Time for an ARC Giveaway!! Back to Blog

I am in the process of getting some promotional mailings ready and I realized–I’ve got some extra ARCs! So how about an ARC giveaway?

On 06/29/10, I’LL BE SLAYING YOU will hit store shelves. But why wait until then to read my latest Night Watch story?  Someone can win and read now!

ill-be-slaying-you

Here’s the blurb:

Cynthia Eden returns to the realm of the Other, where the supernatural bounty hunters of Night Watch work hard and play harder…

Sandra “Dee” Daniels is a vampire’s worst nightmare. Sure, she couldn’t get up to five-six in the highest heels money can buy—not that she ever wears heels. But the monsters in her past and the stake in her boot are enough to keep most bloodsuckers interested in staying undead out of Baton Rouge.

But there are changes afoot on her turf. Rumors of a Born Master in town—a vampire so powerful he can make the streets run with blood. And a new face in Dee’s dive bars and alleyways—Simon Chase, a strong, sexy shadow with a haunted past of his own. Simon knows a lot about the dark side of Dee’s work. He knows even more about how to make her body spark with desire. But the hot lust shimmering between them is only the beginning. Because Simon also knows a secret that will change Dee’s life—if she can live long enough to uncover it.

***

I’ve got an excerpt up if you’d like to read a teaser from the story.

Want to win?  Then just leave me a comment and tell me the title of your all-time favorite scary movie.  I’ll let the ARC contest run until  Monday, March 29th at 8:00 a.m. Good luck!

And to get things started…my all-time favorite scary movie is…Lake Placid.  Not super scary, I know, but campy fun and with a nice little romance thrown in to keep me entertained.  🙂

Have a good weekend!

  1. I like Lake Placid! Expectually the end where the old lady is feeding more little alligators lol.

My favorite scary movies are the saws’. They always keep you guessing. Some of the scenes are kinda gross but all in all not to bad!

  2. Lost Boys!!!! Sexy vampires, need I say more?

  3. OMG!!! I WANT THIS BOOK BAAAD!!! lol

Fave scary movie – Stigmata – I totally freak out everytime I watch this movie. Did I mention how much of a wuss I am? No??? Well I am the biggest chicken when it come’s to scary movies…

  4. Sherry says:

not really scary but more suspenseful- Double Indemnity. Fred MacMurray is awesome in it

  5. Virginia C says:

NEAR DARK is my favorite Vampire movie. It scared the stuffin’ out me, but it’s still a one-of-a-kind movie! Everyone in the cast was super. Lance Henriksen and Tim Thomerson are two of the best character actors of all time! Love those two guys!

  6. Heather Brewer says:

I have to agree I loved Lost Boys. My fav scary movies are also campy, the Nightmare on Elm Street Series. The Shining is also very creepy.

I love the cover for I’ll be Slaying You.

  7. Cecile says:

All time scary movie… I am big chicken when it comes to scary movies… so I do not have a favorite scary movie. But if I have to give you one title that gave me the hee-bee-jee-bes… it would be Texas Chainsaw Mascare (?). Yea.. creepy!
    Congrats on your release Cynthia!

  8. Edie says:

Awesome excerpt! I’m glad you gave Dee her own book.

I’ll say Alfred Hitchcock’s The Bird, because it was so real, and I was young and impressionable when I saw it. (Once! I could never watch it again.) Even now, I’ll walk past a bunch of black birds gathered together and get the shivers.

  9. elaing8 says:

I love these covers.thanks for the chance to win an ARC.

Scary Movie-When a Stranger Calls….”The calls coming from inside the house” scared the bejesus out of me when I was a teenager.

  10. Christie says:

I don’t do horror with all kinds of blood and a guy with a chainsaw but I like thrillers and suspenseful movies. My favorite movie that scared me is 28 Days Later. I have a thing for dystopian movies and novels.

  11. I am not a really big Scary Movie watcher but there are 2 that stick in my head. Omen (the original) and The Shinning. I still get the shivers thinking about those 2.

    Congrats on the book.

  12. Ernest Scared Stupid. I saw it in the theatre as a kid and it scared me spitless, now I just like to relive the silliness and that slightly creeped out feeling. 🙂

  13. I’d say the scariest movie I’ve ever seen is The Shining. You know the scene where a terrified Wendy finds the huge stack of pages with “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy” typed over and over? That really messes with my mind! I like psychological scary more that slasher scary.

  14. Marisa says:

“The Changeling” That scene, with the ball going down the stairs… creepy

  15. Aimee says:

I’d have to say the movie that scared me the most was Nightmare on Elm Street–I couldn’t sleep for weeks (LOL)! But it wasn’t my favorite really, no, I’d go with Lost Boys or the Grudge for favorite 🙂

  16. delitealex says:

My fave scary movie is Howling. I love werewolf movies.

  17. I’m also a big baby when it comes to scary movies, so I guess my favorite would be the “Scary Movie” spoofs with Leslie Neilsen. 😀

Hey – just finished (and enjoyed) “Hotter After Midnight” and will be picking up Niol’s story on my way home tonight. Can’t wait! 🙂

  18. Danny says:

Okay, I am not so much into scary movies and I don’t think that Interview with a Vampire or Bram Stoker’s Dracula count. They are pretty tame

  19. CrystalGB says:

Love the cover. 🙂 I would have to say Halloween. 🙂

  20. jodie west says:

OMG OMG OMG I can’t wait for this!!!!!
    You rock Cynthia!!!
i’m not sure about my favorite scary movie, but i did just watch “The Fourth Kind” and that freaked me out!!! But it was a good movie i thought.
the movies that scare the heck out of me are all the SAW movies *cringes* ya don’t like them.
    Thanks for the opportunity Cynthia!
    JoJo

  21. Sayde Grace says:

All right so you had me at new story. I didn’t even need to read the excerpt to know I’d want this story! And as far as movies, none I don’t watch scary movies. I wouldn’t be able to afford the power bill! I’d never turn the lights off!

  22. Cybercliper says:

All time scary movie – Evil Dead – the movie that broke me from watching scary movies for all time. Thought I would have a heart attack watching this thing!!! The beginning warning to people with “heart conditions” should not watch should have been my first clue!!

  23. Can’t wait to read this! The scariest movie ever: Cape Fear. I couldn’t watch Robert Di Nero in ANYTHING for about five years after seeing this movie.

  24. Viki says:

My favorite scary movie is Halloween. It came out on paid TV while I was in college. I was very ill and couldn’t even lift my head as I lay on the couch scared sh****ss.
I really like Lake Placid too. Betty White is great!

  25. Catherine says:

The Changeling with George C. Scott!! Whenever I’m asked this question I name this movie and I’m the only one in life who has ever seen or heard of it, so how excited am I that there’s another comment from someone who has seen this movie!! But yes, that scene with the ball bouncing is soooo creepy. And the banging that echoes in the house. And the wheelchair that chases the woman out of the attic. And I could go on. This is truly one of the best scary movies I’ve ever seen!

  26. jennifer mathis says:

great exerpt. scary movie – oh the prom night movies but as a kid it was so killer clowns from outer space now i watch it and laugh but as a child i was petrified

  27. azteclady says:

Well, shoot, I’m out of the running already!

I don’t like scary movies, you see, so I’ve watched very few–and it’s all because of The Silence of the Lambs, which scared me enough that I couldn’t sleep at night for a few weeks after watching it!

Hold on, can I count that as a “favorite”?

  28. Barb P says:

Hey Cynthia! Boy this was a toughie! I have several favorites, but the one that pops to mind first is Cursed. Gotta love those Weres. Now on to more important business. OMG I want this book!!! Pick Me, Pick Me, OH PLEEEEASE!!!! Ok I’m done now. Have a great weekend!

  29. Joder says:

I would absolutely love a copy. I love paranormal books and can never get enough.

My all-time favorite scary movie is The Exorcist. Anything with demonic possession freaks me out.

  30. Karin says:

The book looks great! I love the cover!

As I’m not really a fan of scary movies, I don’t tend to watch them. However, if I were to choose my favorite scary movie, I have to choose Sleepy Hollow. There was just something about that movie that drew me. lol

  31. Emily says:

I agree with the folks that say they don’t usually go for scary movies, but I remember the movie Double Jeopardy really creeping me out, especially the part where she wakes up in the crypt with the dead guy. Yech!

  32. Taylor Z says:

Favorite Scary movie: i never watch scary movies and im not even sure these count as scary, but The Knowing, The Box, or Lost Boys.

  33. The Warrior says:

I would have to say The Omen/The Shining/Carrie and parts of Children of The Corn….

  34. Brandy says:

My all time favorite scary movie isn’t so much horror as scary. Stephen King’s The Stand is scary when you think about the battle between good and evil started by mans power struggle with world domination.

  35. Lisa Freeman says:

The Exorcist has always scared me! Watching that little girls head turn all the way around creeps me out!

  36. Cathy M says:

It’s a toss up for me, top movie would be Pitch Black, and a close 2nd, the Alien series.

  37. Jane says:

“The Exorcist” is an old favorite.

  38. Donna S says:

My favorite scary movie is Scream. But the one that still freaks me out is The Exorcist.

  39. Teresa W. says:

My favorite would have to be The Exorcist, love the scene with the pea soup!

  40. MichelleK says:

Yup, I would say Exorcist would be my vote too, but I don’t really like scary movies and avoid them as much as possible!

  41. Pam P says:

I’m not into many scary movies, but one I always remember is Hitchcock’s The Birds. Edie, I’m the same way every time I see blackbirds all across a telephone wire, I cringe and run to my car, all I can think of is them pecking out my eyes.

The other scary one that was a favorite, was Helter, Skelter (might have been a TV movie based on book), based on true life of Charles Manson and his followers. I find that especially creepy being true and thinking of how they would creep into people’s homes, moving things slightly to play games.

  42. Audrey A says:

I was pretty young when it came out but I’m going to say Jurassic Park. The T-Rex scared the crap out of me. But also I thought Alien was scary. I don’t really like scary movies that much I prefer SciFi and thrillers but 28 Days Later was pretty scary.

  43. Terry Forester says:

My favorite all time scarry movie is The Shinning. I love Jack Nickelson.

  44. Wendy R says:

OMG all time scary movie…(i cant say its my fave because dude…it totally freaked me out) was “Signs” with Mel Gibson. About the widower living on the farm with his bro and daughters and the aliens crop circles. Dude…I was soooooo on the edge of my damn seat. I was like DAMMIT SWING MORGAN SWING DUDE!!! LMAO!

  45. Tabitha says:

I wouldn’t say it’s a favorite because I’m not a horror movie watcher but Exorcist really scares the creeps out of me.

  46. Linda Henderson says:

Some of the ones that have already been mentioned creep me out, but The Hills Have Eyes was really creepy to me and I couldn’t even finish watching it. An old one would be Psycho.

  47. CatsMeow says:

Hi Cynthia, My all time favorite scary movie has to be The Exorcist. I was living near Washington DC when it came out. A bunch of us went to see the film in DC and afterward we drove by the “Exorcist House” and the stairs where the priest fell to his death. What a fun night that was.
Thanks for the opportunity to win one of your ARCs. Any book with the name Cynthia Eden on the cover is an AutoBuy, but sure would love an autographed one… =)

  48. Mariska says:

The Ring is my choice !
I love to watch this movie again and again but still it freaks me out !

  49. Leigh B says:

It would definitely have to be The Exorcist. Freddy, Michael, and Jason don’t have nothing on little twelve year old Regan (Linda Blair). Just thinking about the way she twisted her head around on her shoulders, and growled in that demonic voice makes me want to look under the bed and check the closets!!! What I wouldn’t give for a little holy water…wait, I’m not catholic. Well, better safe than sorry, right? AND let’s not forget about the movie being cursed. Did you know that an actor died during filming, and the little girl was injured when her harness broke? The creepiest part is that the interior set of the residence burned in a fire….all except Regan’s bedroom.

  50. Carol L. says:

I don’t usually watch scary movies but I agree with Elaing8. When A Stranger Calls scared the living daylights out of me in the scene where they say the call is coming from within the house.Still gives me the creeps. There is also The Hitchiker movie with Sean Bean.
