Historical Giveaway: A STORM OF PASSION and A STORM OF PLEASURE Back to Blog

Update: The winner of A STORM OF PASSION and A STORM OF PLEASURE is…Gabrielle J!

Sometimes, I love to get lost in a great historical romance, and Kensington Brava author Terri Brisbin is certainly skilled at writing such great tales.  Her latest book, MISTRESS OF THE STORM, is a powerful blend of historical and paranormal romance.

An epic struggle for dominance is ravaging the Isle of Skye. And in its midst, a man and a woman are locked together by fate—and fantasy…

Odious though it is, Isabel knows what she must do: go to the one known as the Healer, seduce him, and recruit him to her power-hungry stepfather’s cause. If she refuses, her innocent young sister will pay the terrible price of her disobedience. Yet after just one night with the man she must manipulate, it is clear to Isabel that even if she succeeds, the deceit will not leave her unscathed. For in the Healer’s powerful arms, her heart is lost forever…

Duncan of Skye knows there are those who would use his unusual gift for their own selfish gain. Even so, he yearns to trust the beautiful temptress who warms his bed and fills him with insatiable passion. And when he must choose between her future and his own, he may have to risk everything—even his life…

Check out an excerpt from MISTRESS OF THE STORM here.

Today, Terri is going to give one commenter a copy of A STORM OF PASSION and a copy of  A  STORM OF PLEASURE (the first two books in her STORM series).

To enter the giveaway…just tell me–would you make a good historical heroine (or hero, for any guys checking out the party)?  Why or why not? Terri might make a fabulous heroine (bet she’s done tons of research that would help her survive), but I’d be terrible at the task. I like my modern conveniences (such as my nice refrigerator) far too much. 🙂  One random commenter will be selected at noon tomorrow to win both books.

I love historical romances but I don’t know if I’d make a good historical heroine or not, I kind of liked history when I was in school but I was very bad at it.

Maybe given some time in whatever surrounding I was placed in and the right motivation I might not be too bad, but I don’t know.

I like my modern conveniences but I think I can live without them at least for a little bit, I’ve been to summer camp where we didn’t have very many modern conveniences so I’m not completely lost without my electric stuff.

  2. Larena Wirum says:

I would have to say probably not since I do like my modern conviences. LOL and of course I would haven’t either of my e-readers (the horror) LOL 😀

  3. Amy says:

I wouldn’t make a good historical heroine. I love modern conveniences a lot too. I also have a plump figure, and that is considered not beautiful in many historical periods.

  4. Keisha Talley says:

I think a good heroine should be witty, I love when I can laugh at the things they say and do. Would love to read this story.

  5. Casey H says:

Oh I’d be horrible. I need technology! And other things like a working toliet and chocolate! I cannot live without chocolate! (I know they had chocolate back then, but it wasn’t as available to the public.)

  6. Marianne says:

Would love to think I would make a good historical heroine but I would HATE to not have the modern conveniences of running water and ac in the summer!!

  7. Sara says:

I would be okay if I was rich. The reason being I would not have to cook or clean and I would have someone to help me dress it would be fabulous. If I was poor then no way!

  8. Barbara Elness says:

I don’t think I’d make a very good historical heroine because I love my modern bathroom (and other conveniences) too much and I love sitting around relaxing and reading a good book, which doesn’t really make a very good heroine, pretty boring I think.

  9. shadow says:

i would make a horrible historical heroine. i like my electricty for one and lets not forget the plumbing. but beside that, i couldnt take being some mans property. and im horrible when it comes to listening to others. i cant be bossed around and i wont dictate to a man. all in all, being a historical heroine is not for me. thanks for the awesome giveaway!

  10. Fedora says:

While I love to read historicals, I would be a terrible candidate for a historical heroine–I’m too lazy and not good enough at household stuff to stay alive in any previous era!

  11. Stephenia says:

I’d love to be a historical heroine since I can’t resist the idea of a strong man in a kilt, or a medieval knight with a sword (or two, smiles). I like the simpler times but I’d miss my air conditioner in the heat of summer!

  12. Joleen L. says:

I would love to say yes, but I really don’t think so. To spoiled by modern convenences, But I wouldn’t mind trying if Duncan was there!!!

  13. Sherie says:

I am a huge history buff. I love to read about the past and see how others lived. But take my iPhone and computer away from me and I would be lost!

  14. Maria (pronounced Mariah) says:

Nope I would be a terrible historical heroin. Me without a modern restroom or my kindle would not be good! Ha…restroom and Kindle…what a combination!

  15. catslady says:

I actually think I could do it. I tend to take orders well but can dig in my heels if taken advantage of lol.

  16. Jolene Allcock says:

I’m iffy on if I could do it. I’m not one for camping and hate going anywhere that doesn’t have electricity. I would be a mess if I lived a long time ago, though I would probably be a different person and obviously I wouldnt miss what I didn’t know existed. Personality wise, I’m a little weak and somewhat dependent on others, I’m not going to beat around the bush, I’m fully aware of my faults, but there ya go 🙂

  17. Renee Brown says:

I definitely would. I am independent yet devious enough to eventually get my way, much like our heroines. I just don’t quit.

  18. Heather F says:

I’d like to think I would. Especially if I had a tall, dark, and gorgeous man there with me. That would definitely be a must!

  19. Ren Puspita says:

I don’t think I can make a good heroine at historical era. I can’t live without my net connection, my computer, and my books too! And live without plumbing and hot water? Definitely not, LOL!

  20. Anastasia says:

I am do independent to make a good historical heroine and I really would hate the wardrobe required.

  21. Stephanie M says:

I prefer to be by myself and do not like having others make decisions for me so I probably would not be a good historical heroine.

  22. Cynthia and all —

Thanks to everyone for commenting today and helping me celebrate (distantly) the release of my book today!!

    Terri

  23. Crystal says:

If I was a wealthy historical heroine I think I could do it. As long as I could bathe everyday! LoL But I’d probably be gossiped about quite a bit for my independent ways.

  24. June M. says:

I would not make a good historical heroine. I would miss the conveniences such as indoor plumbing, internet and electronics, and of course the ready availablility of books.

  25. kristin nelson says:

We have had bad storms were I live and I’v been without power for the last week! It just came back on today actually(so perfect timing!)! I used to think it would be fun to live back in the old days but being without….. I really missed my technology and lights lol! Lighting candles at night at first was romantic but got old quick! Did i mention it was like 90 degrees out side!! lol

  26. Linda says:

I can do helpless pretty good. Would that make me qualify?

  27. patti silva says:

Id be a great historical heroine…not in london but perhapsthe highlands. I am an avid outdoorswoman and love a historical with a strong heroine.

  28. Tiffany K says:

I couldn’t be a historic heroine at all. Times have changed so much since then. I always have my phone, and laptop with me, couldn’t imagine going without. Also something I am very appreciative of now that it’s cold is the AC, I couldn’t live without that.

  29. Ashley A says:

Oh I would be a horrible historical heroine!! I love my computer way too much to be back in time lol

  30. Theresa N. says:

Hmm, I think if I had a hot heroic male to make me forget all that I was missing of the current world, life might be tolerable.

  31. JoAnna B says:

I would be terrible. I don’t like very restrictive clothing and I’m very verbal when it comes to things I don’t like.

  32. Betty Hamilton says:

I would make an excellent “lady-in-waiting”!! AND..I would desperately love the hero!

  33. Krissy Holstein says:

I think I would be a good heroine. I would do anything to catch a HOT highlander man;)

  34. Angela says:

I think I’d be a terrible heroine. I live in Georgia, in the HEAT, and I cannot imagine life without air conditioning!

  35. JoJo says:

I would say I don’t think I would. I love hot showers and toilets too much! lol never thought i would say i love toilets! rofl
