My local RWA group will be hosting a writing conference on the beach in April of 08. Yep, that’s right…I said the beach.

If you’re looking for a great weekend getaway–one that includes a beautiful view of the beach and one that will allow you to hone your writing skills–then you need to attend the Silken Sands Conference in Pensacola, Florida.

Here are some more details about the conference:

Dates: April 11-13, 2008

Price:  Well, if you register before October 31st, you can get the early bird rate of $125. After October 31st, the rate will increase.

Keynote Speakers:  Sherrilyn Kenyon and Catherine Mann

Workshops:  I’ll be presenting a paranormal workshop…HOW TO KEEP THE “NORMAL” IN YOUR PARANORMAL STORIES. I’ll discuss methods for giving human traits and flaws to non-human characters. Of course, there will also be a ton of other workshops, and you can view the conference brochure here.

The conference will also provide writers with the chance to pitch stories to agents and editors–come on, people–that’s important!

So, mark your calendars and get ready for an April trip to the beach!
