Why I Like Moonlight Back to Blog

So there’s a new vampire show on CBS–it comes on tonight, actually, and, despite what some critics have said, I’m really enjoying Moonlight. It’s an old tale–a vampire fighting to control his bloodlust, trying to be good, and falling for the good girl. The main actor (the vamp) does a very good job in my humble opinion (and I really enjoy the voice-overs) and I like the heroine, too–you know the type: spunky and smart.

I’ve been trying to figure out why I like the show, and I realized I enjoy the series because it’s a Superman show. Wait–let me explain. The heroine–she’s a reporter. The spunky, smart type as I noted before. Heck, we could just call her Lois if we wanted. The hero–he’s super strong. Very fast. He’s Superman, er, I mean the vampire. He’s the alpha hero, but without the beta presence of Clark Kent–and I dig that. He swoops in if the heroine needs his help, but, otherwise, he stays out of her way (well, okay, sometimes he lurks in a semi-creepy way).

Last week, the heroine found out the hero was a vamp. I kinda wish this big reveal had been put off for an end-of-the-season cliffhanger, but I’m interested to see where the writers will take the story now. Again, it’s like Lois and Superman–only it’s taken this Lois just a few weeks to unravel the whole secret identity issue.

Anyone else out there watched Moonlight? And am I the only one who sees the Superman similarities? Come on, people, last week, Mick had a Kryptonite moment (his big silver weakness!).

People keep talking about shows I haven’t watched. There are too many out there, lol. Lately some of the TV shows are better than the movies. I’m trying to limit my TV watching and zip along on my book.

Cynthia, I’m loving this show. Mick is soooo cute. Strong, yet vulnerable; very attractive in a man. LOL

LaDonna–if you try it, let me know what you think!

Edie…I’ve got another show for you. It’s called Phenomenon and it will air in about two weeks. I’ll give more details on that one, soon!

Hi, Jill! Ah, so glad to hear from another Moonlight fan!
