What makes you howl? Back to Blog

Update: The Amazon gift card winner is…leann! Congrats!

In HOWL FOR IT, my hero, Gage, is  a werewolf. A pack alpha. One tough guy who won’t let anyone or anything hurt the woman that he loves. And when Gage gets angry with those who threaten his lady, his inner beast sure does come out.

For the first prize of the day, I want to know…what makes you howl? Is there something that just makes you so angry that you feel the urge to howl at the moon? Come on, share! Venting can be good for you.

And that venting could help you to win a $25 Amazon.com gift card. I’ll pick one random winner to win the prize.  (Winner announced after 12 PM tomorrow. Good luck!

When my little girl comes home and says A and B won’t let me play with them today even though A and her are great friends when B isn’t around. B can sometimes get a little possessive of A even though my little girl wants to play with both of them. Silly drama for 8 year old girls! That is what makes me act like the mama wolf and howl!

Racism is what makes me very angry. My father(who I do no not see or speak to) was racist and it made my sister and me so upset. I hate to hear racial slurs.

Yesterday our car got broke into and they stole my niece’s ipod and her money. She was at her college class when they did this. If the person had asked my niece for the money, she would have given it to them. Now she doesn’t have her ipod to play her favorite music on the radio. She had another one but had already given it away to a friend that didn’t have one.

  6. Hm…I don’t get angry much – or even less where I’m angry enough to want to howl. I’m going to have to think on this.

Stupidity and Idiots make me howl. We were given and brain for a reason, but some people don’t know how to use theirs. Also it seems that common manners have gone to the wayside. These things just bring out my inner beast or as my daughter says”UH OH here comes Momma Bear”.

Rude drivers make me mad. I have to remind myself that I don’t want to be part of the problem, and that I have time to get to wherever I am going. I also have to be careful of what I say, because I’m always driving with little ones in the back seat 🙂

I want to howl when I have spent hours cleaning the house, doing laundry, dishes, making meals, etc for my family and I turn around to find my husband has left his dirty socks on the floor and the kids have left piles of clothes in their rooms and plates on the table. I just want to howl.. or cry… with frustration.

  17. Leagh says:

    Happy Release Day Cynthia!!!!! Woohooo!

First, Howl For It is amazing!!! I had the chance to read an ARC and really enjoyed both stories!

    What makes me howl???

Two things. First, like others above, when I spend an entire day cleaning and I get home from work the following day and it looks like the dirty elves have invaded. Grrrrr, makes me so angry.

Second, when people bad mouth people that I care about, authors included, I cannot stand it and I get super defensive and the claws tend to come out.

    Thanks for the giveaway!

I HATE it when people think they have the right to tell others how to live their lives. Everyone should have the right to live their own life the way they see fit (as long as they aren’t hurting anyone). These “holier than thou” people would never let anyone tell them how to live their own life, yet they think it’s okay to judge everyone else. They usually justify it with religion, but I call bulls**t on that.

When somebody’s on their cell phone while driving and isn’t paying attention, does something stupid then gives you a dirty look or flips you for honking your horn at them.

  20. Cindy Anderson says:

What makes me howl is when your coworkers say “the printer (and or copier) is out of paper, what do I do?” and you have showed all of them (at least a dozen times each) where the paper is and how to load the paper into the printer (and or copier). Come on people it is NOT that difficult to do not nor is it that hard to remember how to do it!

  26. BarbaraV says:

Ha, this is a good one. I howl at+ the mess in the house, shoes all over, the same for clothes. I don’t get how my husband and kids do not realized that is a place for clothes and shoes. There are not meant for the kitchen or the living room. This is something it drives me crazy.

  27. Melissa says:

Dealing with people who think they are much more important than they actually are (which I do for my job) makes me absolutely crazy and ready to howl. They truly believe everyone works for them even though they are paid by ME! You’re right – venting is good for you! Glad I got that out of my system 🙂

  28. Raonaid Luckwell says:

Friday, the 24th, those who are suppose to walk children to their buses and make sure they get on made me want to howl both in anger and distress. My son did not make it on the bus but another. That was the most frightening time of my life.

Another thing that makes me howl people that lie and say they care about you but stab you in the back.

    Happy Release Day, Cynthia!!
My son and husband make me want to HOWL when they don’t pick up after themselves. I mean, I am not their maid. I already have a 2 year old that I pick up after all day, a 37 year old and 13 year old should be able to handle their own mess. So frustrating.
There are many more things that make me feel that way, but that is the one that I am choosing to vent about today. 😉
    Thanks for listening.

Dealing with my children’s school district makes me howl. They say they are making decisions with our kids in mind but I think when it comes time I vote they even forget that kid of ours there in the back of their mind. They just look at the $$$$ to fuel any decision yet make and our kids get screwed!!! HOOOOOWWWWLLLLLLLLL!!!!!

  36. Kelsey S. says:

I agree with Audrie. Waiting for the next book in a series makes me howl. I hate waiting and have no patience. Mean middle school children also make me howl.

Happy release day. It looks great!

  37. Lois M. says:

Hmm… all I can come up with right now is that if I’m really tired, and really want to take a nap, but nothing is letting me, yeah, I can get a teeny tiny bit more irritated than I really should be. 🙂

Rude people drive me crazy. Especially people in check out lines. They can be SO nasty to the clerk. Gets my ire up all the time. Also, people talking with food in their mouths – just plain sick :(.

  42. Scrapper says:

Won’t mention company’s name but I hate having to call them for any service because one, I’m on the phone FOREVER! And two, they never show up when they say they will. Loved it when they never showed up and it was because they did a “remote” test and it was ok. Argh! (or howl!). 🙂

  48. Diana N. says:

I love reading any and all kinds of romances. As I work in a library, I sometimes ask my boss to purchase books that I, or other patrons, would like to read.

My boss, however, does not feel that buying “porn” (as she calls it) is a worthwile use of library money. This BURNS me: romances do not equal porn. I know some feel that pornography is in the eye of the beholder, but again: ROMANCES DO NOT EQUAL PORN.

It has got to the point where she won’t even consider purchasing any books with covers that feature half dressed men (not women, just men) or any book that uses sexy adjectives. I have to beg to get them for our digital library! And even then she buys them grudgingly and makes references to my “porn” books or those “smut/trashy” romance requests of mine.

Seriously! I don’t even have the right to request books (like any other patron) without derogatory commentary.

It makes me want to HOWL in anger. Or quit my job. Sometimes both. :0

  49. Christy Duke says:

There are SO MANY THINGS! I probably have anger management issues 😉 Road rage is inevitable. People being non-tolerant of others because of differences – that makes me furious. And, people being rude to someone who has to use handicapped parking, but has no outward disability that they can see. You’d be amazed how much that happens to myself and my fellow MS’ers.

  50. Hilleary Peterson says:

When my husband goes on one of his rants to try to educate someone when it is really just his opinion and will not listen to anyone else. Also the fact that my house never ever stays clean. Usually within an hour my husband and daughter ruin a clean house.
