Movies? Back to Blog

I am so into escapism. (Yeah, that would be one of the reasons why I am such an avid reader.) I love getting into a story and being able to escape the pressures of reality, if only for a little while.

This weekend, the big movie that opens is the Watchmen.ย  I think seeing it is on my agenda.ย  ๐Ÿ™‚

But then, next weekend, there’s another flick I really want to see:ย  The Last House on the Left.ย  Now, I know The Last House won’t be for everyone, but there is something about that movie that is sucking me in–I’ve got to see it!!!ย  Maybe the draw for me lies in this one great line from the trailer:ย  “If bad people hurt someone you love, how far would you go to hurt them back?”

I’m always curious about what people would do in different situations, and, maybe I’m wrong, but this movie seems like it will be one in which the polite veneer people wear is ripped away, and you’re left with the darkness inside. Or, um, maybe I’m just into my RS story so far right now that deep and disturbed movies really appeal to me.

What about you?ย  Any movie plans on your agenda?

UPDATE: Totally, unrelated to movies, but I just read on Edie’ Ramer’s blog that voting for the CHASE THE DREAM contest has started. Edie made the finals–congrats, Edie! And I wanted to be sure and put up a voting link. Good luck, Edie!

Hubby and I LOVE movies. We will throw a movie in rather than watch tv 80% of the time. Movies rock the casbah!

I really don’t have any movie plans because I just don’t go to the movies ๐Ÿ˜€ something like 999 out of a 1000 I wait for the DVD. However, I might be lured to the theaters if something รผber amazing comes out. I’m wondering about the new Terminator myself…

Cindy, thanks for the shout out! I read the review of Watchmen in my local paper this morning and thought of you. (They gave it 3 stars out of 4.) I knew you’d go to see it.

We have different tastes in movies. I might see the Sandra Bullock movie that’s coming out soon. She’s usually in good movies. Also the Julia Roberts/Clive Owens movie. I’ll see the Harry Potter movie, of course. I haven’t missed one yet.

My hubs wants to see Watchmen. I haven’t been to the movies since I took the kids to see Nancy Drew two years ago. *G* But, hubs will go with a buddy to see the movies I don’t like and the kids grandparents take them to see movies all the time. I’d rather wait until they’re out on DVD and I can watch them in the comfort of my own home, with the snack I’d like and my feet up. *G*
    Congratulations Edie!

I don’t tend to pay too much attention to what is coming out but I know I want to see Race to Witch Mountain. I started seeing trailers for it at the end of December when I took my nieces to see Bedtime Stories as part of their Christmas gift from me. Ever since I’ve been wanting to see it. Some others I want to see this year are: Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, Transformers, and GI Joe. The last two because I have memories of watching the cartoons of them on Saturday mornings when I was growing up.

Nathasha, I am so looking forward to Wolverine. Oh, yeah. ๐Ÿ™‚

Azteclady, we are movie opposites! For some reason, I always feel like I *have* to see the show in the theater. But I’ve been theater crazy since I was a little kid. I used to go a drive-in with my folks. I blame them for my theater addiction.

Edie, congratulations!!! Every time I turn around, you’ve got more great news. I’m so happy for you!

Brandy, my husband really wants to see this, too. But, since I’m planning to make him see The Last House on The Left with me next week, I figured I could go this one with him. The fact that I want to see it is just bonus, too.

Hi, Karin! I want to see Race to Witch Mountain, too! I love the Rock. ๐Ÿ™‚

One that I forgot to mention–Public Enemies with Johnny Depp. Wow–can’t wait to see that one!

Cynthia, I would love to see the movies in the big screen myself–and I would if it weren’t for two big factors: the “meat locker” temperature at all my local movie theaters, and the lack of a “pause for bathroom break” feature ๐Ÿ˜‰

    Hence, the DVD for me.

  8. Fast and the furious 4 the trailer…
