Writing Season Back to Blog

Halloween decorations are already up in the stores. Yep, giant spiders, black coffins, and laughing witches will now greet you as you enter Walgreens, Kirklands, Wal-Mart. And, I’ve even already seen a few Christmas decorations out there.

So, when I saw all these decorations, I got to thinking…Fall is coming. Just a few weeks away. I love fall–love the cooler weather, love the falling leave, love the trick-or-treaters. I also love the fact that it’s my writing season.

I write year-round. Write whenever I have the time, whenever the ideas strike. But there is just something about the months of September, October, and November–the ideas just flow faster for me then, flow easier. It’s always been this way for me.

I know other writers have said they write better at certain times of the day (morning versus evening), but am I the only one who writes better at a certain time of the year?

I find it difficult to write in December, because there is so much else going on, but I hadn’t noticed writing better or worse at different times of the year. I used to write better in the morning but now I find I can write whenever I manage to find the time.

This summer has been the worst for my writing, ever. I’m hoping I’ll write more in September. Something about the crisper air gives me energy.
