Are you FATED to win a new Kate Spade Tote from Deadly Guest Rebecca Zanetti? Back to Blog
So here’s my dilemma. Most of the guest authors here already have books out and can hold terrific give aways. My book isn’t quite out, so what should I do? I was pondering this the other day while also admiring my new cover. Isn’t it fantastic?
FATED is the first book in the Dark Protector Series, and I just received my first quote from the very wonderful Kate Douglas, author of the Wolf Tales, one of my favorite series. Here’s what Kate had to say:
“FATED explodes off the pages from the terrifying opening to the climactic finish-this is one story that’s hot and fast from beginning to end-impossible to put down and guaranteed to entertain. The pace never slows and the heat doesn’t ebb-Rebecca Zanetti has created a page-turner of a book, with a heroine willing to fight for the ones she loves and a hero who will literally take your breath-just before he steals your heart. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and can’t wait to see what Zanetti comes up with next.” ~~ Kate Douglas
How wonderful is that??? 🙂
My series has good guy vampires – hot, sexy and can venture into the sun. And bad guy vampires, the Kurjans – pasty skinned, evil and killed by the sun. But the thing is, the Kurjans have discovered science and have been working on a cure for their sun aversion. As well as a way to genetically alter and thus steal vampire mates. The vamps really don’t like this.
My heroine in book two has been on the run from the bad vamps, and it occurred to me. If I were running from the bad guys, what would I need?
Why – I’d need a special gun, cash, a change of clothes…and something to keep them in. And even though it’s a dark paranormal world for my heroine, there’s no sense in forgetting fashion. Hence, the Kate Spade Renwick Street Annabel Tote – perfect for keeping all of those weapons to fight the Kurjans. Or your lotion and a good book to take to the beach!
So what type of accessory would you most like to have if chased by a race of evil vampires? Leave a comment and I’ll draw one lucky name to win this brand new Kate Spade tote. Just in case the Kurjans find you too.

Hey Rebecca!
Wow, I do love the cover for “Fated” and congrats on your first publication. Your story sounds fantastic and I do like vampires so will have to add it to my list.
What would I add to a tote if on the run from bad vamps? Oh a wooden stake I think, oh and maybe some holy water. 😉
Thanks so much for the giveaway here at Cynthia’s..
Congrats on the first publication. I love totes! I have a collection. It’s an addiction. I think that I would want a large crucifix that doubles as a weapon as an accessory.
Hey rebecca 🙂
I can’t wait to read Fated! It sounds really good, can’t wait till it comes out. Now, if I were running from vampires……. I would need a gun with bullets dipped in holy water. That would be useful.
fated sounds like a great read. and I’d really want a crossbow with special silver tips hours and special made water pistol to hold holy water. And a couple of pistols would be nice. I’d want to be loaded for bear lol.
Hi, Rebecca!! Thanks so much for guest posting! I love your cover–it’s awesome! And congrats on the wonderful quote. Can’t wait to read Fated!!
Hmmm…what accessory? My trusty stake, of course!
This books sounds wonderful! I am definitely going to put it on my “to read” list. Love some hot sexy vampires! LOL
I can’t wait for February to get here – the book sounds fantastic! The accessory I would like the most if being chased by a group of vampires – a “tanning bed flashlight” that would shoot sunlight in a concentrated beam.
Lea: Thanks so much for dropping in today! And I agree – a little vial of holy water would always come in handy.
Marlene: I’m with you. I love totes, too and when katespade.com has a sale it makes my whole day. 🙂
Rebecca, what a fab cover! The books sounds awesome. I don’t know if pepper spray or a stun gun would be too effective on those evil vamps, but those are two things you’d definitely find in my tote!
Congrats on the new book!
Lindsay: A gun with bullets dripped in holy water? That’s genuis! And a bit diabolical… 🙂
Pamk: Wow! You’ve given this some thought. I think there are more of us women prepared to take on the bad vamps than people think!
Cynthia: Thanks so much for hosting me today! I love the cover, too. And since it’s my first cover ever, it’s now my screensaver, my background for my phone, I bought a hat with it on it… 🙂
Sharon: Thanks! I hope you enjoy FATED.
Heather: February seems so far away for me! I think you’ve got something with the tanning bed flashlight – you might want to patent that.
Debora: Thanks so much! I like the idea of a stun gun against a vampire – maybe you could up the normal voltage for a stronger impact. 🙂
Looks like a great read, congrats on the upcoming release.
I love totes too, and have a collection. If I had to run from bad vamps, I’d be sure to hang some garlic from it and wave it at them if they got too close…hehe!!!

Loved the cover, will be looking for the book when it comes out. An accessory I would take with me would be a cross, would take a stake, but I am klutzy so would probably trip and injure myself.
What an AWESOME cover! SQUEEEEEE!
I can’t wait to buy it next year.
Valerie: Garlic’s a great idea! Kate Spade and garlic – now there’s a combo!
Jean P: LOL! I’m klutzy too so I can relate. In fact I had headshots taken the other day and I fell in the lake. We were pretty much finished though, so it was okay. 🙂
Brandi Hall: Thanks! I love the cover of your book BIRTHRIGHT too! I admire artistic people who can create a mood with either pictures or paint. I’m all about words… 🙂
Hi, Rebecca.
Love, absolutely love your cover! And the story looks like it will warm up the cold February’s we have here in ND.
In my tote…well, I’d like to have Atropos magic shears that cut the thread of life. Vamps might be undead, but still, those shears should do some pretty awesome damage to a bad guy.
Petrina
Oh Petrina – you’re so right! Those magic shears do some serious damage when held in the right hands. Thanks so much for dropping by today!
Hi Rebecca 🙂
Just visited your website and read the excerpt for FATED!!! OMG, we have to wait until February 2011 🙁 This book sounds awesome, cannot wait to get my hands on this book. So glad you stopped over to tell us about your book.
Ok, let me get back on track. I would want to carry a flashlight that had some high beams to keep them away.
You indicated this was a series and talked about the heroine in the second book. Do you know how many books you see in the series?
Thanks again for stopping by and telling us about your book Rebecca, Happy Friday 🙂
What a great cover! And February can not get here soon enough! You bought a hat?? I wanna see what it looks like, sounds cool I’ve never seen a book cover on a hat before. Congrats!!!
Michele: You’re the first person to read the excerpt as I just put it up – I’m so glad you liked it! You know – this series could go on for awhile and I love that! There are five brothers and each could have their own story, and then the shifter friends would be fun to write about. We’ll see…
Sayde: Hey Sayde! You should put the cover for Riding Double on a hat to wear around town. That I would love to see!
Love the cover, and the story sounds great. A girl can never have too many totes, and when running from evil vamps, she should make sure to carry her crucifix embossed, blessed shortsword.
Nancy: Those bad vamps better watch out for you! And you’re right – a girl really can never have too many totes. I’ve tried to explain that to my husband…
Hi Rebecca! Awesome cover! Congrats. I can’t wait to see it in the stores. Woo hoo!
I’d put my flask of holy water in my tote, btw 🙂
Hmm, all of the good suggestions are taken already. I’ll go with garlic. If I get away, I can cook up some scampi.
Congratulations on your upcoming new release!!! 2011 can’t get here fast enough.
The most perfect accessory would be UV light capped bullets and the accompanying gun. Aim and shoot.
Sidney: Thanks! And if you didn’t need the holy water, there’s nothing wrong with keeping a flask handy. 🙂
romancemama: I love the Plan B. Scampi sounds wonderful, in fact.
Anna: I agree – 2011 seems so far away! Nice plan with the UV light capped bullets. If I’m ever on the run from evil vamps, I know who to call. This is great.
Ever read the manga “Hellsing”? The main character has a gun that shoots bullets that were made from silver from holy relics and mixed with holy water, then have explosive caps… other things I’m forgetting. It’s like the author (who is a guy) wanted to toss everything into these bullets and make them be able to blow things up and make a huge spectacular mess… which is such a guy thing to do, of course! Still, if I had to fight vampires, I think these are the guns I’d want 🙂
Rebecca, congratulations on your book. I’ve been following your occasional posts about your journey into publication, and as someone who is not yet published, it has been a very informative and interesting read to me. I hope your book does gangbusters, and I love the cover as well!
Danielle: I agree about the super-gun. The more power the better! And thanks for reading my blog – I should be adding more soon. This business is a hurry up and then…wait business. But I was SO excited to get my cover. I’m glad you like it. 🙂
I am not a big vampire fan, but this book sounds real good. I might have to try it. good luck to you.
Rebecca, congrats on your upcoming release!
I went on the Amazon site hoping it was up for pre-order 🙁 I hope it goes up soon 🙂
The accessory I would carry, night goggles 🙂
Thanks Debra! And who knows – the vamps may hook you. They very rarely let someone go… 🙂
Ali – I keep checking Amazon too. 🙂 That’s funny. I’ll announce on my blog the second FATED is available – and I’ll ask the amazing Cynthia Eden to tweet it…she can really get the word out. And wearing night goggles is an excellent idea – levels the playing field a bit.
Congratulations on your first book. The cover is awesome.
If I were on the run from two evil vamps, I’d pack an invisibility cloak.
Congratulations on your new book. I will read it – love Vamps! I’d have my white LV bag. It’s a purse but big enough to hold what you need.
Edie: Nice plan there–an entirely different direction, that invisibility cloak. That’s fantastic! I need to find out who at Kensington created the cover so I can send them a big thanks – I love it too.
Viki: Not only is the white LV bag big enough for your stuff, you could always smack a bad vampire over the head with it for impact. Good thought! I hope you enjoy FATED. 🙂
The book sounds great — I can’t wait to read it, and I’m so happy to hear it’s the first in a series.
I’d take a portable sun lamp. 🙂
Phyllis: Thanks! And there will be three books for sure published by Kensington…but I’m hoping for more. 🙂
Congrats on such a wonderful review! Sounds wonderful!!! 😀
Thanks Colleen! Kate Douglas is a favorite of mine, and thank goodness they didn’t tell me she’d be reading Fated for a blurb or I would’ve been a complete mess the whole time. I found out after she sent in the blurb – and what a fantastic day that was!
Your book sounds great; congrats on its pending release. Ok–if these bad vamps are allergic to sun, I’m going to be spending all my time outdoors. So I want a great pair of sunglasses to take with me, along with the crucifix I normally wear. Thanks for the contest.
LSUReader: You bet – I love a good contest! It’ll be fun to draw a name. Or randomly give a number to each person who left a comment and ask Cynthia to pick a number one through… I’m with you about the outdoors. Except the bad guys are working with science… 🙂
Amazing cover!
I’m loving all things supernatural these days & your seires sounds awesome!
Also, what a complement to your writing to receive such a great quote from Kate Douglas.
The accessory I’d bring along would be a pair of wood heel stilettos so I could stake a vamp on the run; functional and fashionable.
CONGRATS!
Great sounding vamp story with an intriguing mythos. As to what I’d carry…it would be a silver cross with a stake that pops out of the bottom by pressing the center of the cross. That way I have a dual purpose weapon.
