Debut giveaway! Back to Blog
Update: Thank you all for the comments on this giveaway!! 🙂  The winner was randomly selected, and that person is…SMARTMOUTHTEXAN. Congrats!
Tomorrow, my friend Manda Collins will release her very first book–a wonderful tale of love and adventure that is being published by St. Martin’s Press. Just look at this awesome cover:
Here’s the blurb for HOW TO DANCE WITH A DUKE:
What’s a wallflower to do when she’s suddenly in need of a husband? Use all the pluck and moxie she can muster to get what she wants…
SHE’S IN NEED OF A PARTNER
Miss Cecily Hurston would much rather explore the antiquities of Egypt than the uncharted territory of marriage. But the rules of her father’s exclusive academic society forbid her entrance unless she weds one of its members. To clear her ailing father’s name of a scandalous rumor, Cecily needs to gain admission into the Egyptian Club—and is willing to marry any old dullard to do it.
AND HE HAS ALL THE RIGHT MOVES
Lucas Dalton, Duke of Winterson, is anything but dull. He’s a dashing and decorated war hero determined to help Cecily—even if that means looking the other way when she claims the dance card of Amelia Snow, this season’s most sought-after beauty. But Lucas has a reason for wanting Cecily to join the Egyptian Club: His brother went missing during one of Lord Hurston’s expeditions to Egypt. An alliance with the explorer’s bluestocking daughter could bring Lucas closer to the truth about what happened…or it could lead him to a more dangerous love than either he or Cecily could have imagined….

Since this is the first year in 10 years that both kids are in school, I am planning to go to lunch at a restaurant with my husband. After that we will head home & put balloons & streamers up for the kids & get ready for a little party & movie with them. I get the best of both world & I get to be with my 3 favorite guys.—Rachel
I would love to get a night alone with my husband.
What I would like to get for Valentine’s this year isn’t really for me, but for my Mom and Dad. My Dad had a heart attack and a quadruple bi-pass surgery on the 20th of Dec. He has been in the hospital and now a rehab center ever since. I would love it if he would be home by Valentine Day, so that they can celebrate it together.
Hmmm….valentine’s day…what’s that? LOL…having kids has always changed the holiday for us….so I just love to get anything that is hand or homemade from the kids or my husband. Hearts cutout and hung on the wall are always heartfelt…I’m not much of a material girl…I own one ring and that’s my wedding ring. Enough blabbing….point is: healthy, happy family with a nice homemade meal and = a happy valentines day for me.
Even though hubby and I both have to work on Valentine’s Day, we’ll have a nice dinner and me and kids will make heart brownies to eat with ice cream for snack. Then if I’m lucky a nice glass of wine and some alone time w hubby after kids in bed 🙂
i want to go to a log cabin with my love and have wine and dinner and curl up infront of a fire. live like it was first love all over again. you know them picture perfect memories, running around saying “you can’t get me” kinda moment.
I would love to get an offer for my book on Valentine’s Day. And then go celebrate with my hubby. 🙂
Hmm, my husband and I have never celebrated Valentine’s Day. I would really love it, if this year (this makes our 25th year together) if he would bring me one white carnation (my favorite flower), look me in the eyes and say he’s the happiest he’s ever been, and hug me. THAT would just be so fulfilling and meaningful to me beyond words!
Thank you for the giveaway chance.
What I want in Valentine Day? My boyfriend come to my place. We have long distant relationship for 3 years, just meet once for 2 or 3 months. And without him is torture. I don’t need chocolate and flowers. Being with him and spend Valentine Day with me is more than enough =)
Since my husband will be out of town working and I have a housse full of teenage boys, I would love a day of peace and quiet so I could enjoy reading or watching tv without interruptions for once.
Oh, and a b&n gift card. You can never have too many of those.
I will be celebrating with my son. Thats his birthday. He will be 7 this year. I wish it was a weekend so we could do something awesome.
A romantic getaway with my husband. I have been really stressed out since my mother’s death on January 13th.
Congratulations and best luck on tomorrow’s release, Ms Collins! *raising cup of hot tea*
Valentine’s Day? Well, currently single so not wishing for anything related–however I hope I get a raise soon! (so romantic, right?)
Currently single, but if I wasn’t I would love a romantic getaway.
ohh wow this book loooks awesome!!

Congrats on your new book! Valentine’s Day? My husband and I haven’t celebrated it since we had our daughter… Would love a getaway…
This book looks great! 🙂 Thanks for the giveaway!
Well, I already got my Valentine’s Day gift … an ereader! My hubby says it’s also my birthday gift, Christmas gift, Easter gift, and any-other-holiday-he-may-have-missed gift. That’s okay with me – I love it! 🙂
What I would love for Valentine’s Day: I would love a box of Chocolate, a dozen red roses, a bottle of champagne, a nice dinner and maybe a movie, but then again I am 64 years old and will enjoy a nice romance novel. The chocolate, roses, champagne, dinner and movie are for the young. So maybe I can win this book and sit back and enjoy.
In my dreams I’d love to have a MacBook or an IPAD. In reality I have asked for some new steak knives, or a new front door. Wonder if and what I will end up with.
I’d love to get a Kindle Fire but I’d settle for a nice box of chocolates, a gift card to Amazon for a couple of books and a meal I didn’t have to cook or clean up after…lol
Congratulations to Manda Collins on her debut release!
Thanks for the giveaway!
WOW what a awesome post.Congrats on your debut release Manda.I have everything I could possibly want for Valentine’s Day, I have a wonderful, handesome, awesome hubby,an awesome family, with awesome grands, health pretty good, but sometimes a little rough around the edges. So what I would love for Valentine’s Day is a day of peace, hope and happiness. I know a little mushy, but there you have it. HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY everyone.
I would love a sweet note from my hubby, hugs from my girls and someone to cook and clean for me that day!! That would be blissful…
First– the cover of How to Dance With a Duke is beautiful!
This year I’d like a nice evening with my husband, wine, cheese and a bag of Lindt truffles. That would be awesome:)Not always so easy to do with an 11 year old and two teen boys, but I’m hoping!
What I’d love to get for Valentine’s Day is a new robe and slippers, I could use them. I don’t have a significent other right now so my kids would have to get these for me but that’s okay.
My husband and I usually don’t celebrate Valentines since our anniversary is the 24th, but it’s always nice to have a nice quiet dinner together. I’m not working at the moment and we live with my inlaws until we can get back up on our feet. So any alone time will be lovely. Here’s crossing my fingers that next Valentines we can spend it in our own home again.
The first Valentine’s Day I spent with my husband was when we were going out together as students. He took me out for a candlelit dinner – at McDonald’s! Since then, Valentine’s Day has taken on a new meaning – we have two daughters who were born on 14 February, two years apart. How about a candlelit dinner this year? I wonder if McDonald’s still do them…
I want some books and a nice dinner out for Vday this year. With a horde of kids the best I can hope for is take out for dinner in and a movie but hey, I can always hit the bookstore for my own reads.
Ohh I want t candelit dinner and a new dress to celebrate a day of lovers.
A trip to some warm island would be great since it’s snowing in my part of the world 🙂
A night out with my best girlfriends since we’re all not in relationships.
I’d be happy with a slice of chocolate cake with lots of icing and a book to go with it. That would be heavenly.
hmmmmm. i think i’d like a yummy cupcake…eaten in bed….with some good music on the iPod….and my hubby….what are the chances?? LOL! 😉
Hubs and I don’t celebrate Valentine’s Day. He treats me great all year :). He’ll be out of town this year so maybe a call if he can get away.
To have my hubby and I continue to have another year of good health. To have a wonderful time at my daughter’s wedding next year. To have my son remain safe in his military career.
Like the premise of How to Dance with a Duke and hope to read it whether or not I win the contest. Good Luck on your career, Manda.
Congrats on your debut release, Manda. A nice card and some chocolate would be nice.
Yeah for the debut of How to Dance With a Duke. I’m looking forward to reading it.
What I’d most like for Valentine’s Day would be to have a nice dinner out and a cute, funny card.
That sounds like a fun book – thanks for letting us know about it, Cynthia. 🙂
As for Valentine’s Day, I have a dentist appointment that day, so I guess I’m wishing for no pain and healthy teeth! lol
As long as I have chocolate for Valentine’s Day, life is good. My father always bought the biggest box of chocolates for that day. I guess I am one trained puppy!
Some unrealistic gifts I’d love for Valentine’s Day:
1. A romantic getaway to Fraser Island (Australia)
2. A romantic, yet nerdy trip to tour Hobbiton (and surrounding areas of New Zealand
3. A relaxing vacation on some island with nothing more important than some sand, shade, great books, and a fruity drink requiring a cute little unbrella
Some realistic gifts I’d love for Valentine’s Day:
1. Chocolate – but maybe something healthier than the usual cravings-inducing fare
2. A massage; by a professional or the spouse
3. Poetry. He used to write me poems when we dated
4. A quiet evening in a log cabin, with nothing more important than some blankets, a warm fire, great books, and a warm mug of cocoa or hot toddies.
Sorry I couldn’t relegate myself to just one answer! And really, these are things I’d love just because – probably even more so if it weren’t for Valentine’s Day. There’s just something about getting a bunch of little things regularly that beats out a to-do one day a year, hands down. 🙂
