New Book Back to Blog

I started writing a new book today.  I thought I would do my usual alternate beginnings routine (I generally like to write at least two beginnings for a book to see which one flows the best), but, this time, the first beginning seems to be working for me.  Seems to be is the key point here. I might write more and decide to go back and switch things up a bit–we’ll just see.  🙂  I wrote eleven pages today and I’m now back on my 10-pages-a-day rule.  Ah, I’ve missed writing.

I’m particularly excited about this book because, well, I just love writing paranormal stories around Halloween.  The mood is set for me and I can really get into the story.  It’s easy for certain times of the year to influence my mood.  Right now, I’m in the mood for some serious spookiness and it’s going to show in my writing.  This story is going to be very heavy on the paranormals, I can so feel it.

Anyone else in the Halloween writing mood?

Great on the new story, Cindy! I agree, love those shiny new books. I’m on a newbie too, and so far so good. Holidays are really fun to incorp in a story. And for you, what better one than Halloween? Let’s see, I’ve had Thanksgiving and Christmas show up in stories.

Cindy, that’s great! I’m starting a new book too. I have it plotted (vaguely). I need to know more about the characters before I start writing, but I already know my first couple scenes. Maybe first two or three chapters. 😀

Mine is paranormal, but I didn’t think of Halloween. Thanks for reminding me. That’s going to make it more fun.

Hi, LaDonna! Hey–you, Edie and I should so start a new book group. 🙂 That’s so cool that we are all starting at the same time.
I haven’t had Thanksgiving or Christmas appear in my stories yet, just Halloween. Hmmm…maybe I need to change that oversight! Wait–I’ve had New Year’s, too–but that was for a New Year’s anthology.

Edie, I don’t have mine plotted. 🙁 This is the first one in about 6 months that I don’t have mapped out, and I think I might try to wing it for a bit and see how that goes. Good luck with your paranormal! Keep me posted!!

Brandy, oh, me, too! I love reading those stories. I’ve got my son so many Halloween books, and we’ve already started reading them. And we’ll probably be reading them long past Halloween..
