Hey everybody!  Happy Friday!  I wanna give a huge shout out to miss Cynthia and thank her for letting me have a bit of space here during this huge party month for her!  And a huge congrats on her books finalling in all those contests! Woot!

his-darkest-hunger-officialA little introduction, I’m Juliana Stone a new author on the paranormal scene and my debut came out in April from Avon,  HIS DARKEST HUNGER!

Isn’t it pretty!!!????  My series, The Jaguar Warriors deals with a family of jaguar shifters and all sorts of other paranormal beings, but the main focus in this particular story arc are the Castille brothers.  They are all very different from each other but share a few common characteristics.  They’re  tall, dark and dangerous!  Just the way I like them!

I have several secondary characters, one of which, Cracker, a critique partner of mine totally loves.  I can see why, he’s rough around the edges with an air of mystery that deepens as each book progresses.  I’ve also had several readers write me about Declan O’Hara…the sorcerer.  I will freely admit since I began to write book two in this series, I’ve been looking ahead to his book.

There’s something about him that really touches me and I’m crushing huge on Declan these days.  He’s an arrogant, sharp, witty and sarcastic dude who I fashioned after David Boreanaz….um, after I saw this pic:

david-b-as-jagger

yeah, I know…this is one sexy picture!  But all of this got me to thinking…what is it about certain characters that call to you?  I’ve read books before where a secondary character will stay with me for days afterward…and I can’t wait to read their book!

Luckily for me, I just started the fourth book and it stars the delicious, naughty and dangerous Declan O’Hara!  In honour of this I am going to give away two signed copies of HIS DARKEST HUNGER as well as a few copy flats that I just recieved today for my second book, HIS DARKEST EMBRACE.

All you have to do is tell  me what makes a character sexy for you personally, and who was the most interesting secondary character in a recent book that you’ve read, one whose story you cannot wait for!

Sound cool?  Feel free to visit me as well at www.julianastone.com   where you can read the first chapter in my second book, HIS DARKEST EMBRACE…

Hi, Juliana! Thanks so much for posting with me! As for characters, I love those dark, dangerous, and sexy guys. I’m like Buffy–I like a little monster in my man. 🙂

Hi Juliana! Thanks for visiting with us today 🙂 [And thanks for having the awesome summer event, Cynthia!)
As for what make a character sexy for me? Personality. The hero has to be smart, capable, and devoted (to the heroine). Of course amazing good looks and a perfect body don’t hurt. But if he’s not likable as a person? Blech.

  3. Valere says:

Oh yeah, that tall, dark, handsome, a bit of a bad boy…yum!!!! He’s gotta be totally devoted to the heroine. He can be alpha all the way, but he has to melt for his gal….sigh!!!!

  4. Darcy in PRIDE AND PREJUDICE is my favorite. However, the qualities, that I look for are loyalty, protectiveness, but not smothering, good sense of humor. He can have alpha tendencies, but a kind heart is essential. The secondary character, that I most want to see is Dashiel Thorpe from THE WOLF NEXT DOOR by Lydia dare.

  5. Christine Richard says:

The thing that makes a man sexy to me is and edgy attitude and a chip on his shoulder. While I shouldn’t like these things, I do. And a LOT of sexual experience, so he knows how to get the job done. The characters I read about seem to have been in many, many dark, lustful situations to have gained the experience they have. (So I guess I can assume the authors know a thing or two about dark, lustful situations, haha). I recently read Dangerous Games by Lora Leigh and Clint was to die for. However, Kell Krieger was introduced in the book. She described him dancing at a BSM club and I could just picture it. Then, later he comes up at the critical moment and slits the bad guys throat. She called him a “specter of death,” which to me is sooooo hot. Love military experience in the characters as I am in the military, especially black ops. MMMMMMMMMMMMM

    Hi Juliana!
oh I will go with the dark alpha male who have some secrets and falls for his mate *dreaming* the most interesting secondary character for me is Maddoc (Shannon K. Butchers paranormal series) – since we met him in book 2 I can’t wait to read his story!!! and fortunately his book will be out in November *wohoo*
wish you all the best, Ina

    Hi Juliana,
For me, mystery and darkness makes a male sexy for me… of course he has to be the bad boy, they are the sexiest 🙂
I recently came upon Donna Grant’s Dark Sword series, and I thoroughly enjoyed them. I can’t wait for Quinn’s story, he is the youngest brother of three and so dark, mysterious and sooo sexy 🙂

  8. Barb P says:

Hi Juliana! I have to agree with the alpha male/bad boy thing. Although I like a strong female character too, so I appreciate a male lead who can allow the woman to take care of herself and be confident in her abilities in a crisis. He doesn’t have to be extremely handsome to be sexy, just masculine. Actually some secondary characters that I’ve been waiting are from Cynthia’s books (Can you say I’ll Be Slaying You)! Thanks for stopping by today.

  9. Marissa says:

    Hi Juliana,
Thanks for stopping by. As for characters, I love those tall, dark, dangerous, and sexy guys. Yummy!

  10. Quilt Lady says:

Oh I love the cover of this book! It sounds like a really great read!

  11. CrystalGB says:

What makes a guy sexy to me is confidence, sense of humor, and having a good physique.

  12. Ali says:

Hi Juliana… thanks for the yummy pic 🙂 Great cover, too!
For me, I love a sexy alpha, who has a sense of humor and a sense of honor.
As for secondary characters, well, I’ve been reading ebooks by Leah Brooke’s recently, and her Desire, Oklahoma series is a mix of BDSM and Menages… and I’d just love to read about all the other guys she mentions in those stories, lol. Seriously, they all sound hot, and so protective of their women *sigh*

  13. Viki says:

Hi Juliana, I can’t wait to read your book – I so LOVE cats! Especially shifter cats.
I also love the alpha male. But he has to be able to bend to his alpha female and he needs to have suffered severely in his past. Being drop dead gorgeous doesn’t hurt ;). Secondary character that has really interested me would be Drac from Frost’s Cat and Bones series.

  14. Jeanette Juan says:

I can’t wait for His Darkest Embrace! I want so badly!!! What makes a character sexy is if they are an alpha that is compassionate at heart. Being humorous is a definite plus and a secondary character I loved was Catherine Marks in Lisa Kleypas’ Hathaway series. I really loved her mysterious character and anticipated reading more about her.

  15. Scorpio M. says:

Hi Juliana, just wanted to drop in to say hi & thank you!! I won a copy of ‘His Darkest Hunger’ and cannot pull myself away from it! I’m not kidding 🙂 Just started it last night and already fearing the end.

What makes a sexy man…Integrity, height & a sweet smile.

  16. elaing8 says:

This book has been on my TBR list since I first saw the cover and read the blurb.
What makes a character sexy is confidence, strength, sense of humor.
Secondary character from a book I recently read is Vlad from Jeaniene frost Night Huntress series.

  17. Colleen says:

Oh I love the cover! Sexy character… Well I enjoy the variety, but still go for Tall, Dark, & Dangerous with sinful eyes! 😉 As for Fav secondary character… hmmm I would have to think on that…

  18. Jane says:

Congrats on your debut release, Juliana. A man who is intelligent and has a sense of humor is very sexy. I’m waiting for Rowe who appeared in one of Laura Griffin’s book to have his own story.

  19. I love the growly alpha males with a hard exterior and a melty dark chocolate inside 😉 For fav 2ndary character – I’m really hoping that Vlad from Frost’s NH series gets his own book and I’m looking forward to Sin’s book in Ione’s series!

  20. Tracey D says:

    Hello, Juliana!

What makes a character sexy is his sense of humor! I have fallen in love with many alpha male characters who may be rough and tough but have the quirkiest sense of humor. I find myself laughing at them throughout the book!

  21. Raonaid Luckwell says:

I have your book in my TBR list! I can’t wait to read it. What makes a character sexy… humor but I also like a tortured being.. Someone so beyond perfect

  22. The tormented male wrapped in solitude who restrains himself from his own desires – whilst wanting nothing more than to give into them – makes a character incredibly sexy to me. The reasons, the conflict, the denial, the surrender (done right) all appeal to me.

One secondary character’s book I am anticipating the hell out of is Gideon’s from Showalter’s LoTU series. 🙂

  23. Spav says:

For me a character is sexy when he has confidence and courage.

The secondary character’s book can’t wait to read is the one of Hawke from the Psy/Changeling series by Nalini Singh.

  24. Sue Brandes says:

I like a sense of humor and some mystery to him. Is always there for the heroine. Smart & really good looking. I love your book cover. Your book sounds really good. Adding it to my to read list.

  25. Joder says:

I like a man that can be strong and yet show a gentle, emotional side. A perfect example would be Dean Winchester from Supernatural. He actually cries, and in such a manly way too.

A secondary character I adore and am dying to read more of is Qhuinn from JR Ward’s BDB. I feel so bad for him and just want to hug him.

  26. Diane Sadler says:

A strong yet dark and troubled soul. I just read a secondary character such as this in: Broken by Shiloh Walker a wonderful conclusion to the first book, Fragile

  27. Judy Cox says:

I find a man that is strong and confident on the outside but gentle and caring on the inside!! Tall, dark and handsome doesn’t hurt either 🙂

  28. Chelsea B. says:

I love heros who don’t know they are good looking, who care for their heroine from the beginning of the book, are strong, protective, and desire nothing more than making their woman happy 🙂 Sounds perfect!
And I finished about two weeks ago The Darkest Whisper by Gena Showalter and I cannot WAIT to read Paris book whenever she writes it!

  29. Nancy Gilliland says:

I love heroes who can show their softer side, and who can let their woman stand on her own, even when it is driving him insane. He doesn’t have to be handsome and strong, but it doesn’t hurt.

  30. Larena Wirum says:

I have His Darkest Hunger and absolutely loved it. 🙂

What I find sexy in heros is that they are strong but when they need to they are willing to get help for others. I also find a sense of humor very sexy. 🙂

I am really looking forward to the next book coming out. 🙂

  31. Stephanie G says:

What makes a character sexy to me? If I’m talking about pure physical appearance I would have to say tall, fit (no need for the extremely ripped body), dark hair, green eyes, great smile and no unibrow!

Now for the part that really matters. A character needs to make me laugh, have respect for women but also wants to protect her and is able to both kick @ss and show there is more to him than muscle.

  32. Jamie Birdwell says:

Humm I like um Tall, Dark and Sexy and love the bad boy brooding men. I LOVE dark hair and pretty eyes. But he has to have confidence and a sense of humor.

  33. Lucy says:

Like almost every one else here – the bad boy always turns me on. And a sense of humor is a MUST!

Vlad from Jeaniene Frost’s Night Huntress series! I really hope she can get a contract to write a noevel for him.

  34. blodeuedd says:

It depends, sometimes I like the big bad alpha male, sometimes the sweet hero. I guess it depends on my mood 😉

Lately, hm, Lord Akeldama from Gail Carrigers book cos he is so fun

  35. Virginia C says:

I love big, rough, gruff men with soft hearts. Kindness, intelligence and a sense of humor are essential. The “Alpha” male is the dominant leader of the pack. They have qualities and strengths which make them “number one”! Along with all that greatness can come arrogance, a “my way is the only way” attitude, and a sometimes ornery personality. However, their fierce devotion to their loved ones, their loyalty and their innate honor all go together quite nicely to smooth the rough edges. Not too smooth, though…leave some of that masculine allure…a little beard stubble to tickle your skin : )

  36. Ilona says:

I really like that cover. I also like my heroes to be tall, dark and handsome (cliched I know) but they must have plenty of charisma and character too. Even a beta man is fine if he comes across as lovable and honest 😀

  37. Edie says:

I find myself repeating a kit if what Virginia said. My favorite heroes have intelligent, humor and kindness. I also like them to be strong-minded. And if they’re a bit “I’m the man,” that’s good, but too much of it turns me off. Unless the heroine is equally strong and won’t let him get away with it. Then it’s fun to see their battles.

  38. I love an Alpha hero or a Beta with dominant characteristics. As for a secondary character who’s book I’m eagerly waiting…I’m waiting for the next one from Lisa Jackson…

  39. Heidi Shafer-Wilson says:

I have your book but I haven’t had a chance to read it yet. I’m trying to finish up some books i started and stopped. I love my characters to be tall dark, moody, with lots of layers that have to be peeled away to get to the heart of the man. If he is all up front I find him boring. I like a man with some secrets that you have to dig at. Makes him so much more attractive.
    Great post.
    thanks

  40. Pam P says:

I find various type of heros in books appealing to me. I think more than looks, it’s their traits more – some sense of honor/moralcode no matter how bad-boy they may be, smarts and wits, some sense of humor, protective of those they care about, can respect the heroine for her intelligence and capabilities still. The way they look at the heroine, focused on her and she knows it, that look that simmers of want and attraction.

  41. Casey says:

A ripped body. Yeah that’ll always turn me on 😉

And Vlad from Jeaniene Frost’s Night Huntress series is the number one secondary character that I want to read about.

  42. Sue A. says:

I like a character that can feel deep emotions, often hidden and seldom revealed, mysterious, with charisma and a rye sense of humor.

A man with smooth even skin, corded with muscles. Abs to die for and is rock hard to the touch. With eyes that meltz you to the core. And he must know he is in charge. A man who appreciates the fighting spirit of his women. Someone who stands out in the crowd. You must feel his power when he’s close.
