Want to write for Red Sage?

Red Sage’s first writing contest…

A Hard Man Is Good to Find…

And Finding a Great Writer Is Even Better

Red Sage has a reputation for finding the next big stars in romance writing. Our author roster reads like a bestseller list. We’re also known for being a tough market to crack, but now we’re giving writers an opportunity to see their names added to the list of Red Sage stars!

To celebrate the growth of the Secrets line of anthologies and the launch of Red Sage Presents, our e-books line, we’re holding a writing contest. This is a great opportunity for two lucky winners to grow along with us!

Here at Red Sage, we admit to a certain fondness for the alpha male. He’s powerful. He takes what he wants. And he makes that one special woman want what he takes.

Whether he’s charming or ruthless, passionate or stoic, the alpha male makes a great romantic partner for today’s strong, modern woman. And we want to see erotic romance novellas that explore the complex relationship between the alpha male and the modern woman.

There will be two prizes awarded for the best stories.
First prize will be publication in the Secrets anthology!
Second prize will be publication as an e-book!

Here are the basic rules:

1. All entries must be original, unpublished erotic romance novellas of 25,000 to 35,000 words in English featuring an alpha male hero.
2. To enter, send a completed manuscript as an rtf file to Submissions@eredsage.com with “Alpha Male Contest” in the subject line. Only rtf formats will be accepted. All other formats will be automatically disqualified and deleted unopened. Include your full name, contact information, and credentials (if any) in your cover e-mail.
3. Entries must be received by March 31, 2008, at midnight eastern time. You may enter as many times as you wish. By entering, you are certifying that your entry is your original unplagiarized work, that you own all rights in this work, that this work has never been published, and that you are willing and able to publish it with Red Sage. Any entry not meeting these requirements will be automatically disqualified.
4. In the event that none of the contest entries are deemed publishable, no winners will be declared. All entries will be reviewed by Red Sage editorial staff. All decisions are final. Non-winning manuscripts will be deleted at the conclusion of the contest.
5. For further tips on what Red Sage looks for in a manuscript, check our submissions guidelines at http://www.eredsage.com/Writers_Guidelines-sp8.html and our blog at http://redsagerevealed.blogspot.com/

6. There is no fee for entering. Winners will receive a standard Red Sage publishing contract offer with standard Red Sage advance, royalties, and other terms.

7. This contest is void where prohibited by law.

Page Proofs and Promo

Posted in Romance on January 13th, 2008 by Cynthia Eden

Sorry that I didn’t post more in the last week. I was doing page proofs for HOTTER AFTER MIDNIGHT and “Wicked Ways“–and, oh, wow, but doing the page proofs made the whole My-Book-Is-Coming-Out-Soon madness sweep through me. Then, the Magnificient M let me know that I’d be getting galleys soon–oh, yeah, seriously wonderful news.

And here’s a big hint: If you haven’t signed up to receive my newsletter yet, then you really should. Contests are coming.

I’ve also started to receive the first of my promotional materials. (More boxes will be coming. I’m still working on the design for my bookmarks.)

Um, yep, that’s a t-shirt for HOTTER AFTER MIDNIGHT. Overboard? Who? Me?

I’m going to be sending my promo items to upcoming conferences, and I spent part of the weekend autographing my materials (I always like to autograph the items I send out). If anyone reading this lovely post would like to receive an autographed cover image for HOTTER AFTER MIDNIGHT, just shoot me an email at: cynthia@cynthiaeden.com, and I’ll be happy to send you one.

I do promise to be a better blogger in the coming week. Really.

Have you sinned?

Posted in Romance on January 8th, 2008 by Cynthia Eden

Midnight Sins…available 12/08 from Kensington Brava

Atlanta police detective Todd Brooks is on the hunt for a rare killer–a female serial who leaves her male victims bound, naked, and dead in cheap hotel rooms. The twist: There’s no evidence of wounds on the bodies. It appears as if the life was just literally drained from the victims. Todd realizes the killer has to be Other–one of the many paranormal beings who walk the earth–beings that Todd has only recently discovered. The evidence in the killings soon leads him to the door of Cara Firon, a sexy club singer with secrets lurking in her sky blue eyes.

Todd falls for Cara, hard and fast, as any man would when confronted by a powerful succubus. However, Todd isn’t about to let his lust blind him to Cara’s guilt. He vows to take her, and, if necessary, take her down for the murders. What he doesn’t count on is falling for his chief suspect…

As for Cara, well, she’s not about to let some sick killer set her up for crimes that she hasn’t committed. Cara isn’t like the rest of her kind–she doesn’t want just wild, hot sex (though she does enjoy the sport); she wants love. Forever. The whole happily-ever-after that humans get. The more time she spends with her rugged detective, the more she realizes that she wants forever with him.

Unfortunately, the killer stalking the streets has other plans. If Cara and Todd can’t stop the murderer soon, then Todd may become the next victim…because the killings, they are very personal. And there is nothing like a revenge that is served up hell hot and death cold.

* * *

What you’ve just read isn’t the official back cover copy–I’ll post that a bit later (come on, it’s just January!), but I wanted to give a brief description of my succubus story. 🙂 Hope you enjoyed it!! Now, I’m afraid I must get back to a truly painful task: synopsis writing. Yeck. Not my favorite sport.

Medium–She’s Back!!!

Posted in Romance on January 7th, 2008 by Cynthia Eden

Finally,  finally–Allison Dubois is back. Medium will air again tonight on NBC, and, in case you can’t tell, I’m absolutely thrilled by this news.

I love Allison’s character–I think she is one of the best characters I’ve seen on TV in years. She’s completely normal–she has car pool issues, kid issues, job issues–but she is surrounded by the abnormal (that would be the ghosts she sees, the dreams she has). Normal surrounded by abnormal–a concept I’ve longed loved. I use that concept in my books–particularly in my upcoming Kensington Books. I like to keep a good, normal world as a base in my tales, and then layer it with paranormal events.

So, tonight, I plan to order Chinese, get comfy on couch, and see just what my good friend Allison has going on–I’m sure I won’t be bored.
