Happy release day to Cynthia! I’m so excited about her release of Angel in Chains! Since she’s invited me here for her release day party I’m going to share some holiday awesomeness with you guys. Every year my mom bakes a bunch of to-die-for pies and cakes, but my favorite is her bourbon chocolate pecan pie. Pecan pie by itself is amazing and practically a must for the holidays if you live in the South, but add in chocolate and bourbon…omg, my mouth is watering right now. So how do you make this goodness, you ask?
What you’ll need:
1 pie shell
1 cup white sugar
1 cup light corn syrup
1/2 cup butter (one stick)
1/4 cup bourbon
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
4 large eggs
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup semisweet chocolate chip morsels
1 cup chopped pecans
How to Prepare:
1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F
2. In a small saucepan combine sugar, corn syrup, and butter. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until butter or margarine melts and sugar dissolves. Cool slightly.
3. In a large bowl combine eggs, bourbon, vanilla, and salt. Mix well. Slowly pour sugar mixture (#2) into egg mixture, whisking constantly. Next, stir in chocolate chips and pecans.
4. Pour mixture into pie shell.
5. Bake in preheated oven for 50 to 55 minutes, or until set. Serve warm or chill. Optional: add a dollop of whipped cream when serving.

I love Pecan pie but I’m the only one in the family that will eat it (the rest say it’s too sweet) so for the holiday’s our favorite dessert is an Italian Cream Cake – they are so good! Thanks for the recipe and the giveaway
I love pecan pie! How the heck have I never heard of adding bourbon?! I’m thanking you for the recipe now…but I probably won’t be thanking you after the holidays. I imagine we’re gonna’ eat a few of these pies! 🙂
My favorite holiday desert…Jello Spritz cookies. What?! Yes, I said Jello. 😉 They’re a family favorite, but I only make them once a year. We have red poinsettias, green trees & our latest addition is using the blue raspberry Jello to make “ornaments”. Kids love to help decorate them. Hubby just wants to eat them. lol
I make a chocolate covered frozen peanut butter pie! Here’s the link to a recipe that is most the pie I make:

My kids and my husband absolutely love this pie 🙂
Thank you for the great giveaway!

I love pecan pie but my kids and hubs don’t so I never have it anymore. I think I’ll try out your recipe. The bourbon just might get the guys attention :). My favorite holiday treat is orange fudge that I make from my grandma’s recipe.
Thank you.
OMG, that sounds so good! I don’t eat a lot of chocolate but with the pecan and bourbon – nom, nom!
I make a caramel pecan pumpkin pie every year and it is awesome. Add some vanilla ice cream and caramel syrup…I still have a few pieces left hidden in the fridge from Thanksgiving. Shhh… 😉
I also love those little rum cakes. Haven’t had one in a while…must remedy that this year!
I like all the holiday cookies that pop up during the holidays. And there’s this delicious pecan toffee (https://www.susiessouthforty.com/prodinfo.asp?number=IN-TGB) we get as a gift from one of clients…yum.
Hot lemon meringue pie , I can’t resist it. We don’t seem to be such pie fanatics here in the UK though unfortunately!
Mmm sounds so good! I love my moms cottage cheese kugens, potato chip cookies and her almond rocca
For Christmas, my favorite dessert is cookies! I love to make (and eat) many different kind during the holidays. 🙂
My hubby would love this pie, so I may have to make it for him.
I just recently finished Primal Possession , which I loved by the way, and cannot wait for Mating Instinct!
Thank you for sharing, Katie! And also for the chance to read another one of your stories. 😉
The pie sounds great. Chocolate and pecans are favorites of mine. Thanks for the recipe.
I love ice cream and this time of year the stores stock all sorts of great flavors like candycane and pumpkin. We keep the freezer full.
Love Pecan pie, definitely want to try your version. My favorite holiday dessert is steamed Christmas pudding, comes from growing up with English grandparents.
This sounds good. I’m copying your recipe 🙂 I had pecan pie for the first time last year. I’d say that’s right up there as one of my favorites. And my holiday magic bars.
Everyone has listed some yummy treats I would never turn down a chance to try! My favorite pie has to be deepdish pecan pie…I think your recipe may just become my favorite. I just have to find a working oven to make it in (my husband fixed my about 15 years ago – it’s been out of commission since then LOL)! Another favorite dessert( I haven’t had since my Nanny died in 1976) homemade Banana Pudding – she made it from scratch…it was so good.
Thanks for the giveaway – both prizes are fantastic.
Happy Holidays everyone.
Hi Katie 🙂
Love your books, especially your Red Stone Security series!!!!
My favorite holiday dessert is peanut butter pie, especially when it’s right out of the freezer, YUM!!!!
Thanks for sharing your mother’s recipe, love pecan pie 🙂
My favorite would have to be Christmas cookies!!!! It’s hard to pick out one, but you all know what I’m talking about 🙂 The cookies you only bake during this time of the year like cut out cookies, gum drop cookies, thumbprint cookies, I could go on and on 🙂
Thanks for the giveaway Katie!!!
That recipes sounds delicious!! My favorite holiday treat is Apricot balls – 2 Cups chopped dried apricots mixed with 1 can sweetened condensed milk and enough coconut 1-2 Cups usually to roll into balls then finish by rolling the balls in powedered sugar to eliminate the stickiness.
Wow…that recipe sounds yummy! I am going to have to try it!
For all the other readers-Miami, Mistletoe & Murder is a fantastic book- as are all the Redstone Security books. I highly recommend them. Katie is a fabulous writer…love her books!
Favorite for me would have to be Sweet Potato Pie, whoo hoo!!! Can’t get enough of it during the holiday season 🙂
There are so many yummy things during the holiday season it is hard to pick a favorite… but if I must I would say cut out cookies.
Katie – thanks for the contest! Pecan pie is a Southern staple, and I can’t wait to try your recipe. It may become our new holiday favorite.
My mom makes her secret recipe chocolate fudge during the Thanksgiving/Christmas holidays that has been my favorite for many years – milk chocolate and just the right amount of pecans – perfection!
Hiya! Wow! Love the recipe and I’ve sent it to my friend who’s a baker 😀
My favourite holiday dessert has to be Blueberry and vanilla cheesecake. I know it’s not very x-massy but it’s perfect after having a big x-mass dinner 🙂 But this year for x-mas I’m going to be baking Christmas Muffins, Coconut Christmas Wreaths and some cocktail food 🙂
Kind Regards,

I am weird in that I am not a big sweets fan. One in a while I like them and it is usually dark chocolate. The only think I really enjoy at the holidays is egg nog.
Norwegians are big on cookies at Christmas (I have both Norwegian heritage and a Norwegian husband). They traditionally make seven different kinds of cookies, although there’s major disagreement over what those kinds should be. I used to make all seven in a single day, primarily to minimize the amount of cookie dough I could consume!
My favorite holiday treat is raisin pie. (I see you gagging out there…HAHAHAHA). I’m the O.N.L.Y. one in my entire family who likes raisin pie. My mom used to make me one special every Christmas and now I make my own for me, me, me every year. ;o)
P.S. You’re a new author to me…I’ve added you to my list and am thrilled to read you.
Thanks!
Joey (no, I’m a girl)
Katie, I am so stealing that recipe! I am pecan pie lover and for Christmas I love me some chocolate pie! My mom makes the best homemade chocolate pies ever! Thank you for sharing and Happy Writing!
Christmas cookies:) my mom makes the best sugar cookies using Christmas cookie cutters and decorates them with icing.
Here at Puerto Rico we’ve our traditional drink that can not be miss during the Christmas.
Ingredients:
2 cans of evaporated milk, undiluted
2 cans of coconut cream
2 cans of coconut milk
1 can of condensed milk, undiluted
2-3 cups of white rum (this is as you like it more or less flavored liqueur)
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tsp vanilla
Procedure:
1. Mix the 4 milks.
2. They can do this by hand with a “whisk” or in a blender. (The truth is that it mixes better in blender that hand …)
3. Add rum, cinnamon and vanilla.
4. Serve in bottles or it can be put in glass jars. Cool well, and then drink it up.
Its almost illegal to not get a bottle as a present or drink in any of the parties.
My mouth is watering!! Sounds delish 🙂
I love peacan pie… Anything with caramel and nuts are terrific to me!
Not a big pecan pie fan, but the family would love it. Love Katie and her great books. She also has great covers. So, I am a total cover lover. Thanks for the giveaway.
Chocolate Mocha Cake and my mom’s Oatmeal Scotchie cookies.
My hubby would love this! I’m going to jot down the recipe. Me…Well, I’m not a fan of nuts, or bourbon, or chocolate. LOL. I do love the pumpkin rolls that see to magically appear this time of year–spongecake wrapped around cream cheese frosting. YUM.
Sorry, no bourbon for me – we have a family allergy! But I love the traditional vanilla wafer cookies in our family. Wafer thin, cemented together with seedless raspberry jam, and dipped in superfine sugar, then cold cured for at least two weeks.
My favorite is bourbon balls. I love these and make them every year.
Ooh that pie looks great. My problem is my weight so I can’t have lovely sweet treats like this. I have to stick with fruit and yogurt or similar. Poor me.
p.winmill@hotmail.com
my favorite christmas dessert is a ” Bûche de noel” in icecream ( not the traditional “cake ” one) moka/vanille or strawberry vanille
thank you a lot for opening your giveaway to international
all the best
isabelle(dot)frisch(at)gmail(dot)com
My favorites are pumpkin pie and fudge. I love fudge but who doesn’t. But I really like doing all the holiday cooking and baking
Ice cream cake. I don’t care how cold it is, I love ice cream and cake (not those crushed cookies some places use).
I don’t like any desserts with liquor… or nuts…or fruit.
I love turtle cookies and gingersnaps. I love how the house smells after I have made the gingersnaps. It always makes me think of the holidays.
My favourite Christmas dessert is shortbread.
*om nom nom* My favorite is gingerbread cookies, a classic and great when you get tired of all the big desserts this holiday.
Thanks for the giveaway =) I´m International.

I love pecan pie and adding bourbon and chocolate should make it even better. A favorite holiday dessert is mince pie made from a recipe from the 16th century which includes a bottle of whiskey and a bottle of brandy and has to cure for 2 months in a ceramic pot in a cool place.
I love pecan pie and apple pie ala mode.
Your recipe sound delicious. My favorite holiday dessert are butterball cookies:
http://www.food.com/recipe/butter-ball-cookies-272486
Every year we order them and we normally get like ten dozen or so because I hog them. You simply cannot just have one and put them away. This year though we are making them.
Sugar cookies! I love them and they always seem to taste better at Christmas.
My favorite new recipe is homemade peanut butter chocolate fudge. It is a hit everytime.—Rachel
The pie sounds great, Katie! I love all the cookies people make. I have my favorites from different people. The best part is I don’t have to bake them! 🙂 No need to enter me in the drawing – just wanted to show some blog love to you guys!
As a Southern girl myself, Pecan pie is one of my favorite holiday desserts. 🙂
Yum! I love pecan nut, but haven’t tried the pie yet (I live outside the US), but I’m taking notes, this recipe sounds delicious 😀
I love any kind of dessert, we usually make tons of gingerbread and other different cookies to eat them for breakfast during the holidays 🙂
Thank you for the great giveaway!
Pecan pie is my favorite!! I think adding chocolate chips would make it better!! LOL I tried pumpkin pie for the first time in my adult life and I liked it.. BUT PECAN PIE is for me!!
We have a nut allergy in the house so pecans are definitely out but it sounds amazing. My favorite dessert is my moms homemade fudge and the sugar cookies I make with my little ones. They are not all real pretty to look at because some have way to many sprinkles or way too much frosting but knowing my littles had a hand in creating the magic makes them taste that much better and perfect.
