Gotta Love Those Series Back to Blog

Update: Lauren’s winner is…Jamie Birdwell! Congrats, Jamie!!

My name is Lauren Dane and I admit it, I love series. Reading and writing them.

Lucky for me, my readers love them too so I get to write more of them. I love to write a series of books with the characters’ connection to one another as the uniting theme. My Chase Brothers for instance, or the spin off series from my Cascadia Wolves, de La Vega Cats.

Cascadia Wolves was my first series featuring shifters as main characters. I love the Warden family and their mates and I had a great deal of fun writing the books in the Pellini story arc.

I haven’t stopped writing about that world though, because I do love it and because it’s big enough for me to spin off to other packs and other paranormal characters.

Which is what I did with TRINITY.

TRINITY finally gave one of my favorite characters from the Cascadia Wolves series, Jack, his HEA with Renee, a witch and Galen, a jaguar shifter. It started a whole new group of stories and characters, while retaining a connection to Cascadia.

I loved stepping from the world of wolves into the world of cats. I love shifters in general, but cats were newer territory so I got to build an entire culture to give Galen and his family context.

I love writing wolves, but big cats have proven to be just as fun to write. A cat moves with power and grace. A cat can be silly and definitely lazy. Even jaguars like to lay around in the sunshine.

TRINITY was also the start of a two book story arc. The story of Renee and Kendra’s past, of what happened to their mother and why will conclude by the end of REVELATION.

In REVELATION I make the full shift to the world of big cat shifters, with the de La Vega family at the center. We learn more about Max and Galen’s family as Kendra, Renee’s sister and the heroine of the book, falls in love with Max and spends time with them.

I’ve fallen in love with Boston and my cats, with the National Pack wolves and the witches we’ve met and will continue to as the series moves forward. I hope you all do too! If you’d like to read an excerpt or blurb for either book, the book covers will take you to the pages at my website!

Do you like series? If so, got any favorites? Do you stick to certain genres?

I’ve got a digital copy of TRINITY and a digital ARC of REVELATION to give away to one winner chosen from the comments below.

Thanks for having me,

Lauren

I LOVE a good series, and my fav one right now is JR Ward’s Black Dagger Brotherhood. I love being able to revisit past characters and see new characters develop over other story lines 🙂

Hi Lauren, Paranormal series are the only types of books I read. Love them. Katie MacAlister’s Dark Ones, JR Ward’s BDB, Christine Feehan’s Carpathians, Gena Showalter’s Lords of the Underworld. Your shifter series sound really good also. **entering Lauren Dane’s name on my TBB list**

I love series, I love getting drawn in by the worlds and characters and it makes it even better when I know that I’ll be seeing the characters again as well as falling in love with new ones.

They’re a lot of series that I’m into, it’s almost impossible to choose a favorite.

    Wow let’s see.

    3. The Dark Hunter/Were hunter stories by Sherrilyn Kenyon

I’m an eclectic reader and read many different types of books and simply love a great story…but after reviewing my favorite lists, I have to admit that I must be a series junky too because most of my favorite books are part of a series.

I’m currently reading an old series some consider the first popular erotic novel/series by Sergeanne Golon titled Angelique, Angelique In Love, Angelique in Barbary….etc. and enjoying every page.

I also have loads of different types of series that I adore: Skye O’Malley by Bertrice Small, Breed Series by Lora Leigh, Malloy family by Beth Williamson, Highlands and Dante’s Pirates by Marsha Canham, Outlander Series by Diana Gabaldon, Nature of Desire by Joey Hill, House of Pleasure by Kate Pearce, ITeam/MccKinnon/Blakewell by Pamela Clare, Promise Series by Sarah McCarty, Chase Brothers by Lauren Dane and many many more.

I love series and I have many favourites: Christine Feehan’s Carpathians and Ghostwalkers; Alex Archer’s Rogue Angel books; Lynsay Sands Argeneau’s; Lora Leigh’s Breeds; Lee Child’s Jack Reacher books; Nalini Singh’s Guild Hunters and Psy/Changelings; Kresley Cole’s Immortals After Dark; Johanna Lindsey’s Malory’s; Lauren Dane’s Witches Knot, Cascadia and Federation books; Eileen Wilks World of the Lupi and many many more series. I definitely cross genre – historical, paranormal, action, suspense I’ll read them all. If I find a series that I like I will stick with it all the way through, although there are times, such as Stephanie Laurens Cynster books, where the series has gone on for too long and other series where the series hasn’t lasted long enough – I would love to see more of Lauren’s Cherchez Pack series.

  7. I LOVE series! How good is it to know that you have 5-7 more books to read in the series when you are in love with the book you are reading?

My favourite urban fantasy series are the Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews, Women of the Otherworld series by Kelley Armstrong and the Embers series by Laura Bickle.

In chick lit I really liked the Shopaholic series by Sophie Kinsella until the 4th book, and in romance I love Monica McCarty’s Highlander series 🙂

    LOVE series 😀

I love your Cascadia Wolves series and as many have stated above, I am so excited about another book coming out. My favorite book from the series was Fated. It was smart, funny, fresh and oh so hot is all the right places. I have read every one of the books in the series. I just finished Trinity a couple weeks ago.
I tend to jump all around in regards to the types of books I enjoy. I can’t get enough of Cynthia Eden’s Night Watch series as well as am hooked on the Rough Riders series by Lorelei James. Another great series are the Breed books by Lora Leigh. And shelly Laurenston’s Pride series is AMAZING! I like some humor and fun in the books I read along with the passion. I could go on and on, but I think I’ll quit while ahead.
BTW…. Another Chase book wouldn’t hurt:)
