Booking It–Keeper Shelf Back to Blog

I love to re-read books.  Sometimes, I’ll be walking around the house, or doing laundry, or watching TV, and a scene from a book will flash through my mind.  When that flash happens, I generally can’t rest until I re-read the book.  The scene calls me, and I follow it.

This weekend, the book that called to me was SUMMER IN ECLIPSE BAY by Jayne Ann Krentz.  This was the third installment in the Eclipse trilogy–and my favorite of the three books. Straight contemporary (yep, I read those, too), and with a hero that I loved, the book was destined for my keeper shelf.

One of the things that I lived best about this book was the interaction between the hero and heroine–the chemistry just jumped off the pages.  They were fun and they had a real spark that I enjoyed.

Now, of course, I’m going to have to go back and re-read the first two installments in the trilogy. Oh, the sacrifices I must make.  🙂

Anyone else have any old keeper recommendations? Any that you love to re-read? And what makes these books so great?

How funny! My fil returned two bags of books I’d given to him to read. I took some out, planning to organize them (after two weeks). I never got around to the organizing, but I put DAWN IN ECLIPSE BAY in my living room to reread. I don’t even remember it, but it should be fun. From the blurb I see she has a matchmaker plot in which the matchmaker gets involved with a client. This reminds me of one of her later Jayne Castle books.

I don’t know if you like historicals, but any of Loretta Chase’s are good, especially Lord of Scoundrels and The Last Hellion.

Mimosa Grove by Dinah McCall(Sharon Sala) and French Silk by Sandra Brown. I love the atmosphere of these two books and the characterization. Both are set in Louisiana.

Jennifer Crusie’s books are all keepers and re-reads for me, I think I’ve most of those into the double digits. Also I love Nora Robert’s Chesapeake Bay series, I’ve re-read those several times. Lynn Micheal’s Mother of the Bride is a book I’ve read a few times and Judith Micheal A Tangled Web. Geez, yes there are more I do tend to re-read books. Shrug. And funny – I’ve listed to Summer in Eclipse Bay on cd (road trip) and never knew it was part of a series, must check that out!

I see I have alot in common with some of y’all! I have almost all Jayne Ann Krentz’s books and each one is on my keeper shelf as a reread. The same for her Amanda Quick and Jayne Castle books. *g* Jennifer Crusie is also a keeper and Smart Women by her I have read at least 10 times. *g* There are also some by Nora Roberts there, not to mention her J.D. Robb books! *G* And that’s just on my romance shelves! (There is also a book by Cynthia Eden, Hotter after Midnight on there. *G*)

That’s crazy, Edie! LOL. I want to read Dawn in Eclipse Bay next. (I found it while I was looking for Summer in Eclipse Bay.)

Linda, I’ll have to look for those the next time I’m in the bookstore! Thanks!

Hey, Rhonda! Ah, so many great recommendations. Thank you very much!

Ah, Brandy, I love you. 🙂 Like you, I’m a big fan of Jayne no matter what name she is using–love, love those she wrote as Amanda Quick.

Jane, I love to re-read Julie Garwood’s historicals. She’s a long time favorite for me.

Great–have you been looking at my keeper shelf? Linda, Diana, and Elizabeth have been on it for years. And thank you for listing me with such wonderfully talented ladies! You’ve made my night.
