Time for another great book spotlight! This time, the spotlight is from awesome author Donna Grant.  Donna and I are actually release day buddies–her new book, MIDNIGHT’S LOVER, is in bookstores today!

A WARRIOR’S PASSION

Driven by the fierce god within him, Highlander Ian Kerr is sworn to fight for the land he loves—and the brother he lost. But when he’s magically transported four centuries into the future, he finds himself fighting his own desires—for a beautiful, bewitching woman who could hold a warrior spellbound…

A WOMAN’S MAGIC

Danielle Buchanan has heard the legends. She has felt the power of Druid blood in her veins. But she has never known a man as fearsome—or as haunted—as the warrior Ian. With her magic, Dani must help him battle an ancient evil. With her heart, she must join him in his quest. But only with her soul can she free him from his curse…and seal their fates together.

And the small teaser:

“Ah…Ian?”

“Aye?”

“I…um…I didn’t get you any undies.”

“Undies?” he repeated. The dressing room curtain shifted and he poked his head around it. “What are you talking about?”

“Underwear. Men – and women – wear them beneath clothes. Men can wear briefs that…um…hug the body. There’s also boxers.”

Danielle ran over to a rack and grabbed a pack to show him. Ian’s eyes crinkled at the corners when he saw the picture of the naked man wearing nothing but tight fitting briefs.

“I prefer to go without,” Ian said.

The thought of Ian naked beneath his kilt, and now whatever clothes they bought, made her body heat up and her heart thud in her chest.

“Danielle?”

She jerked, startled to hear Ian’s voice so close to her.

“How’s this?” he asked.

Dani let her eyes roam over the flannel shirt that fit snugly across his broad chest. He hadn’t tucked the shirt in, but it didn’t distract from his long legs encased in black denim.

“Is it that bad?”

She shook her head. “Not at all. Turn and let me see the back.”

“I doona think I like anything around my legs.”

But Danielle could certainly get used to it. “Try the next size smaller.”

“Smaller?” he asked in a choked voice. “Lass, I may no’ get into them.”

“Trust me, Ian,” she said with a smile.

I wouldn’t make a good time traveler because I am not very good at keeping things to myself. From everything that I have ever read about it, you have to be careful what you say and do because you may alter something in the future.

  2. Sheryl Nyary says:

I am not sure that I would make a good time traveler. I like all the comforts that I have right now. I am also afraid that I would screw up the future or the past because you have to be careful what you do there.

  3. LadyVampire says:

I would have to study the time in history books before I visited. I’d also have to know what was invented by that time and what wasn’t. So since a lot of time and studying would be required before visiting some place, I dont think I would make the best time traveler. There would be to much to remember about not doing, revealing so I did not accidentally mess up history.

  4. Rana Adams says:

I would so make a good time traveler! I would like to go back in time to the days of Merlin, Morgana and Arthur. Oh can you imagine the fun one could have with the knowledge we have today. Donna, congratulations on your new release and you are a new author to me and I look forward to reading Mignight’s Lover and any others if this is part of a series. Cynthia, happy release day to you! I have been waiting for this one to come out! Happy writing ladies!

    • Donna Grant says:

Thanks, Rana! ML is the second book in the Dark Warriors series (MIDNIGHT’S MASTER released last month), and its a continuation of my Dark Sword series.

  5. StacieD says:

I think I might make a good time traveler. I focused most of my studies on history and ancient civilizations in college. I would have some knowledge of how to behave and navigate other time periods. Although, I do love my modern conveniences. I’m pretty spoiled. lol

  6. Karin Anderson says:

I could make a great time-jumper…to the future. I’m sorry, but plumbing, q-tips and tooth brush/tooth paste are much too important for me to live without. I love reading about time-travel, though!

  7. Marianne says:

I would no doubt make a terrible time traveler. No electricity,no indoor plumbing, no cell phone. No way! Sneak peak sounds realllllly good!

  8. Cindy W says:

I don’t think I would make a good time traveler! Going back in time, I would not cope real well without modern things and for future… maybe!

  9. CrystalGB says:

I wouldn’t make a good time traveler. If I were to travel back in time I would miss the modern conveniences too much and if I traveled ahead in time I would be so slow at catching up with modern times that it would be obvious that I was out of my element.

  10. Lucy Nina says:

I would make a fairly good time traveler because I can adapt to anything. Eventhough I was bad in History back in elementary and high school, now I’ve come to appreciate the subject through the many reads that I’ve accomplished.

  11. Colleen says:

I am not sure I would make a good time traveler… I am not comfortable outside my norm. It would be interesting to see and experience, but I do not think it would be a fit for me.

  12. Vanessa N. says:

I’m not sure because although it would be fun, I’d definitely miss modern conviences. Although if it was with Ian those black denim, I would not hesitate.

  13. RachaelM says:

I don’t think I would make a godd time traveler. I wouldn’t be able to stand aside and would probably mess too many things up by affecting the future. It would be nice to observe past events though.

  14. Alex says:

Hehe what a cute teaser! 🙂 I think… in certain eras I would make an ok time traveler. I think I’d be pretty accepting with being there but I’d have a hard time with the language/customs and being somewhere with no proper hygiene or medicine! Thanks so much! 😀

  15. Linda says:

I would be an aweful traveler, i usually keep myself at home in my sofa with reading, so traveling and not only leave my home but the timeperiod i know? Not working. =) Especially when i wouldn´t make my first period without pain killers LOL

    best wishes, Linda xo

  16. Michele says:

Hi Donna!!!! Happy Release Day to you 😀

I would be a horrible time traveler if I had to go back in time. I LOVE all the modern things we have that I couldn’t handle not having things like air conditioning (very hot where I am right now). Now going into the future, that I might be able to do 🙂

Love your Dark Warrior series, look forward to each one 😀

  17. donnas says:

If I was going forward I could probably handle it. But I am pretty sure I couldnt go back. I am too used and accustomed to modern conveniences.

  18. Chelsea B. says:

Maybe, if I had someone I knew with me (Like Doctor Who, haha 😉 ) It would be strange, but cool…. I mean how could you pass that up?? 🙂

  19. Danni T says:

I would like to say yes, but the truthful answer would probably be no. I would probably freak out and start babbling incoherently.

  20. Sherry says:

I think I would make a good time traveler since I’ve read so many books on history and also the future. Of course I don’t know about no indoor plumbing. I might have to try to take that back in time with me. LOL!

  21. Raonaid Luckwell says:

Not certain if I would make a good time traveler. I am too pampered with our time’s necessities. But I could probably adjust. Especially if I could travel back to the time when the druids were plentiful, to learn at their hand. Yeah, in some snippets they say it took twenty years to be a druid… it would be nice to finally learn the truth and what was later inerted.

  22. Yadira A. says:

I think I would make a good time traveler because I would sincerely be interested in traveling through different time periods and adjusting to their customs. I don’t read nearly enough time travel stories though, but the ones that I have read have been fabulous.

  23. Savannah Miller says:

I would make a horrible time traveler!! I would try to impress everyone but predicting the future! lol maybe if I was mute and unable to talk so I couldn’t reveal things 😉

  24. Lora Patten says:

According to my husband I would make an excellent time traveler because he always tells me that I must have been born out of my time (as long as I traveled back in time, not forward, I am technologically challenged in this day and age enough LOL!). I would love to be able to travel back to specific eras and become part of those times. I think the biggest difficulty I would have in adjusting is the lack of sanitation/bathing, I would have to find a way around that 😉 I love the clothing from centuries past and even though the mannerisms are so much different then than they are in modern times, I would enjoy learning all of the nuances. Alas, I can only imagine what it would be like and live in the realization that we are all time travelers in our own way because we can look back upon our pasts and through our own ancestry, and we are traveling forward slowly and leaving our footprints for others to study.

  25. Heather McKenna says:

I would make an awesome time traveler, as long as it does not mess with my motion sickness!!

I would love to have to adapt the new times and beliefs and crazy happenings. I would want to bring all my Nook withe me everywhere though. I cannot be without books!

  26. Barb P says:

Hi Donna! I just picked up Midnight’s Master over the weekend but haven’t had a chance to read it yet, it’s next on my TBR stack. To be honest, I would make a horrible time traveler if I had to go to the past. I am pretty much attached to today’s conveniences (although probably not as much as some others). I would love to get my hands on Midnight’s Lover! Thanks so much for the awesome giveaway!

  27. Joyce Slostad says:

I would love to travel back in time and experience my own kilted highlander 🙂 but it would be hard to do without some of the modern day conveniences like indoor plumbing. It seems the heroines always meet someone rich enough to live in a castle and have lots of servants – that would be nice and make it a lot easier to deal with roughing it.

I’m in the middle of Midnight’s Master and loving it – the modern day twist is great and gives new life to the series. I read the warrior historicals and really enjoyed those as well. I’m really getting into the jumping into the future and the steep learning curve Logan has to cope with.

    • Donna Grant says:

Joyce – yay! Love hearing that. So glad you gave the continuation a chance. Logan’s book was one of my favorites to write. 🙂

  28. Maria pronounced Mariah says:

Nope, I like all the modern conveniences too much! I like my bathroom (shower & commode, etc.). I like all my electronics; esp. my kindle and cell phone! I like being able to cook with all the modern gadgets! I like my comfy clothes. The only thing I would like is not having to wear makeup and having someone else do my hair…I am terrible at it!

  29. Glittergirl says:

I would make a terrible time traveler in real life as I am an insulin pumper Type 1 diabetic. Maybe going to the future would work…In fantasy, I’d love to be a time traveler. I’d love to see all the architecture, wear those lovely clothes and dance at balls with a hunks highlander, sign…I love your books, I’m in the middle of Untamed Highlander (I’m a bit behind…)

    • Donna Grant says:

Glittergirl – love hearing that you’re enjoying the books. Hayden and Isla are one of my all time favorite couples I’ve ever written. 🙂

  30. Viki S. says:

No, I would not make a good time traveler. I get horrid jet lag when returning from England. It takes me SO long to recover. I just can’t imagine what I’d be like traveling through time ;).

  31. Jane says:

I’m not sure if I would be a good time traveler. I would be excited to visit a past or future time, but not sure if I could deal without modern plumbing or technology we’re not familiar with.

  32. Angela M says:

Hi Donna, thanks for stopping by 🙂

I’m really torn about how to answer this question, I can be very adventurous, but at the same time I’m a chicken, lol. I would be on the edge should I go, I shouldn’t go, should I go… so I would have to say, no I wouldn’t be a good time traveler since I can’t make up my mind 🙂

  33. Rachel C. says:

I do not think I would do well. I did not do so well in history class. I would probably mess up the future by looking for people.—Rachel

  34. jeanne sheats says:

I think I would. I enjoy variety and learning new things and meeting new people. I don’t mind roughing it once in a while lol.

  35. Jolene A says:

No, I don’t think I would, I love the here and the now and don’t think I could deal emotionally

  36. Molly says:

I think I would make a great time-traveler. History was always one of my favorite subjects and I often read non-fiction history books. I love to learn about how culture, mannerisms, dress, etc., used to be and how it’s evolved. Anyway, my brain’s a hotbed of random historical facts, which would be very beneficial for time travel.

  37. Michelle Bledsoe says:

I don’t think I would make a good time traveler. I like where I am now. I can read about the past and I don’t want to know about the future…LoL.
BUT, I do like to read time travel romances. They are among my favorite books.

  38. Lisa B says:

lol I love the sneak peak! Poor Danielle has to help a highlander out. I don’t know if i could time travel. I would probably muck it up and get myself killed on the first day. Might be fun but not on the long term i think.

    Happy release day!!

    Lisa B

  39. Patty C says:

Ha, great teaser! Congrats on your release!
I would be a great time traveler if it was only as “view only”. I would freak out going into the past or future where I could be seen and heard.
    Thanks!!

  40. Diane says:

I don’t think I would be a good time traveler;I like the indoor plumbing, the comforts of heating and AC; easy access to restaurants and mall; my car….

  41. Na S. says:

That would be so much to be a time-traveler. I have so many time periods and places I want to visit. I would make a good one. I would miss my creature comforts but I do adjust well and am quite resourceful. I’d be more curious than scared.

  42. chelleyreads says:

i think i’d be a bad time traveler because i’d try to change the past and that might have serious consequences. i’d also miss the modern comforts like having a car to travel.

  43. jeanette8042 says:

I wouldn’t be a good time traveler because I would probably accidentally cause a huge change in history

  44. infinitieh says:

With my allergies, I’d make a horrible time traveler. LOL.

  45. JoAnna B says:

I would be an awful time traveler. I love my modern conveniences. Particularly my bathroom and air conditioning.

  46. Ren Puspita says:

I’m not sure I’ll make a good time-traveler. Leave electronics, internet, and the most important thing, my books? I’m not sure I want to do it even I will meet hunky men in the past/future,lol!

  47. May says:

I don’t think I would make a good time traveler… Too used to modern conveniences… 🙂 Can’t even imagine surviving without my phone!

  48. Cris says:

I’d make a legend time traveller… as long as I could take my tech toys with me (I grew up in Asia, technology capital of the world, so cut me some slack! :P).

Okay, let me rephrase that– I’d make a legend time traveller if I got to travel to the future. The past would be interesting, but I really like modern conveniences like, say, a bathroom. And aeroplanes.

  49. Aretha zhen says:

Hi Donna, I do think I will make a good time traveller . I love history , adventure and to learn something new. It would be such a fun thing to travel to another time and maybe I could make a storybook based on it

  50. Rachel R says:

I would be a horrible time traveller! Lol I may be able to adapt to much but even I have my limits!
