Highlanders for Christmas–A giveaway from Donna Grant Back to Blog
Update: The winner of Midnight’s Seduction is…Glittergirl. Congrats!
Are you starting to get in the spirit of things? Maybe humming a little holiday tune beneath your breath?
You’re a mean one, Mister Grinch
You really are a heel,
You’re as cuddly as a cactus, you’re as charming as an eel, Mister Grinch…
Well, our next guest is definitely not a Grinch. In fact, she’s one of the nicest ladies that I’ve ever met–DONNA GRANT. Today is also the release day of Donna’s new book, MIDNIGHT’S WARRIOR (Congrats, Donna!).
Thanks to Cynthia for offering a spot on her blog. I love when I have a release the same time as a friend, and Cynthia and I had a blast yesterday with the Twitter party!
When Cynthia told me the theme for the blog was going to be Christmas I knew I was going to talk about how my Highlanders and Druids would spend Christmas.
My Warriors – immortal Highlanders with a primeval god inside them – have lived centuries. Many of those shut away from the world. A few were leapfrogged through time by Druid magic to wind up in modern day Scotland.
You can picture the time they have with cars, planes, mobile phones, razors, and a plethora of things we take for granted. When my Warriors time traveled, I had to put myself in their shoes and think about how they would react to something they didn’t understand.
With most of my heroines Americans, they bring in different set of traditions and thinking to these medieval Warriors. In MIDNIGHT’S MASTER that released in May of this year, the story is set around Christmas.
With the Warriors and Druids living in a castle, they got to put up a massive tree, and the Druids went all out with the decorations, as women are want to do. As fun as it was to mentally decorate a castle for Christmas, the most fun was the interaction between the characters.
Imagine one of the alpha Highlanders receive his first present – ever. Imagine that same Highlander trying to find the perfect gift for his woman, especially when the concept of “shopping” is as foreign to him this modern world he’s found himself in.
With MIDNIGHT’S WARRIOR (Dark Warriors #4) releasing today, Ramsey and Tara would have a quiet Christmas. They’d definitely do the celebrating with the others at MacLeod Castle, but they would then go off by themselves to sit in front of a roaring fire, the lights of the Christmas tree and decorations adding to the warm glow of the fire.
While sipping wine with Christmas music in the background, they would exchange gifts. Tara would give Ramsey a Celtic Tree of Life carved into a piece of oak from the Torrichilty Forest in honor of his family.
Ramsey would give Tara a gold necklace with a puffed heart that had a single diamond in the right hand corner to symbolize her having his heart.
So what are you giving your significant other this Christmas?
Tell me and you could be entered to win a copy of MIDNIGHT’S SEDUCTION:
Here’s the blurb for MIDNIGHT’S WARRIOR featuring Ramsey and Tara…
A HEART IN HIDING
For ten long years, Tara has been a woman on the run, hiding from the magic-wielding Warriors and Druids of modern-day Scotland. Now, as a tour guide at a remote Highland castle, she hopes to finally escape her past—until one impossibly gorgeous man enters her life…and exposes her wildest secrets.
A WARRIOR IN LOVE
For centuries, Ramsey MacDonald has concealed his strength and skill as part Warrior, part Druid, for fear of unleashing the full force of his power. But when he takes Tara into his arms—and seals their fate with a kiss—Ramsey will have to fight for her love…though it may mean losing control of the magic inside him.

It sure is, Irene!
Congrats, Donna, on the release of Midnight’s Warrior. My hubby has asked for one thing this year: a swing (for the backyard). It’s so sweet–so we can hang out together, on the swing, at the new spot that he’s landscaped in our backyard.
Thank you, Catherine.
That is sweet!
I’m a big fan of your books 🙂
I’m having a watch that my husband received when he graduated college fixed for him for Christmas.

My husband is getting some cd’s, aftershave and tools.
🙂 My hubby asked for a bunch of CDs, too.

p.winmill@hotmail.com
lmao! He sounds like my hubby when it comes to computers. 😀
Congratulations on the release! I do not have a significant other so I cannot say what I am giving them. I can say though that I have a friend who is going to love me, or so I hope lol. I am mailing her off today an ARC from one of her favorite genres and it’s even signed to her.
Thank you!
Oh, now that’s a great gift. I think your friend is definitely going to love you. 😀
I will be getting my hubby a celtic sword for the wall to hang with the rest in his collection :-). Cogratulations on your new book. I just finished reading Midnight’s Lover.
Ohhh! I collect swords and have them all over my office, so I’m loving this gift. and thank you!
My hubby is a huge Brewers baseball fan, so we are getting some brewer gear. He will be all decked out in nice looking stuff this year.
🙂 And he’ll love it all.
A trip to the nearest city.
Nice!
I haven’t decided yet. Horrible, isn’t it?! Really…my husband is the person I dread shopping for. He never says he wants anything (well, except for the 5′ flatscreen tv & that’s not happening). I think I just may get him a gift card to Academy & let him pick out his own gift this year!
lol. My hubby gives me a list a mile long. I’m the one who can’t ever think of anything.
I’m not sure what my husband is getting yet. He’s been dropping heavy hints about season 2 of The Walking Dead so that will be one thing.
lol. Love those heavy hint droppings. 😀
Thank you for sharing Miss Donna and I have to say I LOVE all of your series!! My Stud just surprised me yesterday with a trip to Vegas for the holidays. We leave next Thursday and are staying at the Venetian. He has always wanted to see the Blue Man Group, so that will be my gift to him this year. We were married in Vegas 12 years ago and have done our best to go back every year, but the past few years our schedules have not allowed for it. This is going to be a great getaway for the two of us and next week cannot get here soon enough. Happy Holidays to you and Happy Writing!
Aww. Thank you, Rana. I love to hear that.
And wow! Your stud sounds awesome. 😀 Y’all are going to have a great time. 🙂
My hubby is getting a new set of golf clubs, golf balls that I put funny saying on every year and new holiday boxers & sleep pants—Rachel.
I think your hubby is going to have a nice Christmas. 🙂
I have no SO at this moment, but if I did, I would most certainly get him some cologne. Nothing sexier than a man who smells positively delicious…
Oh, I agree about a good smelling man. 🙂
Congrats on the new release!!
No significant other, so I don’t have to get a gift 😉
Thanks. 🙂
My SO loves the TV shows NCIS & Castle so he is getting the latest seasons on DVD.
Oh that’s going to be nice!
Since I don’t have a significant other yet, I’ll tell you what I’ll give my dad: a T-shirt either with a cute papa bear and its cub and “Daddy-Bear” written above it or one with “SuperDad” on it with the Superman logo 🙂
Thank you for the great giveaway!
🙂 I like those!
I want to give my hubby some kind of new cooking something..He loves to cook and does all the cooking…> I will probably get some new knives or something for him!!
Gotta love a man who likes to cook. 🙂
No SO, so nothing to buy. 🙂 But I always buy myself something. Haven’t decided what it’ll be this year.
Hey, that’s something good to do. 🙂 I like it!
Happy Release Day, Donna! I haven’t read any of your books yet, but the above sounds great! I will have to go check them all out on your website. I am still trying to figure out what to give my husband for Christmas. I am thinking some Grill tools. He recently bought this Big Green Egg thing that is a smoker, grill, oven, etc and loves to use it. He doesn’t have a lot of extras so I might try that. Can’t go wrong with grill type tools, right? Congrats again and thanks for the giveaway opportunity!
Thank you, Amy!
And yeah, I don’t think you can go wrong with anything to do with the grill. 🙂
No significant other this year. About 20 years ago, maybe longer, my mother popped her cork and said that if we weren’t going to celebrate Christmas the right way, that was it. So, the gift giving stopped (there are no children in our immediate family) and truthfully, we’re all thankful for it. Those that are nearby still get together for a good meal, but that’s been tailored back too. None of us really like cooking(and especially not the clean up) and who needs appetizers, soup, an entree with 4 or 5 sides and multiple desserts?
A nice meal, talking and sharing time together makes it more enjoyable for all of us.
Sounds like that worked for y’all, Anne. 🙂
Also congrats on the new release! 🙂 (Hit submit too soon. heehee)
🙂 Thank you!
I love your books! Thanks for the giveaway! I can’t wait to read this book!
😀 Thank you!!
My husband and I are boring I guess. LoL 🙂 We don’t really exchange Christmas presents, we kind of go all out for the kids. However, there has been a few surprises along the years. :)If we were to exchange presents this year though I would get him a new guitar.
Happy release day, Donna!
Thanks, Crystal!
And there’s nothing wrong with that. 🙂
Not very exciting , but I’m giving hime fancy new flashes for his camera. He is an avid photographer and this is what he asked for. And he is getting a tablet of some sort, I just haven’t figured out which is going to be better for him.looking forward to checking out your books. Loving meeting new authors through other authors I follow so it introduces me to even more amazing books.
Sounds like a really nice gift he’ll enjoy.
Thank you!
Sadly I’m single so I don’t have a partner or hubby or anything like that. So I guess I can’t enter! Och well, another time then 😀
Kind Regards,
Michelle Louise Pratley
Scotland
You can certainly enter, sweetie! Your comment enters you. 😉
I would usually get something he wanted but never expected like one year I got him a Fiesta Bowl game that was a lot of fun to watch when the game was played so I got it for him on DVD later. I had find searching for things he never expected like that.
🙂 Sounds sweet, Larena!
<3 <3 Donna!
Hubby and I long stopped getting each other things for Christmas. With money limited we focus more on our sons. Gotta do whatcha gotta do to make the kids christmas a good one and pay those nasty bills. Then with our income tax returns we each buy something we want as a belated christmas gift
Sounds like y’all got it all worked out. 🙂
It is so hard to shop for my sweetie, but I think I got him something that is a gift not only for him but me too 😀 Turtlebeach headphones for the gaming unit. He loves his video games and this way he can enjoy them to his hearts content and I won’t have to hear it 🙂
Thanks for stopping by Donna and Happy Release day to you, love the series!!!!
Thanks, Michele!
Hi Donna 🙂
Love, love your books!!! Happy Release day on your newest, MIDNIGHT’S WARRIOR.
My husband and I do not exchange gifts anymore, once the kids came we focus on them. That is our gift to each other, watching the kids opening the gifts we give them.
🙂 Yay! Thanks, Angela!
And it is always so much fun to watch the kids opening their presents.
I love your books. I just recently was introduced to the Dark Warriors series. As for Christmas gifts and SO, I don’t have one so that’s one less gift to buy. 🙂
🙂 Thank you, Kelly!
You could always buy yourself something. 😉
Can’t wait to read your new book!!! I’m thinking of getting my husband a new iphone or droid…his cell phone is ancient!!!
Thanks! 🙂
That would be a cool gift!
I’m getting the hubster a camera – he uses mine all the time, and complains about it every time! With his own, I won’t have to keep showing him how to use it – I hope!!! Love your stuff Donna!!
lol. Good idea on the gift. Thank you!
I don’t have a significant other so I won’t be getting anything for Christmas.
You could always buy yourself something. 🙂
I don’t have a significant other.
I’ve got a Highlander or two I think you might like. 🙂
No idea, my husband keeps telling me not to get him anything, does not want to spend the money. But of course that only goes one way for him. He insists that he make sure I have a good Christmas. He does not seem to understand that the giving is just as good if not better than the getting
I hear ya! You need to make him understand that. 🙂
I’m still debating this. Most likely I will be getting him the bluetooth enable speaker set he wants.
That will be nice. 😉
He wants a new light to go coon hunting with so that’s probably what he’ll get.
Aww, those poor coons. 🙂
Love, Love, Love your series! Waiting impatiently for my copy to arrive so I can devour it in one sitting – then read it again. I’m giving my husband a romantic night away at a french hotel here in town.
Thank you, Joyce! And what a great present!
I always enjoy stories set in Scotland and find highlanders make wonderful heroes. They are awesome 🙂
Yes, I so agree. 🙂
no other this year so no having to figure out what to buy 🙂
meandi09@Yahoo.com
That’s a good spin on it, plus more $$ for yourself. lol
We usually don’t do much for each other for christmas eve but we did buy a wireless router as a gift to each other. Very romantic huh? =)
lol. Hey, sometimes the necessities are the best gifts. 🙂 Nothing wrong with that.
I don’t have a significant other so I guess I’ll spend the money on me! Books sounds good!
ehaney578 at aol dot com
That sounds like a great gift to yourself. 🙂
My hubby will be getting some new hunting gear for Christmas and I’m thinking some really nice smell good stuff…for when he’s not hunting!
lol. I like your thinking. 😀
He has had his eye on a new shot gun…? But he has been naughty.
Oh, a naughty boy, huh? 😉
