Nancy Naigle and her Fa-la-la-lala Bon-Bons (She had me at “Fa!”) Back to Blog
Update: The winner from Nancy’s giveaway is…Hilleary Peterson. Congrats!
And the party keeps going!!! This time, my special guest is author extraordinaire Nancy Naigle–and Nancy is offering two great prizes: a copy of her book, Sweet Tea and Secrets and her favorite Harney & Sons tea. Talk about a great deal! Nancy, thank you so much for the giveaways and for coming to the party! It is a pleasure to have you here.
Pearl Clemmons in Sweet Tea and Secrets is known for her Chocolate Pecan Pie (and the recipe is in the back of the book), but I’m kind of known for this easy and yummy holiday treat. I call them Fa-la-la-lala Bon-Bons.
Fa-la-la-lala Bon-Bons
For any holiday party, gift, or next book club meeting that you want to have a melt-in-your-mouth to-die-for chocolate treat . . .
This easy Chocolate Truffle will make you the star of the day.
You will need:
One Box Cake Mix (Dark Chocolate/Milk Chocolate – whatever your pleasure!)
oil and eggs as indicated on the box mix
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa
1/2 cup confectioner’s sugar
1/2 cup apricot preserves (I promise you this is fab — use it!)
1 tsp vanilla
2 pkg (8oz) semi-sweet chocolate chips/squares
Step by Step:
Step One: Bake a chocolate cake following the directions on the box. Set aside and let cool.
Step Two: In a large pot slowly melt the butter.
Step Three: Add cocoa and sugar. Stir until smooth and glossy.
Step Four: Crumble the baked/cooled cake into the mixture.
Step Five: Add the apricot preserves, confectioner’s sugar and vanilla to the pot.
Step Six: Mix well blended and moist.
Step Seven: Roll the mixture into one inch balls or form small cubes. (You could use small ice trays or candy forms if you are feeling adventurous.
Step Eight: Place in refrigerator to chill. This makes dipping the treat into chocolate easier!)
DIPPING and DECORATING:
Melt the semi-sweet chocolate over low heat and stir until smooth.
Dip truffles into melted chocolate and place on wax paper. Let stand for an hour.
*Decorating:
You can drop sprinkles across the top of the truffles, or I like to get white chocolate and drizzle or draw a swirly circle on top. A wreath or holly leaf with berries using different colored decorating gels is a cute holiday theme as well.
If you are feeling especially adventurous, roll the still moist truffle in coconut or chopped nuts. The possibilities are endless!
Place them on a plate and wrap with cellophane and a bow, use a tin, or a little Chinese take-out box.
Pass along and share the delight!
~Hugs and Happy Holidays

And, now, for more about Nancy’s book (a book that is on sale for $1.99!)
Sweet Tea and Secrets (An Adams Grove Novel, Book One)
When beloved town matriarch Pearl Clemmons dies on a warm June afternoon, the folks of Adams Grove, Virginia, can hardly believe it. Sure, Pearl was eighty-five years old, but everyone—particularly her granddaughter Jill—just assumed she would live forever. Now Jill must return home to settle Pearl’s estate, comfort a town in mourning…and face Garrett Malloy, the man who broke her heart years ago.
Making matters worse, a string of break-ins at the Clemmons place has Jill and the rest of the town on edge. She can’t imagine what Pearl possibly could have had that is worth stealing. But when Jill’s safety is threatened, she and Garrett must join forces to unearth Pearl’s secrets before someone else—someone dangerous—gets there first. Garrett may have been the last man Jill wanted to see, but now, she may not want to let him go.

I know of a really easy recipes for truffles. You take crushed oreos or nutter butters mix with cream cheese until ball forms About 2 cups cookies to one bar cream cheese. Roll into smaller balls. Dip in melted bakers chocolate. Sprinkle with cookies crumbs a refrigerate til set. Adjust cookies and cream cheese to what ever suits you but don’t make them too dry. These are super easy and also very rich.
