Holiday Songs (and a Victoria’s Secret Gift Card!) Back to Blog

Update:  Now you’ve got me humming…thanks for sharing your holiday tunes! The winner of the $25 Victoria’s Secret gift card is…Cindi C! Congrats!

We’ve talked movies, shared some great recipes, even gone down under for the holiday…but what about the songs? You know, those holiday tunes that just get stuck in your head?  We’ve already got a radio station down here playing 24/7 holiday music. Even when I sleep, I feel like I hear that music.  Going on and on…

There are some holiday songs that I love. Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer? Classic!

And Jingle Bells?  Of course! Love it! Even though my six-year-old requests that we always sing this version:

Jingle bells, Batman smells

Robin laid an egg

The batmobile lost its wheel

And the Joker got away. Hey!

There are some songs—and I confess this with shame—that I always mess up when I sing. I can’t remember the exact lyrics, so I kind of mutter my way through the song. Yeah, I’m thinking 12 Days of Christmas. By day 4, I’m lost.

What about you? What songs do you love? What songs do you—ahem—mumble along to b/c you’re like me and you just can’t remember the words?

The prize up for grabs this time is a $25 Victoria’s Secret gift card.  Good luck!

I love Carol of the Bells!!! it’s hard to find the good classical version ever since the techno one came out for people putting lights on their house.

  2. Terry F says:

The song that always gets stuck in my head once I hear it is “Grandma got run over by a reindeer”…LOL. Would it be bad of me to say that I do know all the words to The 12 Days of Christmas.

    I love Christmas Carole’s.

  3. Julie Kornhausl says:

I just LOVE Blue Christmas sung by the one and only Elvis! It reminds me of my dad. I love O Holy Night. I’ve heard soo many renditions of it, my favorite is Josh Groban’s and Michael Crawford’s. My kids and I love The Muppet’s version of the 12 Days of Christmas. I love Christmas music, but not before Thanksgiving!

Music is one of the joys of my life, so for me to pick a favorite Christmas song is difficult. One that does come to mind, though, is the Bing Crosby/David Bowie version of “Little Drummer Boy”/”Peace on Earth.” Another is “Merry Christmas, Darling,” by the Carpenters. For a more classic selection, I like “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.” I guess I could go on and on…

My favorite holiday song would have to be Jingle Bells. The beat is catchy and I find the words easy to remember because they go along with the beat.

My favorite christmas song is Rock in Around the Christmas Tree (I think that’s the name). It’s catch and it sticks in your head. It also reminds me of the Home Alone movie when he made his house to look like a big Christmas party was going on and it was just him home. I even bought my mom a stuffed signing Christmas tree (I named her Chrissy lol) and its mouth opens and closes and it bops around and sings to that song.

My favorite Christmas Song is the Peace Carol by John Denver. The lyrics of that song have always touched me, and I have always wondered why it isn’t a more popular carol. Grandma got ran over by a Reindeer brings me to tears. It makes me think of my belated grandmother who passed away 14 years ago.

She always had some snarky comment whenever that song came on the radio. Asking why it couldn’t be grandpa. Why it is so painful now to hear it.

    Rusty Cheverlet is another! LOL.

Wish Everyday could be like Christmas and Please Come home for Christmas by Bon Jovi. Gotta love him!!
