I am in countdown mode. 😉 ANGEL IN CHAINS will be releasing on 11/27/12, and I can’t wait! But, I’m actually feeling extra excited today b/c my wonderful publisher sent me some early author copies–so now I can share them with you. I’ve got five copies of ANGEL IN CHAINS that I’d like to giveaway. Want to win? Then, just leave me a comment. And let’s make the comment process very easy. We’re incredibly close to Halloween, so just tell me your favorite Halloween costume. Mine’s Medusa. Give me plastic snakes to twine in my hair, and you’ve got a very happy woman. (Giveaway note: The giveaway is open internationally, and the giveaway will stay open until 11 PM–Central time–on 10/31/12.)
Also, in case you haven’t read the excerpt from ANGEL IN CHAINS, here’s a peek for you:
***
“They’re probably hunting you now.” He walked away from her and headed toward the window that looked out over the street. “Hunting us,” he added quietly and realized he was anticipating the fight. When had he come to crave the fury? When had the bloodlust grown so within him?
She stood as still as a statue before his door. Her hand was up, hovering above the doorknob, and he could almost feel the fear rolling off her in waves.
But then she took a deep breath, and he saw her small shoulders straighten. She shoved back the heavy tangle of her hair and turned to face him. “How did you get us away from them?”
Az shrugged once more.
She took a step toward him. “You . . . you know what they are, right?”
Amusement flared in him. “I did notice the claws.” Rather hard to miss those.
She blinked, and her eyes narrowed as she studied him. He’d never seen quite that shade of green before. She crept closer, bringing that light scent of strawberries to him. When she stopped, she was less than a foot away from him. It would be so easy to touch her.
Though he knew well just how dangerous a touch could be.
Yet she stood close enough to kiss. But angels weren’t supposed to kiss mortals . . .
You’re not an angel anymore. The whisper came from deep inside of him. The same tempting whisper that he’d been fighting since his fall.
You’re not an angel. Do what you want.
You’re not an angel. Take what you want.
He was discovering that he could want many things.
The top of the woman’s head barely reached his shoulders. She tilted her head and stared up at him. Then her gaze swept down his body.
Az stiffened even before she whispered, “What are you?”
Rather insulting question. “I’m the man who saved your life.” Did she need to know more? He didn’t think so.
Her hand lifted and pressed against her mouth. A small trace of blood still rested near her lips. “There were three of them, and, you’re big and all, but there’s still just one of you.”
She might just be one of the most ungrateful humans he’d ever encountered. Stifling a sigh, Az inclined his head. “You’re welcome.”
She stared in surprise for a moment. Then she laughed. A soft, strangely lyrical sound spilled from her lips, and her wide smile lit up her face.
Not just pretty.
Az tensed as the wave of need hit him. Not lust for blood or death. This time . . . the lust was just for her.
You’re not an angel anymore. Take what you want.
“Yeah,” she said, as her laughter faded but the smile still lingered on her lips, “thanks for saving my ass.” Then she held out her hand to him. “My name’s Jade. Jade Pierce.”
He stared at her hand. She wiggled her fingers at him. Slowly, Az lifted his own hand and caught those wiggling fingers. Soft. “I am Azrael.” He dropped her hand. He hadn’t used the name Azrael in centuries. “Most just call me Az.”
“Well, Az, it’s a pleasure to meet you.” Her gaze slid over his body again. “But I’m gonna have to ask, once more, just what are—”
The door crashed in behind her. She didn’t scream this time, but maybe Az just didn’t give her a chance to scream.
Because as the three black panthers—fully shifted panthers—leapt into the room, jumping over the broken door, Az grabbed Jade and threw her toward the couch.
Then he ran right for the snarling beasts.
He should have known better than to let down his guard. Shifters and their damn acute senses. They’d caught his scent, her scent, and followed them right through the Quarter.
“I warned you,” Az snapped and leapt at the nearest panther. He caught the beast’s front paws and shoved the giant cat back. “You should have listened.” There would be no more warnings now. Only death.

Hi Cynthia! I’m a big fan of your books! I cannot wait to read Angel In Chains!
My favorite Halloween costume was one that my oldest daughter wore last Halloween (she was 10). She was dressed up as Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz. She even had “ruby” red slippers! It was a beautiful costume and she received many compliments on it.
Thank you for the opportunity to win a copy of Angel In Chains!.

My favorite halloween costume was one I made in HS – I was a pirate… even had a derringer (cigarette lighter) to tuck into my waistband…
My favorite costume was a gypsy. Easy to pull together and always different.
I cant really remember a favorite costume…but this year my whole office all dressed as “Where’s Waldo” which was really fun. Plus I got to wear a red tutu, not part of the costume but I just wanted to do it. Love the series by the way!!
Sandy
I just love a sexy man dressed as a mysterious, totally Alpha vampire!! Thanks for having this giveaway
My favorite costume was one of my daughters. When she was two I dressed her as a little old granny. She had the nightgown with the ruffles, the little hat with rollers in her hair & even wire framed glasses. She was so adorable. Thanks for the giveaway. Leann leamei1981@yahoo.com
My favorite costume was my flapper one. It was just the bodysuit and long fringes, loved it. If course I had all the accessories to go with it. Thanks for the giveaway!

Hiya Cynthia! 😀
Wow! Loving the giveaway! I’m so excited for Angel In Chains! I’ve been waiting ages for it, I must find out what happens! Eeeeeekkkkk! 😀
So yeah I love dressing up as anything for Halloween. Last year I was a Sexy Fight Attendant but this year I’m going as Red Riding Hood because I am LOVING Once Upon A Time! 😀
Kind Regards from your number one Scottish Fan,
Michelle 😀

I love couples costumes or group costumes. Last year my husband and his co-workers went as the cast of the wizard of oz. Last year my daughter and I went as a devil and an angel. She made a great devil and of course I was the angel.
Thanks for the giveaway.
My favorite was as a Tudor Royal. I attend Renaissance Faire’s and love to wear my costumes so I started giving out candy wearing them. The kids (and Dad’s 😉 Love them!
Well I’m not much for costumes, although I LOVE Halloween and enjoying everyone else’s costumes LOL. I think the only thing I ever dressed up as was a witch. A very SEXY witch (at least in my own mind) – I’d lost alot of weight that year and wanted to show it off.
My DH dresses up every year even if it’s just to shell out at our home (no parties planned). I made him stop with the scary masks though the year our baby niece took one look and started SCREAMING. It hurt his feelings that she was too young to know that it was her uncle even when he took the mask off…..
Stay safe everyone!
I have a steampunk costume. I actually won best costume this weekend at my Halloween party 😉
My favorite costume is a pirate. Thanks for the giveaway. Sounds like an awesome book. Love the cover.
I’d love to dress up as a … wait for it … book!
My favorite costume was of a insomniac. I wore pjs, had bed head, and carted around the Stephen King book “Insomnia” and a cup of warm milk!
I like a witch costume.
My favorite halloween costume is Cleopatra. I love Egyptian themes.
Wow… so excited about the book! 🙂
MY favorite costume is my cat suit. But won’t be wearing it this year because Sandy is coming… 🙁
I dress up as a black cat every year because I do storytime at the library where I work. It’s not exciting but the kids love it. My 10 year old is dressing up as a bag of Jelly Belly jellybeans this year and I absolutely love her costume- she made it with her Dad 🙂
Me me me!! I LOVE this series! 🙂
If I was going to dress up, which I’m not, but I would love to be Wonder Woman! 😀
My favorite costume is a pirate! Who doesn’t love getting to carry around a sword, wear a bandana and say Arrrrgh!!!
I find doing the 80’s very easy – especially now that a lot of the fashion of the 80’s is making a comeback.
Thanks for the chance to win!:)
My best costume was going as a witch when my kids where young and the guy walks by and says “you look like my mother-in-law”. I had the hair the hat and warts too!!!!
Counting down to 11/27/12. Looking forward to Angel in Chains. =)
My favorite Halloween Costume has always been the Sexy Vampire outfit I wore a few years ago. I loved dressing up as a Vampire when I was a teenager and now that I’m an adult I still love dressing up as one. =)
Although, now that I’m a Mom, I love every costume my oldest picks out. This year she is wearing one of my FAVE costumes, Red Riding Hood. I’m looking forward to seeing her trick or treat in her adorable outfit.
My favorite costume is one a friend of mine has – Queen of Atlantis – which has a beautiful flowing gown and headpiece. Because it’s fanciful and flattering without crossing the line into too revealing, it can be worn to work where we are encouraged to dress up for Halloween (yay!).
My favorite costumes was right after I graduated high school. A whole bunch of us dressed up like the Scooby Doo gang. We even had a mystery machine.
I was a punk rocker for so many years, so that was probably my favorite. One year I made my own rubix cube costume. That was fun. Thanks, Cynthia!
Can’t wait for this one. And my favorite costume has to be either a pirate or Cleopatra.
My favorite costume was when I was a kid, a gypsy. I got to wear makeup and a lot of jewelry….this was before princesses were so popular.
OMG Cynthia, I CAN NOT WAIT for this book. I have needed a new Cynthia book for a long time, I am going through withdrawl. Best of luck sweetie and I will spread the word as much as I can!!! <3 HUGS <3
I was a witch a few years ago. I had a fake nose, and my sister made me look like an old women. She mated my hair so it was like 3 feet from my head. No could tell that it was me, it was awesome!
I’m not really a costume person. My fgavorite as a kid was a mouse costume I wore in a ballet recital of The Nutcracker. It got handed down and both my younger brother and sister wore it.
A queen. Need to stay in my element!! Lol.
I would love to win a copy of this book. My costume would have to be a witch because I have one on the weather vane of my house.
My favourite costume is a Witch as I have the broom stick, black copy and also a magic wand. x
I’m not good with imagination for making costumes but my daughter sure is. She wins the contest at her work every year. My favorite year was when she went as an iPhone. She looked exactly like one too. It was so cool. She made it from card board and painted apps icons and everything on it.
I had this really nice black & pink sorceress costume that I loved…. have not dressed up in years.
Happy Halloween! 😀
I was never into Halloween but the one who gave out the candy: love the kids and parents who come up with such great costumes, not store bought ones but ones they have created and sown themselves!!!
Favorite costume was my daughter dressed up as Raggedy Ann… she was just to cute with her triangle nose 🙂
Thanks for the giveaway and Happy Halloween to you!
I still love the old-fashioned witch for a costume 😉
Thanks for the excerpt and contest.
