Are you FATED to win a new Kate Spade Tote from Deadly Guest Rebecca Zanetti? Back to Blog
So here’s my dilemma. Most of the guest authors here already have books out and can hold terrific give aways. My book isn’t quite out, so what should I do? I was pondering this the other day while also admiring my new cover. Isn’t it fantastic?
FATED is the first book in the Dark Protector Series, and I just received my first quote from the very wonderful Kate Douglas, author of the Wolf Tales, one of my favorite series. Here’s what Kate had to say:
“FATED explodes off the pages from the terrifying opening to the climactic finish-this is one story that’s hot and fast from beginning to end-impossible to put down and guaranteed to entertain. The pace never slows and the heat doesn’t ebb-Rebecca Zanetti has created a page-turner of a book, with a heroine willing to fight for the ones she loves and a hero who will literally take your breath-just before he steals your heart. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and can’t wait to see what Zanetti comes up with next.” ~~ Kate Douglas
How wonderful is that??? 🙂
My series has good guy vampires – hot, sexy and can venture into the sun. And bad guy vampires, the Kurjans – pasty skinned, evil and killed by the sun. But the thing is, the Kurjans have discovered science and have been working on a cure for their sun aversion. As well as a way to genetically alter and thus steal vampire mates. The vamps really don’t like this.
My heroine in book two has been on the run from the bad vamps, and it occurred to me. If I were running from the bad guys, what would I need?
Why – I’d need a special gun, cash, a change of clothes…and something to keep them in. And even though it’s a dark paranormal world for my heroine, there’s no sense in forgetting fashion. Hence, the Kate Spade Renwick Street Annabel Tote – perfect for keeping all of those weapons to fight the Kurjans. Or your lotion and a good book to take to the beach!
So what type of accessory would you most like to have if chased by a race of evil vampires? Leave a comment and I’ll draw one lucky name to win this brand new Kate Spade tote. Just in case the Kurjans find you too.

Staci Jean: Thanks! And as a woman who loves shoes, I totally agree with bringing a pair of deadly stilettos. In fact, my heroine in book two gets very upset with the hero for blowing up a building with her Manolos in it…
Joder: Wonderful dual purpose weapon – great imagination! I love it.
Congrats on your upcoming debut release, Rebecca. Would a bodyguard be considered an accessory. It would be great if I could hire him and have him protect me from the evil vamps.
Hmmmm. I would say a gun that shot out stakes! Take that evil vampires! But just in case they happen to steal it away from me….Just kidding! You know I love y’all! 😉
Jane: I’d say yes. A bodyguard might just be the perfect accessory. Expecially if he were tall, dark and deadly. Oh my.
Chelsea: Good call! A gun that shoots stakes. Combine that with Jane’s bodyguard and the evil vamps might as well give up now. 🙂
Hi Rebecca! OMG that cover is awesome, and the book sounds even better. I can’t wait to read it. I think that I would have to have an instructional book called 1001 Ways to Kill an Evil Vampire, then I would have all kinds of ideas on how to kill the baddies! Of course having an awesomely handsome protector would be good too! HMMMM let me think on that one. Thanks for the contest.
Barb P: You bet! And you sound like a woman with a plan…which is always a good idea when going head to head with an evil vampire race. If you ever find that book on 1001 ways, let me know… 🙂
I’m sure someone else has already mentioned this, but how about a special flashlight that can display sunlight instead of a regular flashlight? Your book sounds interesting, can’t wait to see it released.
Brandy: I love the idea of a special flashlight – especially a heavy one you could smash onto their heads if necessary. 🙂
Hi! Awesome cover!
I was thinking of dried garlic so that if there is no vampires, then I could put it on my lunch. I’m also leaning toward a stiletto in the shape of a cross and holy water mixed in with my moisturizer so that I won’t get bitten *and* my skin will stay smooth. 🙂 How about holy water in lipstick? Or maybe dried garlic? Nah, then I’d be hungry all the time.
Congrats on your upcoming release and it sounds fabulous! I would choose hair sticks that can double as small knives as an accessory.
Rebecca,
It’s never too early to begin promoting your book. The story sounds fascinating. Good luck with it.
Congrats Beck! The cover is H O T !!! Kate Spade bag sounds fabulous – I’m enjoying your blog!
Cories: You are a true multitasker! And holy water in a lipstick is brilliant. Just imagine if a heroine accidentally used the wrong lipstick at the wrong time…
Jeanette: Hair sticks doubling as small knives – perfect for fighting all bad guys! I think you’re on to something there!
Keena: Thanks so much! This type of promotion is a lot of fun!
Sounds great. Looking forward to the release and hearing more about it. What a awesome cover too. And a good sized tote, not too large or too small is perfect for any occasion or event or made chase though the city!
Donna B: Thanks so much! I have to admit, I ordered the Kate Spade bag and when it arrived I just peeked to make sure it was the right one. If I’d taken it out of the box, I’m not so sure I’d be able to give it up. I’m really excited to send it to somebody who was nice enough to drop by and leave a comment!
Donna S: You know, that’s what I thought when I saw the tote! It’d be perfect for winding through narrow streets, jumping across rivers…
The new book looks good – always looking for new reads! Funny how I always leave the apt thinking I need the right accessories in case I get 1)stuck on the subway; 2)encounter nasties on the subway; 3)or can’t get on the subway. So good shoes, a secure handbag that includes but not limited to lip balm, economy sized purell, wipies & candy, and lastly, a don’t-frig-with-me scowl!
Kylie: Wow you are prepared! I’m working on my big-city scowl for my trip to Orlando the end of July and now I’ll remember to bring candy. Thanks for popping by today! 🙂
I would have a gun with holy water filled bullets…
Tracey D: It soounds like you have a plan… 🙂 Thanks for stopping by!
I love your cover too – that seems to be a continuing theme here! I’d want some knives, throwing stars and a bottle of water to stay hydrated…maybe some lipstick to swipe on when the good vampires show up, lol.
Congratulations on the new and first release. I’m not quite sure what I would use, maybe a cross with Holy Water or a long blade to sever the head or a ton of garlic (though I doubt that really works). But hopefully I would have at my side the good vampire and he would know exactly what to do.
Stephenia: Thanks about the cover! I should find the person from the art/marketing dept. and provide them a link to these comments! I love it too. And the throwing stars – I really like that idea!
Diane: The long blade would help but I’m with you. There’s nothing like having a good vampire at your side… 🙂 I love a good Alpha vamp.
LOL! Rebecca, congrats on Fated–I love the sounds of this new series! It sounds like I might want a portable sunlamp in my bag and one of those hot, sexy good guy vamps by my side! Can’t wait to read all about these Dark Protectors!
Very hot cover! Rawr! Accessories are a no brainer for me. I’m a Dooney girl…the giraffe stuff. LOL I would definitely need my Dooney giraffe wristlet wallet while on the run from the bad vamps!
Fedora: Thanks so much! And the hot, sexy good guy vamp – what more could a girl want?
Lex: I’m a Dooney fan, too! Not sure what the wristlet would do to the bad guys, but hey, you’d look stylish during the battle! And the good guys always show up…
Sounds like a fantastic series and I’ll be on the look out for Fated when it’s released. I’m happy to add another great vampire series to my wish list.
Fated sounds like a great read!! I also love the cover!!
I am a whining baby, and if I was being chased I would have a whole bag of different items to help me ward them off 🙂
Good luck with your book!!! I love vampires, of course!!
LOVE the cover. The book sounds fantastic. Love me some vampires!!
Barbara: Thanks! My wish list is full of vampires too. And shifters…a couple of werewolves…
Judy: Those bad vamps aren’t so tough – I’m sure your bag of tricks would do some damage!
Lynn: I wondered if you were going to drop by today! Good to see you! I love those vamps too… 🙂
Nice cover Rebecca! Always happy to find the first book of a new vamp series-congrats on your book-whoo to the hoo!
Holy Water and a Stake and of coure if i’m on the run I would need water for me and Snakes to take whit me.

Congrads. I love the cover. Can’t wait to read your book. Sounds wonderful. I would need some chapstick & running shoes for sure.
Hi Rebecca, I love vamp stories, so I entered you into my “new authors to try” spreadsheet, along with the date of your series premiere date. Anyway, what I would have to have if chased by the bad guys is a cloak of invisibility and will need the Kate Spade Tote to keep it in *g*.
Congratulations on your debut Rebecca. Amazing cover!
Very fun post, Rebecca, and congratulations on your upcoming release! As for what accessory I’d want… well I was thinking something else until I saw CatsMeow’s clever mention of a cloak of invisibility.
Otherwise I was going to say a giant pointy wooden cross 😛 A gun that shoots silver bullets. Something that kills or repels vampires.
But that seems complicated, so hey – a Kate Spade bad would be lovely. If I’m going to get taken down by evil vampires, at least I could go down in style. 😉
I would really like to see more comments from people about this post….i like it but i still have different views on the matter…
Wow! What an amazing review!
I’d probably want a sword if I was attacked. Swords can injure almost anything, right?
