Christmas In July (1st Gift) Back to Blog
Update: The ARC winner is…Dorothy! Congrats, Dorothy!
Last night, my son and I watched one of his Christmas videos (Mickey’s Twice Upon A Christmas). What can I say? He was in the holiday mood, and now, so am I.
So let’s do a little Christmas in July fun!
Would you like to win an ARC of THE NAUGHTY LIST? Cause I’ve got one to give away! How do you win? Easy–just tell me about the best present you ever received.
(And I’ll be giving away more ARCs soon–stay tuned for more Christmas In July posts!).
Best gift was my engagement ring (Christmas ’02) 🙂
The best present I ever received was from my dad–a set of luggage with plane tickets to LA and passes for Disneyland for my hubby and I.
I love everything about Christmas, and we go all out here at our house. Five trees, all the trimmings, Christmas bedding, etc. It takes us forever to put up and take down everything, but it’s worth it 🙂
By the way, Susan Fox is in my RWA chapter, and I love her writing!
The best present ever, was actually 2 days late or 6 weeks early…our daughter, Jennie was born on Dec. 27, 1985. Didn’t think we could have children and pregnancy had problems. God is good! We celebrate a miracle every Dec. 25th and 27th!
My best gift was my engagement ring too…Christmas of 90. 🙂
My best Christmas present ever… was the very unexpected conception of my daughter on Christmas Eve although I didn’t actually get to hold her until September! I was told I would never have childeren!
Thanks! Maria
My best present was a cookbook from my husband for my birthday one year. It is a translation of a 10th century Islamic cookbook.
My best Christmas present ever actually came three weeks before Christmas. My 1st son born December 6th. The hospital put all babies born in December in stockings that yr and had it on all the news. So even though it was early December I still consider him my best present ever. By the way he’s now 21.
I was the best gift! I was born Dec 28- my dad wanted the tax deduction and I came in time – my mom wanted me to the first baby of the new year and I wasn’t- been disappointing her ever since.
Can’t wait to read this one!
A new wedding band after I had broken mine and I was so thrilled to have a new one.
a photo album filled with family memories
Tickets to my first ever Dragon*Con in Atlanta.
Best was my first kitten. He was so cute and sweet and turned into such a large but still sweet animal.
My very best Christmas present ever came 1 week early in 1993…my son! 🙂
Best Christmas present had to be a couple years ago when my daughter and son shopped for me at their school, received a ring and a trophy that said I was the best mom ever 🙂
Yeah for Christmas in July! Best gift I ever received was when my Husband proposed! Squee!!!!!, I was so NOT expecting that!
Merry Ho Ho In July!
Thanks!

Maybe not the best, but definitely the most memorable was when I was sixteen and I awoke Christmas day to find a steering wheel cover under the tree with my name on it. My parents gave me the car my Mom had been driving, turned out it was for me all along! That car is long gone, but the sacrifices my parents made for me to have a car will never be forgotten.
I would say my first PC and the rest is history….I’m a computer designer now. Thanks Dad 🙂
ohhhh i would have to say my best present I have ever received i got this past Christmas. My wonderful hubs got me a nook *squeeeeeeeee* and it has been attached to me hand ever sense!!!
Thanks Cynthia for Christmas in July!!!
*huggies*

My best christmas present was probably getting to see my cousin who was wrongfully sent to a detention center for a crime he did not commit. It was wonderful spending the holidays with him. 🙂
I remember my 1st year on my own things were very tight, my Mom & Dad called me over on Christmas eve and a BIG brown box was there with pkgs. all wrapped in newspaper 🙂 I had so much fun unwrapping them. They were cans and boxes of food, warm clothing and at the very bottom…a microwave oven. Best gift ever!
The best present I ever received — actually happened twice since I married my hubby — I have gotten a puppy for christmas on two separate occasions — they weren’t surprises though. We had picked them out from the breeder in November, and then were able to pick them up in time for Christmas. They were little bundles of Scottie joy!!
My husband suprised me 43 years ago this Christmas with an engagement ring. We had went over to his Aunt’s house to open presents that year!! It was definitely a suprise and the best gift I have ever received.
The best gift I ever got… this past Christmas I received a Sony E-reader…. 😀
Believe it or not, the best present I ever got for Christmas was a cheap glass bead necklace from my husband. He put it in a velvet necklace box and wrapped it beautifully. Well, since he and I are very honest with each other, I kissed him, thanked him and then asked if he still had the receipt. He smiled and said he did. He reached into his coat (apparently to get the receipt for me) and pulled out another velvet box. This one was considerably smaller. He handed it to me and said, “See if you like this better.” It was an engagement ring. Fifteen years later, I still have the crappy beaded necklace but I did like the ring better!!
The best gift I ever got was that everyone put together and bought me my ticket to the States to meet some dear friends I had gotten to know online. I had three wonderful weeks over the pond and I will never forget it.

I’m laughing at Gayle’s comment. I’m Jewish and of course we celebrated Chanukah. My husband isn’t Jewish, though not religious, but Christmas is a fun holiday with us, from the tree to the decorations, the family get-togethers, the food, the presents. The whole thing. It’s going to sound sappy, but the holiday itself is the best present.
my best gift was a necklace that my guy got me. Every time I wear it I always think of him and it makes him feel close during the day (even if he is always just a phone call away) until I see him at night. 🙂
One of my favorite presents was a plane ticket to Amsterdam. My cousin gave me that present for Christmas a few years ago so that I wouldn’t have to be alone for the holiday.
The best present I received was my little sister. She was born when I was 7,I loved watching her sleep, singing her lullabies and bathing her. I loved the bond we share, that she was so tiny and looked up at me her big sis with such confidence and trust. I loved making her giggle and shrieke with laughter when I tickled her 🙂
She is 19 now, but we still are the best of sisters 🙂

My best present was the gift of my dog 10 years ago. My parents got me a dog for my birthday, but she arrived in time for Christmas! Sunny, my samoyed, came into my life via mercadolibre.com (eBay) in Peru. Sunny is still with me today—she’ll be 10 in August. She’s the best dog out there; very sneaky and a great disposition. 🙂
My best Christmas gift was from my son when he was young – he bought me a beautiful framed line drawing of a unicorn, he picked it out all by himself and paid for it too. I still have it hanging in my bedroom where I see it every day.
The best gifts I received was on Jan 14, 1992 – My son Eli, and May 18, 1993 – My daughter Nicole. I couldn’t have asked for better kids!
When I was eight, my parents gave me a beautiful jewelry box which played music. Many decades later, I still have and USE it! It will always be precious to me.
A couple years ago, my mom bought me a robe. That doesn’t sound like anything too speical, but she died later, and now, whenever I wear it, I think of her/her hugs (it’s a warm fuzzy, hug-able robe).
A digital camera my son bought me last Christmas with his own money.
I can’t really think of a really good present at the moment that I got.
I made a painting for my dad and gave it to him for Christmas one year, the greatest gift I got was seeing the smile on his face come Christmas morning.
My best Christmas present was DH and my first house. It was small but just right for starting our family. We closed on the house a few weeks before Christmas.
My best presents, Had a long holiday (about 12 days) on last December, went to My DH hometown.
I don’t recall any outstanding Christmas presents as Christmas was not a huge deal growing up. However, what I do remember is that Christmas is a magical time in New York City especially for a child. I remember waiting in line to look at display windows of department stores and, of course, the tree in Rockefeller Center. Everyone seemed to be nicer during the holidays, too.
Tickets to see The Phantom of the Opera!
The best present was a wish from my Grandmother. VERY exciting deciding what to choose.
I think the best present was a portable poker table to take to college with me.
She’s not a puppy any more but a little over seven years ago my then-fiance, now-husband got me a puppy (Siberian husky) for Christmas. He knew he’d be going overseas soon so he got her to keep me company. She’s a very wily little escape artist and I can’t imagine my life without her. Sometimes she kicks the man out of bed but it’s own fault for getting her, lol 🙂
Best present? A journal my husband kept for me/us while we were dating. He gave it to me when he proposed 🙂
My best present was my engagement ring (Christmas 1986). Thanks for the giveaway!
My daughter in 1989 – she arrived a little early but was due on Christmas Eve so she was my best ever christmas present 😀
When I was about 10 or 12, there was a giant box under our tree, wrapped with no names. It was torture for all us kids wondering who it was for, what could it be?? I was ecstatic to find out it was mine…I think by the time I opened it wouldn’t have mattered what it was, I was just happy to have the biggest box and not my brothers, lol. But it was a cool sleeping bag and I enjoyed using it for many years at sleepovers and camping!
We celebrate Christmas in July everywhere in Australia. In fact I just came back from a holiday where the hotel had a big tree and all their decorations up and everyone was stumbling out of Christmas parties. It’s the only way we get a cooler Christmas – stupid, but very popular now.
My three children are all precious gifts. However, every Christmas my mom makes me a goodie box filled with an assortment of items. I never know what will be in it but it’s always exciting to see what she comes up with.
I don’t know about best, but the funniest was for my birthday, the year my hub and I were married. He gave me a shotgun and a pair of hiking boots. He got so much grief for that from friends and family and I suppose I was just a little bit pissed too, that I receive something very special for my bd every year and after 33 years, he is still buying me flowers almost every week. I’ve got a great guy.
