Dawn Halliday is ready for THE SWEETEST REVENGE (are you?) Back to Blog

Update: The winner of THE SWEETEST REVENGE is Heather B! Congrats!

It’s been a long party day…so I guess that means we should switch over and start talking about the party night!  Author Dawn Halliday is here to get us in the night mood. She’s sharing some of her holiday traditions and offering one lucky commenter a copy of THE SWEETEST REVENGE (which I think looks awesome!!). Dawn, thanks so much for coming by!

Holiday Traditions

I think one of the best things about the holiday season is the different traditions we share with family and friends. There are traditions that many people share (turkey on Thanksgiving, for example!), and traditions that are individual to families. For example, here are some of my family’s traditions:

(1) make sugar cookies from scratch and hand them out to friends and neighbors

(2) take down the Christmas tree on the 2nd of January

(3) open 1 present on Christmas Eve; the rest on Christmas morning

(4) sing and listen to Christmas carols while decorating the tree

What are some of your family’s holiday traditions? One commenter will win an early copy of The Sweetest Revenge!

Three Determined Women, One Fallen Man

When the Earl of Leothaid took Isabelle Frasier’s innocence, the resulting scandal drove Isabelle to England in humiliating exile. Seven years later, she befriends Anna Newton and Susan, Lady DeLinn, two other women whom Leo has similarly debauched and abandoned.

Isabelle joins with Anna and Susan to seek vengeance on the man who ruined them. But when her friends choose Isabelle as the object of their revenge, she faces an impossible choice: stand by Anna and Susan, or betray them by surrendering to her reawakening feelings for the wicked earl.

When Leo lost the woman he loved, he sank into a life of depravity and vice. Now, nothing and nobody can seep into his hard shell of a heart. But when three mystery women abduct him and shackle him in a dark cellar, Leo just might rediscover his humanity…and a love that may just lift him back into the light.

Warning: Revenge is a dish best served cold, and a woman scorned can deliver the coldest dish of all. Even a powerful alpha hero like the Earl of Leothaid will have no choice but to succumb to these women’s wicked plans…

Our favorite tradition is Christmas in the Park. It is free but donation are accepted. Every year usually a couple times We load up on hot chocolate and go out to this large park in our area. They have a huge drive thru Christmas Display. It usually takes about 20 minutes to get through it and at the donation booth they give out Russell Stovers Chocolate. This is all done for a charity set up to help children. Everything is volenteered and donated and all donation go this charity. So a fun feastive tradition that also gives back to those in need.

i love revenge stories. one holiday tradition we have is having a family reunion on new years day/eve instead of christmas because it’s one of the cousin’s birthday and we don’t want to take away from her special day.

My husband’s side of the family takes charge of the cookie baking with our kids and I take charge with the crafts. It is part of our tradition that we set aside a day to do a marathon session of both activities interspersed with playing boardgames and generally noshing.

  11. Minna says:

We go to get the Christmas tree from our own forest and watch the declaration of Christmas peace on tv (If you want to find out what that is, check out Wikipedia and YouTube). And in the evening we go to sauna before we eat and open the presents.

  12. ELF says:

We don’t really have a Christmas tradition (besides making the rounds to drop off presents)

  13. Kym says:

    Crepes on Christmas morning 🙂

  14. Shannon says:

We liked to open a present on christmas eve though it usually is a game or puzzle so everyone can work on it together that evening. Also santa brings one unwrapped gift and mom and dad provide the rest wrapped

  15. valerie mcqueen says:

One Christmas eve we each open one gift . The kids get to pick which one , but Santa is a tricky wrapper. Large gifts have a tendency to be just cardboard boxes lol while a Xbox has been wrapped to look like clothes…..keeps it interesting.

  16. Texas Book Lover says:

    1. Open one gift on Christmas Eve (used to always be Christmas PJs for my girls when they were little).

    2. Christmas morning breakfast at my inlaws after opening gifts at our house. (my daughters love this)

    3. We take turns opening our gifts in a big circle going from youngest to oldest. It makes it last longer and everyone gets to see what each other gets and see your reaction to what you got them. This is my favorite tradition!

  17. Shelly E says:

We don’t have any real traditions, unless you count opening gifts on christmas eve as a tradition :o)

  18. Heather M says:

We always go to the tree farm to pick out our tree and then cut it down. I love these memories!

  19. Alaina says:

i confess, we really dont have any! usually the weekend before, we put up a tree… food, food and more food…

  20. Kelsey S. says:

We don’t have too many traditions. On Christmas Eve we always eat Cheese Fondue and chocolate covered strawberries. Then we go to midnight mass. When we get home the kids open the presents from each other and then I whisk them off to bed so Santa can come.

  21. Cindy B. says:

Christmas Eve used to be a tradition in our house. We would get together and have shrimp cocktail, cheese and crackers – stuff like that and open presents from grandparents and aunts and uncles. Unfortunately, we don’t get together anymore like that. I guess too many things have changed, and I miss it.

  22. Leagh says:

My favorite tradition is Christmas Eve at grandma’s house. Food, family, fun, and then a wrapping paper fight after opening presents. Now that she has passed away, the tradition has moved to my mom’s but we still follow it every year.

  23. Joyce says:

Christmas Eve church service(s)sometimes we go early for the family one and late for the candle light one. Driving to look at lights. One present on Christmas Eve and the rest Christmas morning. New ornaments for the kids that have something to do with the past year – sports, activities or trips we took as a family.

  24. We also open 1 present on xmas eve and then the rest xmas morning. We don’t necessarily sing christmas carols unless we sing along with the radio but we do play xmas music while we decorate.

One of our newest traditions is that we go see TSO (Trans-Siberian Orchestra) every year. We have been the last 6 or 7 years and we love going. It is an awesome show.
