Make me Shiver Back to Blog

First, I’d love to thank Cynthia for allowing me to be a guest on her blog today.

I have this thing that I like. For as far back as I can remember I enjoy movies, books or tales of spook or horror. Tales that make you stay up at night listening for that bump in the night. Make you pulse pound and you wonder what is around the next corner. All the things that make you shiver. I love to shiver.

In my opinion there are different degrees of shivering.

Slight shiver – this is the one, which only gives me a little thrill. A little tingle that feathers my hair.

Body Shiver – the body shakes, your heart pounds, sweat breaks out and you start looking around to see what is lurking waiting for you.

Shiver so hard my teeth rattle and I drop on my knees – this is when you hands shake, heart feels like it is coming out of your chest, you are sweating and wondering if that sound you heard is for real.

I can go on and on about all sort of shivers but I’ll leave at the few above. When you tell someone to make me shiver it can be taken many way. It can be sexy, scary or spooky. All those shivers can encompass so many emotions. One shiver can tell a story of how a person is feeling. The movement in it self is it’s own story. It’s amazing how much you can learn from a shiver.

Being October and the month of spooky I am looking for the scare me type. This is when there are lots of scary movies on TV. The time I pull out my favorite horror and thriller books. When I look forward to the decoration and so on. In all of them I am looking for that shiver that makes your hair stand on edge. Then you laugh in that uneasy way. Put your hands over your eyes and watch with fingers sprawled. And wonder why I let myself be scared like this.

I love it. After all it’s all about making me shiver.

I am not a huge fan of horrow movies, however my daughter LOVES them and LOVES to try and tell me about them. Sso either seeing a commercial or my daughter describing a scene from one of these movies with a child that has either become possesed or had some other terrible thing happen to it makes me shiver (and not in a good way!

Even though I don’t like horrow movies…I do love a great suspense book especially if it has some romance includes along the way!
    Thank!

Things that make me shiver…hmmm…that can be a tough question because I am the “scardy cat” type. My husband makes me shiver, but we’ll focus on the “scary” type. He is a prankster and loves to sneek up on me. Yes, he loves to do this and thinks it’s “cute!” When he gets home, he usually comes in really quiet and comes up behind me and grabs me and kisses my neck. I guess some would think that was sewwt, but I scream like a banshee and jump two feet in the air! It’s going to be interesting when we’re both 80-years-old. Although it scares me half to death, I love him for it 🙂

I don’t watch scary movies usually but when my daughter, who loves them, asked me to watch Scream with her, I did. There were times when I hid my face in the pillow, shivering and wondering what was coming next and o course trying to peek. But then I would see the knife slashing and back behind the pillow I’d go. I think what she really enjoys is seeing Mom shivering and hiding.

Ohhhh, shivers. I’d say scary movie music gives me the shivers. Like, it could be totally quiet or have soft music building up, then BAM, the music takes off and someone jumps out. . .

Yeah…that sends a freaking WICKED shiver down my spine for sure.

    Great post! Happy Monday!

    Fun post – thanks
What makes me shiver 🙂 breath on the back of my neck. As for scary shivers – spiders. They make my skin crawl.

The only scary shivering episodes I had were the real-life ones, like after I found out that my brother was okay. I held it together while he was unaccounted for, but couldn’t stop shivering after it was over.

  9. Colleen says:

    oooh different shivers!!!
Things that make me shiver: heights, me and ladders do not mesh well. Scary movies. broken nails, ugggh.

  10. Great blog! Let’s see…shivers. When everything around you becomes too quiet. That unnatural quiet, you know? Like when you work late and find yourself alone in the building…and it’s too quiet. I shiver then. 🙂

  11. I love horror movies, but they don’t usuallly make me shiver. I did jump a few times during Halloween I and II.

    Hi Taige 🙂

I haven’t read any of your books so very excited to check them out 😀

What makes me shiver and not in a good way is when I think I’m brave enough to watch scary movies or shows about real ghost encounters while I’m home alone. Let’s just say I jump at every little sound until my husband gets home…

  13. Kelly Thrash says:

Spiders, heights, and clowns. Well spiders and clowns make me run and/or scream but you know what I mean. I can’t run from heights I might fall. 🙂

  14. Edie Ramer says:

I’m not a fan of scary movies. My favorite shivers are when something really good happens and I shiver out of sheer happiness.

  15. Sorry I am so late in posting. Injured my hand over the weekend so typing one handed.

Thanks everyone for coming by. I enjoyed hearing all about your shivers.
