And now, a message from our sponsor… Back to Blog

Or, well, a message from me.  🙂 I hope you’ve been enjoying my Month of Monsters–I’ve sure been having fun reading all the posts and comments!  And, guess what? For Halloween, we will have a very special treat! Elissa Wilds will be here, and this is the treat she will be offering every commenter…

As a special gift from me to you on All Hallow’s Eve, I will be drawing a card for each person who comments. And I will post a very brief message message for you from….well…let’s just say, the beyond….”

Very cool, Elissa.  Thank you!

So be sure to check in on Halloween so that you can get your message.

I wanted to post a few quick notes…I’ve gotten in bookmarks for ETERNAL HUNTER and HOTTER AFTER MIDNIGHT (mass market re-release). I also have posters for ETERNAL HUNTER. If you’d like any of these items (while supplies last!), shoot an email to cynthia@cynthiaeden.com and I will send you some promo goodies.

Tomorrow, I will be posting a full list of all the winners from my Month of Monsters. Be sure to check out the list to see if you’re one of the (many!) winners.  I might even throw in some extra prizes.

And now, I wanted to share a little paranormal story with you. It’s short, and sweet.  🙂  I call it Premonitions. Here we go:

PREMONITIONS…

The way Kim Myers figured it, she had less than two minutes to stop the man next to her from dying.

Damn.

Cars shot in front of her, sending gusts of air whipping against her body, and the buzz of the busy street filled her ears.
Oh, yeah.  She’d seen all this before.  Been there, done that.

Her gaze drifted down Government Street.  A yellow Hummer should come by, horn blaring in three, two—

The yellow tank erupted on the street, horn screaming at the station wagon in front of it.

Now, well, now a man on a motorcycle should reeve up, engine growling and—

The leather clad biker streaked by her and the smell of the cycle’s exhaust flooded her nostrils.

Shit.

The scene was the same. She’d seen all of this before.

Her gaze darted to the man beside her. Tall guy, dark hair, glasses.  Kind of a Clark-Kent type fellow.  His face was partially obscured by a magazine, some science/techno journal.

She had to warn him.  Had to help him.

Even though he’d probably think she was crazy.

They always did.

“Uh, excuse me, buddy—”

The guy didn’t even glance up.

She reached for his sleeve.  Tugged lightly on the coat.  “Uh, buddy—”

Nothing.

From the corner of her eye, she saw the bus turn the corner.  A long, sleek gray bus. The bus that would kill Mr. Oblivious next to her.

She’d had a vision of him.  Seen him stumble into the street.  Seen the bus plow into him.  Seen the blood, the death.
She had to get him away from that street corner. Because her visions were never wrong.

Never.

Kim took a deep breath and, with both hands, she reached for the lapels of the guy’s too expensive looking coat.

He grunted in surprise when she jerked him toward her and the magazine fell from his hands.

“Hey, what are you–”

His blue eyes were wide, a little dazed looking.

And the bus was just a few feet away.

No time for explanations.

He was trying to pull away from her.  Kim tightened her hold and did the only thing that she could think to distract him.    She kissed him.  Right on his surprised lips.

And…he kissed her back.  His mouth was warm on hers, hard, and, damn—he tasted good.

Her heart thudded in her ears.  The man’s hands came up, caught her shoulders and pulled her closer.

Using her grip on him, Kim pushed him away from the street.  One step.  Two.  Three.

His tongue brushed against her lips, and Kim stumbled a bit.  Okay.  So she hadn’t been expecting the guy to actually—

He growled low in his throat and his hands tightened around her.  His tongue pushed inside her mouth, thrust against hers.

Her nipples tightened and a curl of heat blossomed low in her belly.

No, she sure hadn’t been expecting this. The bus rumbled by them with a groan of its wheels.

Kim realized she’d just managed to save the good kisser’s life.    She jerked away from him, flashing a bright smile.  “That’s just fabulous!”

He blinked and his eyes widened.

A few snickers escaped around her.  Kim turned her head. The folks waiting at the street light were all watching her.       Jeez. Hadn’t they ever seen someone save a guy’s life before?

“Who are you?”  Mr. Lucky to Be Alive blinked and gazed down at her, his fingers wrapped around her upper arms.

She took a minute to fully admire him.  A handsome guy.  High cheekbones.  Long, straight blade of a nose.  Strong jaw.  Firm lips.

The front of his body pressed against her and she could feel the warmth emananting from him.  The guy was a little over six feet tall. He wasn’t a muscle man by any means, but there was a strong, hard power in his body.

Oh, yes, it would have been a pity if this pretty boy had been smashed all over the road.

Chalk another one up in her win column.

Now if she could just balance out all of those losses…

The people around them began to walk away as the light changed.  Kim tried to pull back, but the man’s hold didn’t loosen, not one bit.

“Who are you?” He repeated sounding a little lost, and the morning sunlight glinted faintly on lenses of his glasses.

She reached up and tapped his cheek.  “Sweetie, I’m your guardian angel.”  And, as fun as it was to stand with him on the street corner, she had a job waiting.  Kim glanced pointedly down at the guy’s hands.

A faint flush tinged his cheeks as he released her.

“Now, do me a favor, okay?” she asked.

“Uh, o-okay.”

“Don’t stand so close to the road—and try ditching the reading material when cars are flying by you.”  She gave him a quick wave.  “See you around, handsome.”  Then Kim hurried across the street, leaving the very much alive good kisser in her wake.

* * *

She’d kissed him. Him.  As a rule, attractive woman didn’t normally just come up and kiss him.

Elijah Straton McPhillips, IV, stared after the woman who’d just given him one of the hottest kisses of his life.

She was moving fast, her blond hair flying behind her.  He licked his lips as he watched her, and he realized that he could still taste her.

An angel.  Yeah, he could almost buy that.  She had the golden halo of hair, the perfect pale skin, but she also had a mouth made for sin.

When she’d first pulled him toward her, he’d been shocked.  The gorgeous woman he’d noticed a few times before, fantasized about, was actually touching him.

His angel was petite, with a soft curves that had felt so perfect against him.  She had big, chocolate eyes, a cute little button nose and a heart-shaped face that gave her a rather delicate air.

She was also currently heading down the street in a full run.

His eyes narrowed and a sudden determination filled him. He wasn’t going to let her get away from him, not that easily.

When the light changed, he took off after her.

Time to catch an angel.

Have a great Halloween!
