (scent would help them. LOL). I think my husband is a Beta!

  14. Tonya says:

I love possessive and protective werewolves. The ones so possessive and protective they sometimes make big fools of themselves when it comes to their mate. I like them big and strong but with one look from their mate can bring them to their knees. And if they happen to growl “mine” well, that makes them even sexier.

  15. Amy S. says:

I love reading werewolf books. I love how alpha and loyal they are. They mate for life you know. 🙂 I love reading paranormal books and I usually read the werewolf ones. I’ll have to add this anthology to my wish list.

  16. Kristin says:

I love how they are all a bit rough around the edges but when they fall, they fall hard. There is no halfway about them.
Can’t wait to read the latest! Love all your work!

OMG!! Two of my all time favorite authors in one books is just manna from heaven…
Cynthia, I just like the animalistic nature of werewolves. They are tough and protective and loving to their mates. Thanks for having us celebrate your release with you.
Good luck with Howl For It 🙂

  18. Heather A says:

I love how strong yet sensitive they are. I also love that once they find their mate they are so in love, loyal and attached it can hurt sometimes. Oh and the growl!!!! There is nothing sexier than a man with a primal “I want you” growl and the intense state with those amazing eyes. Yummy!

  19. Danni T says:

Shifters are definitely one of my favorite characters to read about, especially wolves. I love the whole one mate thing. Congrats on the new release I can’t wait to read both stories.

  21. Chris Bails says:

I love wolves. I especially love an alpha wolf, they are sexy, fighters, strong, and take charge. A perfect example is your Bound series. I fell in love with the first book and had to read and love all the rest. I especially love Alcide from True Blood, Joe is gorgeous. I also love Jason and Richard from Anita Blake-Laurell K Hamilton, and Carrie Ann Ryan’s Redwood Pack is awesome too.
Wolves are just plain sexy to me.
Both these stories look great, big fan of yours Cynthia. Shelly’s stories are awesome also. Thanks for the giveaway.

  25. Linda B. says:

I love shifter books. I have to say that they are even better than vamps. They are just so strong and forceful. I can’t wait for this to come out.

  26. JenM says:

Shifters of all kinds are my favorite paranormal creatures. Maybe it’s because those instinctive urges are so strong, or maybe it’s because they are hot-blooded and can keep me warm at night.

  27. elaing8 says:

I like that they are alpha, dominant male. They are protective, strong and loyal. And loving to their mates and family.

  28. April S says:

I love Werewolves because they act like men are suppose to act, protective when needed to be, love faithfully to one person and to always be there. Their is nothing sexier then a werewolfs desire for his mate.

WOW!! I can’t wait to read this book.

  29. Raonaid Luckwell says:

What wins me about shifters especially were-wolves is when the author takes creative license and shakes what we know of lyncanthropes, making it their own instead of same ol same ol.

  33. Kym says:

Love wolves. I agree that they are my favorite kind of shifter. Love those alpha males 🙂

  34. RachaelfromNJ says:

    Hi Cynthia!
I love werewolves. Alot of the stories that I’ve read have werewolves that are loveable and they dont show the killer side of them. Recently I read some paranormals that had violent werewolves. I didnt like it as much. I guess I like my werewolves like Jacob from Twilight. I dont mind if theyre violent to protect the woman but I dont want them running around killing people because it’s hard to root for them then.

  35. Edie Ramer says:

It sounds like fun! Great descriptions and blurbs. I’m looking forward to reading this.

  36. Chelsea B. says:

    DEFINITELY that protective/possessiveness! The growly-ness doesn’t hurt, either 😉

  37. Patty C says:

    Hi Cynthia
I love the animal instincts that take over when they meet their mates. It’s so hot when the bite down and claim thier mate!
Great excerpts, congrats on the release!

  38. Regina Ross says:

I can’t wait for the 28th to get here and I love werewolves because they’re protective and strong. 🙂

    reginamayross@gmail.com

  39. Paraphina says:

I like most everything about werewolves, especially the protectiveness they have for their mates. But their is a line that can be crossed, between sexy protective and infuriatingly protective. If I had myself a werewolf, I’d be sure to keep his sexy behind in check from time to time. XD

  40. The Warrior says:

    They are so majestic. 🙂

  41. Cathy says:

Love those hunky alpha wolves….Cannot wait to read this one!!!!!

  42. Alexandrea Ward says:

I love that werewolves are so tall and usually broad shouldered. They are also fierce and very protective. Love it!

  43. Viki S. says:

Hi Cynthia – I can’t wait for my copy of HOWL FOR IT to arrive. I love werewolves but I don’t think I’d ever want to witness the change. It always sounds like it would be gross. When they are in their true form I think I would enjoy them. Nice and protective, strong and warm. How could I go wrong with that ;)? Thank you.

  44. Cynthia Eden says:

Thank you, everyone! I love reading all of the comments about werewolves! Lately, they seem to be my favorite paranormal being–and it’s odd b/c I don’t usually have a favorite!

  45. Lauren says:

Werewolves are my favorite supernatural creature too. I love the idea of an animal nature concealed within a human body.

  46. Texas Book Lover says:

I love that werewolves are all primal and protective…well that is after they get all “MINE.” Before that it is fun to watch them figure it out what the heck is happening to them. Plus they are warm and scruffy and that is just plain sexy!

  47. Barb P says:

Hey Cynthia!! You know that I have much love for our furry friends (as in werewolves)! I think that part of the reason that I like them so much is because of their strength and the fact that they are protective! It also helps that they have that primal nature in the sack ** Grin **!! Congrats on the new release and I can’t wait to get my hands on a copy to read it!

  48. Diane says:

I just love shifters in general; I’ve read yours and Shelly’s books and your shifters are excellent; they love their women like there is no one else out there for them; they protect, they talk, they listen and they love.

  49. Jane says:

I’ve definitely developed a deeper appreciation for werewolves since I’ve seen Alcide on “True Blood.”

  50. Stacey Marin says:

Werewolves are cool because they are protective 🙂
