My mother and I were talking about the psychic talent of clairscent earlier tonight, so, before I went to bed, I thought I’d put up a quick post about the phenomenon also known as clear smelling.
What is clairscent? Is that what you’re wondering (and you know you were!)? Well, clairscent has been described by researchers as the ability of an individual to pick up the fragrances or odors from a spirit or from another realm/world.
Since my grandmother passed a few weeks ago, my mother has told me several times that she can “still smell” my grandmother. If she gets very upset, she says she can smell her, and the scent comforts my mother.
So, is that an example of clairscent? I like to think so. I like to think that my grandmother is trying to help my mother in the only way that she can.
Perhaps in the future, you should pay much closer attention to the scents that you catch in the air–you never know when someone may just be trying to send you a sweet-scented message.

Today, I’m going to talk a bit about psychokinesis, or, the ability to use your mind to influence and/or move inanimate objects.
Let me give you a very simple example: Have you ever been at a traffic light? And the dang thing just stays red? And stays red? And you start thinking, “Change to green. Change. Change.” Well, when you start going through the change matra, you’re trying to use psychokinesis.
Bet you didn’t even realize you’d been doing it, huh?
Wanna see a clip of a person reportedly using psychokinesis to move objects across a table? Now, I’ve made salt shakers and matches move, too–back in my magician days, but I always used a very clear, very thin piece of fishing wire. Or small magnets–those worked, well, too. But the idea that someone can move objects at will–without any tricks, well, that just intrigues me.
Psychokinesis is also known by the, perhaps, more familiar name of telekinesis.
And, in case anyone out there was a fan of Firestarter with Drew Barrymore (I so enjoyed that movie and the use of psychic powers), well, little Drew’s talent was a variant of psychokinesis. The ability to start fires using only one’s mind is called pyrokinesis.

This week, I’m going to try something different here at the ol’ blog–I’m going to post an entry a day on psychic powers. I’ve always been intrigued by the idea of psychic powers, and I thought I’d talk a bit about the powers that have always fascinated me the absolute most.
And, on a related note, I’m pleased to announce that I’ll be participating on a Psychic Panel at the 2008 Romantic Times Convention. The title of the panel is: PSYCHIC FICTION: PSYCHIC CRAVINGS: WHY ARE READERS HUNGRY FOR THIS GENRE?
And, in case you’re planning to attend the convention, here are a few more details:
“Thursday, April 17, 2008, 10:30 – 11:30am: From The Medium to The Lotus Circle, psychic fiction is drawing attention across multiple media formats. What’s the appeal? Learn what makes a good psychic read from some of the top authors in this subgenre. Captain: Eden Robins; Panelists: Marilyn Campbell, Cheryl Dragon, Jennifer Dunne, Cynthia Eden, and Catherine Stang.”
So, tune in this week for my psychic fest! And, please, if you have a favorite psychic talent you’d like to share, leave me a comment!
