SGet BURNED with Kaylea Cross (Plus Giveaway!) Back to Blog

Update:  The winner of IGNITED and SINGED is…Erica Gonzalez!

Happy Friday, everyone!!! I hope that you are all gearing up for a terrific weekend! And, to get weekend started right…I’ve got a special guest visiting the blog today. Romantic suspense author Kaylea Cross is here to chat about her new release, BURNED. (I can’t wait to read this one!).  Kaylea also has a wonderful giveaway, so please–read on! 😉  And, Kaylea–welcome!

Feel the Heat With Kaylea Cross’s Burned

A big thank you to Cynthia (Ahem, recent #2 NYT Bestseller, I might add! Woot!) for having me on her blog again.

I’m thrilled to announce that the third book of my new Titanium Security series released this week. To celebrate Burned being out in the wild, I’m giving away a digital copy of both Ignited (book #1) and Singed (book #2). To enter, please tell me what you love most about romance books.

Without further ado, please meet Sean and Zahra!

Blurb:
A woman with a dark past…

Forced into hiding after her NSA-sanctioned task force lands on a terrorist cell’s hit list, cryptologist Zahra Gill must rely on the skill and experience of her ex-Special Ops Titanium Security teammates to keep her safe—including former Force Recon Marine Sean Dunphy. The impossibly sexy man has the unnerving ability to shatter her concentration by simply walking into the same room. Even though she’s sworn to keep him at a distance, his charm and protectiveness weaken her resistance. Drawn to his strength and magnetic sensuality, she finally gives in to the passion she’s denied herself for so long…even though she knows she might lose her heart in the process.

The man strong enough to win her trust…

Sean’s had his eye on the guarded, proud analyst from the first day they met. He knows she’s hiding something from him, but nothing could have prepared him for the shocking truth of her past. When a targeted attack brutally exposes Zahra’s dark secrets, Sean will do everything in his power to protect the woman he’s fallen for. Unfortunately the cell hunting them has powerful connections and their enemy is closer than they ever imagined.

Excerpt:

When he turned back to her, Sean’s dark eyes glittered with an erotic heat that stole her breath. He stood close enough that she had to tip her head back to look into his face, and held up a chocolate covered strawberry to dangle it in front of her mouth. “Open up, sweetness.”

Combined with the sexual awareness in his eyes, that deeply intimate tone sent a flare of heat into the pit of her stomach and between her thighs. Held prisoner by his intense gaze, she parted her lips as he placed the berry against them. And he didn’t stop the seductive move there. Instead of popping the morsel into her mouth, he eased it partway between her teeth and held it there, watching her closely as she bit down and sucked the juices away so they didn’t spill down her chin. Sean flashed a predatory smile and bent his head, stopping only when his warm breath feathered over the corner of her mouth.

“Wider.”

The erotic whisper made her grow slick and swollen as she envisioned another naughty scenario. Him holding his erection out to her like he was offering a treat, one hand gently pulling her head close enough for him to brush the slick head against her waiting lips. She shivered, struggled to concentrate.

As though he knew what she was thinking, he smiled and pressed the berry more firmly against her parted lips. “Come on, sweetness, open wide. I know you want it.”

God, did she. The suggestive way he said it made her go liquid. Licking her lips, she parted her mouth and allowed him to slide the berry in. She bit down, taking the rest of the fruit up to the stem, closing her hand around his strong wrist to hold him still. Meeting his stare, she boldly slid her tongue out to stroke across his thumb and fingertip, then closed her lips around them and gave a slow, firm suck.

*end excerpt*

Whew! Sean is one sensual hero, I’ll tell you that much. Zahra doesn’t stand a chance at keeping his distance from him.

Hi Kaylea! I don’t need to be in the contest as I bought Burned as soon as I saw it was released! I just wanted to say Congrats! Now that you are pushing out those books like Cynthia and Katie I can’t keep up with them all. But, it is fun to have Singed and Burned together so I can read one right after another. And I just requested Lethal Pursuit from NetGalley! Having too many books to read is a good thing, though, so keep ’em coming!

    • Kaylea Cross says:

Hi, Amy! I’m trying my best to be faster, but I’ll never match either Cynthia or Katie’s speed. They both floor me!

I hope you enjoy the books. Lethal Pursuit is my favorite of the Bagram series and I’m so excited to have Maya and Jackson’s story out soon!

  2. Sherry says:

Congrats on your release Kaylea. I love romance books because they always usually have a happy ending. And sometimes we need Happy Ever After in our lives. 🙂

  3. Sue Peace says:

Hi and looking forward to this book!! I love the journey of the romance…every journey is so different!

  4. Erica Gonzalez says:

Congratulations on your release can’t wait to read it….

  5. Shannon Horton says:

I love the work the couples go through together and then they get their happily ever afters…

  6. Zita R says:

Congrats on your new release, the book sounds really good. What do I like most about romance books? The strong emotional connection between the characters is something I don’t see in real life and that it always works out for them in the end. I just love HEA’s!

    • Kaylea Cross says:

Zita, I hear you! I’m addicted to my HEAs as well. There’s so much ugliness and pain in the world–it’s so nice to escape into the pages of a book where love conquers all.

  7. Karen B. says:

Reading a romance takes me out of my life for awhile. It puts me somewhere where I don’t have to worry about bills or work or my relationship. I can just hang around someone else’s life for awhile.

    • Kaylea Cross says:

Karen, yes! Entertainment and escapism, and hopefully we learn something with each story we read as well. I love to teach my readers things about various branches of the military, etc.

  8. Colleen says:

Congrats on the book! What I love about romances… the HEAs… seeing all types of characters in different romance genres get to their HEA. 😀

  10. Cynthia Eden says:

    Congrats on BURNED!! 😉

  11. Michele says:

    Congratulations on your newest release!!!!

What I love about romance books is reading about the struggles the main characters have to go through to get their HEA. I especially like if its not a connected story that there is a brief epilogue to tell you where they are.

    Thanks for the giveaway Kaylea!!!

    • Kaylea Cross says:

      Thank you, Michele!

I like epilogues if a story needs some loose ends tied up, or if we need to see a couple later on to really solidify their HEA.

  12. catslady says:

I love all the different genres but it’s the addition of romance that is the added bonus and makes a story so much better. Your book sounds wonderful and I really love that cover!

  13. Kristine R says:

Congrats on your release. Your book cover is an eye grabber and the blub is intriguing. I love most about romance books the characters physical and emotional struggle together. I love how they deny their attraction to the last minute.

  14. Theresa Fischer says:

The falling in love and happily ever after! Congratulations on your new book release.

  15. Michelle K says:

I love that I know there will be a HEA (I’m echoing lots of the authors and comments from the Read-Romance month, which has been awesome). I already bought Ignited, so I would only need Burned- so could I donate Ignited to another commenter so 2 people could win a book apiece? Love your work!

    • Kaylea Cross says:

Michelle, yes, the giveaway is for 2 winners!

And there’s also Singed, which is book #2 of the series (and it features my favorite hero of the series, Gage, who I have a big crush on).

Hope you enjoy Ignited! It’s very intense.

  16. Eva Millien says:

The whole boy meets girl, have a lot to work out and then the big HEA. Basically the whole thing. Their dreams of true love coming true. Thanks for sharing and for the giveaway. I haven’t read any of this series yet, but I have added it to my TBR. evamillien at gmail dot com

    • Kaylea Cross says:

Hi, Eva! I’m really excited about this new series. My favorite hero so far is Gage, who is featured in book 2 (Singed).

I like it when the HEA doesn’t come easily for the hero and heroine :).

  17. Carolyn McCanna says:

Thanks for the giveaway! I like to read because it is like being in another place and time.

  18. jackie woodland says:

Congrats on Burned, I love when books are a series always like to see what is happening to people that are mentioned in the books…. thanks for the giveaway 🙂

    • Kaylea Cross says:

Hi, Jackie! I love series too, especially when we get to see the whole cast of characters throughout all the books. I like each book to be centered around a particular couple, but it’s nice to see all the other characters as well.
