Traveling, Conferences, Etc…

Posted in Romance on July 30th, 2008 by Cynthia Eden

So, I figured it was long past time that I updated my events page because I’ve got some conferences coming up.

Here are some of my more immediate (by immediate, I mean the next few months) plans:

August 29-August 31, 2008: Heather Graham Writers for New Orleans Workshop.

October 3-October 5, 2008: Moonlight and Magnolias Conference in Atlanta, GA.

November 1, 2008: Romance Readerโ€™s Luncheon in Birmingham, AL.

Next year, I’ll be attending the Romantic Times Booklovers Convention in Orlando (April 22-26, 2009). I had such a great time at my last RT Convention–I’m really looking forward to the trip!

I don’t know yet if I’ll be at the RWA Convention in Washington, D.C., or not in July of 2009. I like D.C., but I haven’t firmed up my plans for that trip yet. Right now, I’m super envious of all my writing buddies who are at the big convention in San Francisco, so if I don’t want to be eaten up by the envy again, I might better plan to get my butt on a plane!

Hope to see some of you on my travels!

“Let the bodies hit the floor…”

Posted in Romance on July 29th, 2008 by Cynthia Eden

I woke up with this song in my head today. As I’ve rambled around the house, I’ve caught myself singing it a few times. Sigh. I know why, of course–got a big fight scene coming up in my WIP–and this song, well, it’s one that would fit my hero, Jude, pretty well.

I have a feeling this song won’t be going anywhere until that scene is done. Let’s just hope I don’t scare any nice folks by bursting out with this song while I’m shopping in Wal-Mart. ๐Ÿ™‚

In other news, today is an awesome book release day.

First up, TURBULENT SEA by Christine Feehan. I love Feehan’s stories. (I’ve been addicted since my first Carpathian read.) This release is a Drake Sisters story–only one more to go!

The next book I want? THE ACCIDENTAL DEMON SLAYER by Angie Fox. Looks hilarious!

More news:ย  Angela Knight has a great interview up with Fox news. Such a very classy lady.

For all of those heading off to San Francisco for the big convention–have fun, be safe–and bring me back some good industry news/gossip!

Writing…

Posted in Romance on July 24th, 2008 by Cynthia Eden

Sorry I’ve been absent a lot this week. I’ve been hitting my daily page goals, and I finished (and turned in–yay!) an article for the Romance Writer’s Report. It’s a paranormal article, one tentatively titled: Get Your Ghoul On. Basically, it’s ten things writers should know about the paranormal romance market and/or writing paranormal romances. It’s currently scheduled for the October issue of the RWR–just in time for Halloween.

My WIP is rolling along. A couple more weeks, and I should be finished. Well, finished with the rough draft, anyway. Then I get to go back in and add and delete and add and delete…

For those wondering about my previously mentioned book club–yes, I am definitely still planning to start the book club. I’ve been getting some wonderful assistance from Zoe, Amber, Amanda, Ashley, and Felecia–thank you, ladies!!! We’ve got a MySpace page up and running–well, okay, more tweaks will be coming to the page, but if you want to take a look (and friend us), it’s at: www.myspace.com/wittyandwickedbooks.

I’ll post full details about the book club within the next day or so. But, here’s a quick rundown: A group of romance fans have gotten together to form a romance book club. Yep, that’s us. Some of the group members live in the same sweltering area of the south, and we’ll meet once a month to discuss our book selection. BUT, the club also has an online division–and anyone, anywhere is welcome to join the online book club. We have a Yahoo group for the book club discussion, and, if you want to join, it’s: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/wittyandwickedbooks.

The way the club works: A romance book is chosen each month as the book club selection. Print books and ebooks can be picked–doesn’t matter to us. All romance sub-genres will be explored. If authors want to put their books up for selection consideration, we have a questionnaire that they can fill out.

We are NOT a review site. We’re just a group of ladies who love romance books and want to talk about them.

And, yes, our first book club selection will be going up soon. The book club will officially launch with an August pick. ๐Ÿ™‚

More details to come…
