Highlanders for Christmas–A giveaway from Donna Grant Back to Blog
Update: The winner of Midnight’s Seduction is…Glittergirl. Congrats!
Are you starting to get in the spirit of things? Maybe humming a little holiday tune beneath your breath?
You’re a mean one, Mister Grinch
You really are a heel,
You’re as cuddly as a cactus, you’re as charming as an eel, Mister Grinch…
Well, our next guest is definitely not a Grinch. In fact, she’s one of the nicest ladies that I’ve ever met–DONNA GRANT. Today is also the release day of Donna’s new book, MIDNIGHT’S WARRIOR (Congrats, Donna!).
Thanks to Cynthia for offering a spot on her blog. I love when I have a release the same time as a friend, and Cynthia and I had a blast yesterday with the Twitter party!
When Cynthia told me the theme for the blog was going to be Christmas I knew I was going to talk about how my Highlanders and Druids would spend Christmas.
My Warriors – immortal Highlanders with a primeval god inside them – have lived centuries. Many of those shut away from the world. A few were leapfrogged through time by Druid magic to wind up in modern day Scotland.
You can picture the time they have with cars, planes, mobile phones, razors, and a plethora of things we take for granted. When my Warriors time traveled, I had to put myself in their shoes and think about how they would react to something they didn’t understand.
With most of my heroines Americans, they bring in different set of traditions and thinking to these medieval Warriors. In MIDNIGHT’S MASTER that released in May of this year, the story is set around Christmas.
With the Warriors and Druids living in a castle, they got to put up a massive tree, and the Druids went all out with the decorations, as women are want to do. As fun as it was to mentally decorate a castle for Christmas, the most fun was the interaction between the characters.
Imagine one of the alpha Highlanders receive his first present – ever. Imagine that same Highlander trying to find the perfect gift for his woman, especially when the concept of “shopping” is as foreign to him this modern world he’s found himself in.
With MIDNIGHT’S WARRIOR (Dark Warriors #4) releasing today, Ramsey and Tara would have a quiet Christmas. They’d definitely do the celebrating with the others at MacLeod Castle, but they would then go off by themselves to sit in front of a roaring fire, the lights of the Christmas tree and decorations adding to the warm glow of the fire.
While sipping wine with Christmas music in the background, they would exchange gifts. Tara would give Ramsey a Celtic Tree of Life carved into a piece of oak from the Torrichilty Forest in honor of his family.
Ramsey would give Tara a gold necklace with a puffed heart that had a single diamond in the right hand corner to symbolize her having his heart.
So what are you giving your significant other this Christmas?
Tell me and you could be entered to win a copy of MIDNIGHT’S SEDUCTION:
Here’s the blurb for MIDNIGHT’S WARRIOR featuring Ramsey and Tara…
A HEART IN HIDING
For ten long years, Tara has been a woman on the run, hiding from the magic-wielding Warriors and Druids of modern-day Scotland. Now, as a tour guide at a remote Highland castle, she hopes to finally escape her past—until one impossibly gorgeous man enters her life…and exposes her wildest secrets.
A WARRIOR IN LOVE
For centuries, Ramsey MacDonald has concealed his strength and skill as part Warrior, part Druid, for fear of unleashing the full force of his power. But when he takes Tara into his arms—and seals their fate with a kiss—Ramsey will have to fight for her love…though it may mean losing control of the magic inside him.

My hubby is getting Season 5 of the Big Bang Theory from me. He gave himself a sound bar with a big wireless sub-woofer for his “big ass TV”. He loves the theater sound, lol.
lol. At least he knows what he wants. 🙂
I have no idea what he’s getting this year. For the last two weeks he’s been complaining that we have too much stuff and when I ask about Christmas he sas nothing. Maybe I’ll get him an ax, he does need one.
Thank you.
Good luck finding the gift, Viki. 🙂
Haven’t decided on the exact item, but it will be something for his workshop. He loves all his tools and equipment and would rebuild our entire house if I ever let him loose with all his building toys…I mean tools…ha, ha. Truthfully, though, he is a wonderful help in keeping everything running smoothly in our place. Love that guy!
Sounds like my hubby. We’re DIYers. 🙂
This is a hard one, after 32 years of marriage and 32 years of “What do you want for Christmas” his standard reply of “nothing” because he buys what he wants when he wants it! I am at a loss – So I will probably give him a nice bathrobe and slippers – get ready to buy Sons of Anarchy Season 5 as soon as it is available.
Merry Christmas
Happy New Year
It does get harder every year to buy for them, doesn’t it. :S
My hubby will be getting lots of clothes (he is horrible about buying them for himself) and a Roky HD receiver.
kesummer69(at)gmail(dot)com
Sounds good, Kelsey! 🙂
No significant other… varied items for family members.
And more money for books for you, right? 😉
My hubby is deciding if he wants the newest ipad…. wish he would hurry up and decide!!
Oh, I love electronics. I’m such a sucker for them. 🙂
oh he’s also getting two pairs of sneakers and some nice warm fleece.
Warm fleece. Sounds good! 🙂
Playstation 3. He still has 2 from like 10 years ago. He never buys anything for himself so he’ll never expect it! Can’t wait! Plus I always wrap a big red bow on me for his present. I think it’s safe to say I got him covered. 😉
lol. Love it, Melissa!
He’s a tough one, getting him up a drill and a gun case.
He’ll love that.
Well normally i get my husband something he doesn’t expect or he doesn’t think he will get… This year we decided to just take care of the boys 9&3, and just santa jammies for us… I can tell you he got a new car last week (didn’t expect it) Happy Turkey Day/Christmas because his jeep finally died… poor man he was heartbroken… we were going to wait till next year to get him one but i told him… Its ok here is your price and this is the highest monthly payments can go… don’t go over it… Needless to say he is very happy with his new HHR (even if it isn’t a jeep.
We always get xmas jammies, too! 🙂
My hubby is getting a coffee maker, he just broke his last one and has been horrible dealing with him the morning!!
Oh and I make him cookies too, but I don’t think it counts because I eat half of them 🙂
lol. Marriage is part of sharing, so its only fair you get half the cookies. 😉
Congrats for the release of your book Midnight’s Warrior.
I have some of your books! I usually give my husband some clothes and a nice bottle of Scotch!
Thank you! Oh, if he likes Scotch try Edradour. It’s from the smallest scotch distillery in Scotland and what I based Dreagan distillery on in my Dark King books. 🙂
I’m giving my husband a special Christmas morning treat 😉 ok, ok, mind out of the gutter lol I’m just kidding….or am I??? All kidding aside, I have yet to decide what I am getting him for Christmas. I was so excited that the next book in the series that he loves releases the day before his birthday in March. He keeps asking when the next book comes out and I keep saying I haven’t heard anything and I secretly preordered for his birthday. I have been so excited for that, I have yet to come up with anything for Christmas
lol. I do that too, Jolene! Love surprising my hubby. 🙂
I had a blast too at the twitter party…you guys rock! Happy Release Day Donna! I don’t have a significant other but I’m getting my nephew some building blocks, he’s 18 months old!
Thanks, Timitra. I’m so glad you got to come out and join us. It was fast and furious but I had loads of fun.
Congrats on the release!! I have no significant other this year, so guess I have to get myself something from the guy that is sure to show up soon!!
Thank you! And I’ll share my Highlanders. 😉
i want to get him a Kindle Fire but right now i bought the first 2 seasons of Fringe for him. Still undecided about anything else.
Lisa B
Congrats on your new release!
Thank you, Lisa!
Congrats on the new release. I love your books. My dh wanted the 40″ tv that wal-mart had on sale for Thursday evening before black friday. Problem is our wal-mart gave the tickets out at about 5:30 for the 10 pm sale. Trying to find one at a similar size and price ($249)for him. Hopefully something will come up before Christmas.
Awww. Thank you!
Good luck finding the TV. 🙂
Unfortunately, there is no significant other this year :(.
That means you have way more time to spend with my Highlanders and Dragon Kings. 😉
After 42 years, sometimes I have good ideas and other times he just as soon go out and buy what he wants himself lol. My best gift to him was season tickets to the Pittsburgh Steelers – we had them for over 15 years and until we had children.
Wow. Season tickets is an amazing gift!
Husbands are so difficult but we have a way of fixing this little problem; I now get him GCs to his favorite stores: Home Depot, Cdn Tire and Tim Hortons.
lol. I love GCs Diane. 🙂
I don’t have a significant other, so my Christmas shopping is pretty easy. I’ll just buy something for myself instead, that’s always fun. 😀
Well, I’ll admit that I love buying things for myself. 🙂 Splurge this year. 😉
I’m overseas so I won’t be able to see my guy for Christmas (he visited me for Thanksgiving, though—that was a real treat!) but I’m thinking of getting him the soccer cleats he’s been eyeing. My soccer stud 🙂 Wish I could give him his present in person, though. Thanks for a lovely post, Donna. Love your books <3
Oh, Karielle, I hate that you won’t see your guy for Christmas. Hopefully y’all will be together soon!
And thank you! 😀
That is a tough one. Well I know he wants some tools. So I’m sure I will be getting him some tools.
Happy release day!
Tools have always been a safe bet for my hubby, too. 🙂
I’m sadly single, so no significant other shopping for me. save me some money I guess lol. thats what I read these books for! lol
I don’t have a significant other, but I have some nieces and nephews that I spoil on Christmas.
I still don’t know what I’m giving him. It will probably be DVD’s or books, which are always a favorite with him.
I have absolutely no idea. I’m one of those people that unfortunately wait until the last minute and then freak out trying to think of things to get
My hubby is so hard to buy for. He doesn’t really get into electronics or tools like most guys. He doesn’t really have a hobby except watching sports on TV. He will probably get clothes.
Not sure yet
I’m not really sure yet. I don’t have any suggestions from him. But I’m thinking of a golf cart, he has given little hints about that.
We have not exchanged gifts in years because we travel a lot and will buy a nice souvenier from that country and say, “Merry Christmas”!
I have to say, that I’m not really sure yet. I am a huge fan of the series and I can’t wait to read the new book! Thanks for the great giveaway!
nada.. no significant other..
Offically divorced this past August so I am giving him what he gave me every single Christmas for over 10 years…..nothing. Hahahaha!
A Lego Clock… at least that is what I am thinking for now…
Unfortunately, no significant other for me this year. So for now the hot highlanders and shapeshifters would have to do, until I find my one and only!
No significant other, but I am going to get my little sister some earrings. She just got her ears pierced so is in need of some really pretty ones.
Have to say nothing. We don’t buy each other gifts cause money is tight and we would rather get the kids stuff instead, It is a gift to us to see their faces lol.
Hi Donna. Congrats to you also on your release today.
We have been married for 36 years and it gets harder and harder every year. He is retired and all he wears are tank tops and knit shorts, so I think he is getting a new supply. Thanks for your giveaway.
Cathy
Happy Release Day to you also, Donna!!! 🙂
A Highlander for Christmas sounds like an amazing gift!
I have not idea what I am getting my hubby. He is very difficult to buy for. He likes to buy everything he wants for himself. Lol.
No significant other to shop for, so I guess it’s more to pamper myself with 🙂
None fore shopping for my famooy
i don’t have a significant other to shop for this year
I am still trying to decide what to get my beloved for Christmas. He loves hiking, the outdoors and travelling in general so am hoping to find something that is easy to pack, useful and can be used multiple ways without being a Swiss army knife…he already has one of those.
Well…he said he’d be content with the root canal (ouch!) but fortunately we found a laptop at a Black Friday sale that we couldn’t pass up.
Well, still working on gift ideas. I know he’ll want something techy. 🙂
My BF is a huge terry pratchett fan.. so im hoping to buy him a print signed by terry pratchett… if not, then he gets a video game, and a pair of glove liners suitable for texting
Congrats Donna on the success of your books. As you know, I am a huge fan and cannot wait to get my hands on some more of your yummy warriors My hubby is getting a video game. He loves to play and doesn’t get to very much.
