Sammael isn’t a guardian. Back to Blog

Update: The winner of the $20 Barnes & Noble gift card is…May!

Guardian angels are the good angels. They are the ones who watch over us. They protect us.

Well, the hero of my new book, ANGEL BETRAYED, definitely doesn’t belong in the “guardian” category.  Sammael (Sam) is an angel of death. With one touch, he kills. He’s used to doing what he wants, when he wants.  He’s strong, he’s fierce, and he is definitely my favorite kind of hero.

"Eden offers compelling characters, sizzling sex, and breakneck action..."--Publishers Weekly

I don’t know why I like the bad boy heroes so much, but I have to confess…they are an absolute blast to write.  The bad boys like Sam walk on the edge. They make their own rules. And they don’t take crap from anyone.

Oh, bad boys…you are so much fun.

But the best part of writing a bad boy hero? Redemption.  And Sam, despite his powers and his wicked skills…he is a hero in need of redemption.  Sam was cast out of heaven, his wings burned away, and he was sentenced to live out his days on earth.  Now, other angels fear Sam.  No one gets close to him. And Sam thinks that is the way he wants his days and nights to be…until he meets my heroine.

The path to redemption isn’t easy.  But to prove that  man with a good heart lives within a bad boy’s body, that journey is necessary.

I hope that you enjoy Sam’s journey. It sure is a bit of a bumpy ride!

Now…want to win a $20 Barnes and Noble gift card?  Then tell me…who is your all-time favorite hero? Your hero can be from a book, from a movie, from real-life.  Just tell me your fave and you will be entered in the giveaway! The winner will be randomly selected.

Thanks for checking out my post!

Sam from the Lost Boys 🙂 What can I say, I had a HUGE crush on Corey Haim.

  2. Lucy D. says:

My favorite hero would have to be Demetrius from Tempted by Elisabeth Naughton. He’s such a jerk to everyone, but for a very nobel reason.

  3. Heather A says:

My hero is actually someone in my life right now. On Thursday my grandmother was officially announced dead. Friday morning seedier we could take her off life support she opened here eyes. She has just been getting stronger everyday. She is such a strong and amazing person! I couldn’t ask for a better role model for me and my own children.

  4. Theresa N says:

My all time hero is John Wayne in the movie Big Jake, I’ve watched it so many times I can just about quote it. Got to love a strong man doing his thing and protecting his family.

  5. Samantha G says:

My favorite hero is my father. He has been there for me for everything. He has been a protector and helps me with my two kids. I am a single mom. He doesn’t have to help, but has. He has been the father figure to them. I just know that he is the best role model for my kids and they know he is a hero to them as well.

  6. CrystalGB says:

Lisa Kleypas’ Derek Craven. He is strong, alpha hero who rises from dire beginnings to becoming a successful man. I love how much he loves his lady and will do anything for her.

  7. Diane says:

My husband! i know i can count on him for everything. He’s there when I cry, laugh, sing and dance; when I’m down, sick and worried; he’s my best friend, knows all my secrets good and bad and stands with me in all things.

  8. Cindy O says:

Wow there are soo many in books I wouldnt know where to start 🙂

But my dad is my real life hero. He still “bails” me out. Comes up for a visit and I hand him my to do list on the house and he has it done in no time. And then goes and bikes and walks a total of 10 miles. I couldnt even do 1 mile 🙂

  9. Marianne says:

Congrats on release day! My real life hero is my Dad, and right now my make believe hero(es) would be any of The Avengers!

  10. Viki S. says:

    Happy release day!!!!

My real life hero at the moment would be my sister in law because my brother in law died Sunday after battling cancer for 8 months and she has been a rock taking care of him the entire time.
Book hero is Wraith (Larissa Ione’s Demonica) followed closely by Niol (I believe the author is Cynthia Eden ;)).

  11. Tracy says:

My hero has always been my grandmother. She has been gone for almost 30 years now but she will always be my hero and the person I most look up to.

  12. Regina Ross says:

My husband in real life and Ash from the dark-hunter series for make believe:)

My husband is my hero. He has been through so much in his life but I get to watch his faith in life, in love and in the Lord grow everyday. He always makes me laugh, no matter how I’m feeling and can tell what I’m thinking just by looking at me. He is a fighter, and my inspiration.

  15. Krissy H says:

  17. eli yanti says:

my fave is reyes from darynda jones’s book 🙂

  18. Saydee Fox says:

My hero is Thor from the Avengers. I admire his strength and the way he stands up for what he believes in. Plus he isn’t bad to look at either.

  19. Danni says:

I don’t know. The first person to pop in my head is Judd from Nalini Singh’s Psy/Changeling series.

  20. Nikki says:

Hermione from the Harry Potter books. She’s got brains and is brave. She never had to put her life on the line but did the right thing.

  21. Annie says:

Hmm, hard to choose! Maybe Roarke from the In Death books! He has it all!

  22. Molly says:

My favorite current hero is Lassiter from Lover Reborn by J.R. Ward. I love that he starts out as a really crappy yet hilarious guardian angel, but then comes into his own by actually acting like an angel by caring and being selfless.

  23. Sheryl Nyary says:

I have to say that I have 2 heroes. First my dad because I can always count on him for anything! He is always there for me. The other is my grandmother. She has been gone for 18 years now, but she was the one that got me into reading and I will be forever grateful!

  24. Jolene A says:

I have two, Wraith and Con from Larissa Ione’s Demonica series. Love those two boys 🙂

  25. StacieD says:

I love Jason Bourne. Especially in the first film. He starts out as confused but by the end of the film he is determined to get his life back.

  26. May says:

    Westley from Princess Bride!

  27. Amy R says:

After reading some of the comments I think I am supposed to say my husband. While he is my real-life hero, I can’t think of just one fictional hero that is my all time favorite. I am a hero slut. Ha-ha. If I had to to pick one it would probably be Conrad Flynn from Misty Evan’s Super Agent Series. There is just something about him…

  28. infinitieh says:

My dad is my hero although recently my brother-in-law is rather heroic, what with taking care of his uncle who has dementia, helping my parents, and taking care of my adorable nieces. And let’s not forget that he actually married my sister. 🙂

  29. Michelle Bledsoe says:

My all time favorite hero is Duke from Syfy’s Haven. He is such an unapologetic bad boy. I simply adore how he is so adaptable to any situation and his snarky sense of humor. Not to mention that he is so adorable….

  30. Rachel says:

Of course I think my father is my hero. He is a Jack of all trades & ironically his name is Jack. He is a wonderful father to us kids & a wonderful husband to my mother. He is always there when we need him and he was a great example of what I looked for in a husband.

I have a comic hero who would have to be superman. I love me some superman.—Rachel

  31. Tina B says:

My real life hero is my mom. She is an amazing person and through everything that has happened in her life, she is still loving and there for us no matte what! I adore her. 🙂
I have several favorites when it comes to fiction, but I will give you just one…Dante Baptiste from Adrian Phoenix’s The Maker’s Song Series. He is dark, dangerous, protective, caring, lethal and a vampire angel. I am hoping he gets his HEA with his love.

  32. Megan G. says:

I guess my heroes would be my mom, dad and sister. They all show me how to be a better person everyday!

Fictional hero would be Dragos from Thea Harrison’s Elder Series. Love him!

    Thanks for the giveaway!

  33. Cindy W says:

My favorite real life hero is my dad. He is not my birth father, married my mom when I was 11 and adopted my sister and I. He had 2 girls from another marriage and we were raised as sisters. He never treated us different and I love him for taking responsibility for two kids from a guy that didn’t want to.

  34. Stephanie says:

In fiction — Mr. Darcy, hands down! He takes action with no expectation of being repaid or the heroine ever finding out.

IRL, my best guy friend. He’s in the Coast Guard and has seen some pretty crazy stuff. Anyone who jumps out of helicopters into the water to save others is a hero in my book!

  35. Karin Anderson says:

I have two. I just can’t pick between them.

Patricia Briggs’ Adam Hauptman from the Mercy Thompson series. He is the alpha wolf for the Columbia Basin pack. He protects Mercy, even though she is a coyote shifter (which is a natural enemy to the wolf).

Jennifer Ashley’s Ian MacKenzie from the Highland Pleasures series. Ian is believed to be mad by society. He cannot make eye contact, is extremely blunt and cannot understand emotion. He is both innocent and experienced. I just love him.

  36. Michelle McMichael says:

In fiction I am torn between Curran from Ilona Andrew’s Kate Daniels series and Hawke from Nalini Singh’s Psy-Changeling books.

In real life my husband is my hero. For 11yrs he’s always been there for me and he gave me three beautiful children. Even when our eldest was diagnosed with Autism he was right there every step of the way.

  37. Barb P says:

Hi Cynthia! Congrats on the official release day. I would have to say that my fav hero is my son! He has Asperger’s Syndrome and things will never be easy for him, but he continues to fight on. He has accomplished so much and I am sooo proud of him. He is my little (although not little any more at 20) hero. As far as fictional, there are too many out there for me to chose one. Thanks for the awesome giveaway and party!

  38. The Warrior says:

either William Wallace or Queen Elizabeth I

  39. Raonaid Luckwell says:

Mmm, I would have to say my belated grandmother and grandfather. Yeah the two may be gone from the world but growing up they were my supporters, always watching my back and lending a hand when I needed it. Sure makes me miss them.

  40. LadyVampire says:

I real life my hero is my mother. In the books, I am thinking about Ilona Andrew’s Kate Daniels or Curran. Hard to have just one favorite when there are so many wonderful characters in books.

  41. Suzieq says:

Favorite hero. Hard to pick one, but it would have to be firefighters. Each day they put their lives on the line for complete strangers in dangerous situations.

There are so many characters in books to choose from, I cannot say I have a favorite :).

  42. Maria pronounced Mariah says:

My husband is my hero! He is an amazing husband, father, brother and son! We have been together for just under 20 years and I wouldn’t trade him for the world!

  43. Rachel R says:

My hero is my mom. My father passed away a year ago this month but losing him has shown me how incredible of a parent and a person my mom is!

  44. Audrey A. says:

    Westley. “As you wish.”

  45. donnas says:

RL are firefighters – all of them. I cant imagine how they do what they do and I am so thankful that they do. The amount of courage it takes to run into a burning building is just amazing to me.

Fictional – is really a tie between Bones and Roarke. Both are awesome characters with such great histories and actions.

  46. Brandy Swain says:

Their are way to many in book life so in real life mine would be my Hubby, he always knows how to fix the things I break LOL 😀

  47. Vanessa N. says:

My all time favorite hero would have to be Superman.

  48. Lora Patten says:

Not to come across as a Bible thumper, but Jesus Christ is my hero. While I understand that not everyone “believes” he truly existed, I am one that does and for a single person to take the burden of everyone’s sins so that we may be forgiven is something that is truly hero material. To me, no one else either fictional or non fictional has ever done so much to save the world and mankind.

  49. Colleen says:

Fav hero of all time… my dad! He was a volunteer firefighter for many many years and a cop. Now retired, he still shares all of his stories.

  50. Lucy Nina says:

So many to choose from; real life or otherwise. So, I will say that my hero is the one who gave birth to me. Not only did she give birth to me but she raised me and has been there for me all the time. Without her, I wouldn’t be alive to have all of those other heroes I mentioned before.
