Historical Time With Jennifer Haymore Back to Blog

Update:  The winner of SECRETS OF AN ACCIDENTAL DUCHESS is..Lucy Nina!

I’m trying to vary my book spotlights…sometimes featuring paranormals, romantic suspense tales, and…historicals.

Because she is one of my favorite historical authors, I wanted to spotlight Jennifer Haymore now.  And if you haven’t read Jennifer, then here is your chance!

Blurb time:

With her pale hair and slim figure, Olivia Donovan looks as fragile as fine china, and has been treated as such by her sisters ever since a childhood bout with malaria. But beneath her delicate facade, Olivia guards a bold, independent spirit and the kind of passionate desires proper young ladies must never confess…

It was a reckless wager, and one Max couldn’t resist: seduce the alluring Olivia or forfeit part of his fortune. Yet the wild, soon-to-be Duke never imagined he’d fall in love with this innocent beauty. Nor could he have guessed that a dangerously unpredictable rival would set out to destroy them both. Now, Max must beat a Madman at his own twisted game–or forever lose the only woman to have ever won his heart.

***

Sounds awesome, huh? Want to win a copy?  (Winner’s choice–print or digital.)  Tell me…if you could go back and live in any historical period,  when and where would you go?  One winner will be randomly selected to win. Good luck!!!

I would go to Egypt when they built the pyramids. My family loves learning about mummies and Egypt and that would answer all of our questions.—Rachel

  5. Viki S. says:

Because I have a thing for Greek gods I think ancient Greece would be my choice.

  6. Raonaid Luckwell says:

Would go back to willingly study and train with the druids, to learn the truths that we don’t know.

If I could have a modern restroom and my kindle and the figure to go with it I would choose the roaring twenties!

  11. Lucy Nina says:

If I were to choose, I would choose the Renaissance era because it marks the rebirth of humanism and where artists created works that displayed artistic freedom and individualism. Not to mention those awesome dresses 🙂

  12. infinitieh says:

I think I’d like to watch how the great pyramids or Stonehenge were built. I’m hoping, of course, that I can come back; I don’t want to stay there.

  13. Chelsea B. says:

Oh, Regency era London, for sure! The pretty gowns, the courtship…. siiiigh…. 🙂

  14. Lora Patten says:

I would probably choose 16th century Scottish Highlands as I have Scotland in my blood (my father was a Scotsman). Scotland’s history is rife with turmoil and battles over rulership between Scottish and English royals. It would be both exhilarating and terrifying to witness those events first-hand and discover what those times were like for those living in Scotland.

  15. Sheryl Nyary says:

Man, there are too many time periods for me to choose from. I think my all time favorite is ancient Greece, especially with the Gods and Goddesses.

  16. StacieD says:

I think I would live in the Old West. I grew up on a farm so I would know how to take care of the animals and ride a horse.

  17. JoAnna B says:

I don’t think I could handle it but I think the Renaissance is where I would go.

  18. Patty C says:

Oh my to see the Scottish Highlanders in their homland say around 1600’s, mmmm mmmm

  20. patti silva says:

I would either be a highland lass or in the wild west! I’m way too independent to be a london lady! 😉

  21. Cheryl McInnis says:

Definitely Regency England…the dresses, the shoes, the balls!

  22. Colleen says:

Pagan Ireland… that would be interesting to see.

  23. Jolene A says:

ohhh, I would love to go to ancient Greece

  24. May says:

Regency England… Kind of traditional but I still love the balls, the dresses, the manners…

  25. Cris says:

Medieval Scotland, hands down… albeit only in the summer ‘cos there’s no way I’d put up with the cold with nothing but a plaid, no insulation, and a fire to keep me warm.

Ancient Greece would be pretty legend as well… 🙂

  26. Aretha zhen says:

I would like to go to the Early 20th century at Paris to meet Ernest hemmingway, f scott Fitzgerald , just like the guy in the movie midnight in Paris . It would be s fantastic experience 🙂

  27. winnie says:

I would choose either Regency England or Medieval Scotland. 🙂

Turn of the 20th century New York. Now that was a fun time in history!

I’d like to visit 1800s England.

  31. Na S. says:

I would like to go back to 1600s Scotland.

  32. Hilleary Peterson says:

I think I would like to go back early England, Scotland or Ireland. I am think 1200, 1300. There were not quite all the rules of “society” but there were knights and ladys and castles, and healers. Where some still practice the old religions with the new

  33. JessS says:

I tend to have a superior attitude to the past, because I feel like now is a pretty good time to be living in. If I had to I’d probably want to go back a couple of hundred years, yes to regency England. Although I’d love to see Ancient Rome, just not live there.

  34. Fedora says:

I’d be open to visiting almost any past era as long as I didn’t end up in extreme poverty (life is SO hard when you’re dirt poor in any time) and as long as I could return here–I’m rather attached to many of the modern conveniences! I’d be curious to visit ancient China, for instance (minus the era of footbinding, please)…

I would love to live in the 1600’s Scotland, and really see if some of the romance stories could have happened for real. Where highland warriors fought for their lady love. Scotland is a beautiful country.
