Back from the Beach!! Back to Blog

Okay, you probably didn’t even realize I was gone, did you? But, yep, I loaded up the fam and we snuck away for a few days to enjoy a last bit of beach fun before the cold(ish) weather slides in for the winter.

As we were driving to the beach (it’s only about a 45-minute drive), I kept staring at the small towns we passed and getting idea after idea for the Sci-Fi movie that I one day want to write.

You see, writing one of those B-Horror flicks that airs on Sci-Fi on Saturday nights-that’s a closet dream of mine. I LOVE bad horror shows and one day, I truly will write a screenplay. But for now, I just dream.

So, anyway, I was heading through the towns and here are a few of the ideas that I got for my movie:

Idea 1: There’s a place called “Alligator Alley” that boasts a “world-record” gator. I think his name is Captain Crunch. (I am dead serious here, people!). Anyway, for my Sci-Fi flick, I thought, what happens if the gator gets out? What if he goes crunching on the town’s folk? Or, what if the gator is “world record” b/c his owner has been feeding him humans? Ah, the possibilities!

Idea 2: Another little town I passed was advertising a “Honey Bee Festival”–and, with my Sci-Fi hat on, I thought–what if…instead of bringing in Honey Bees…there was a mistake and Killer Bees were brought to the the festival?! Panic would most definitely ensue.

Idea 3: It has bee far, far too long since there was a “Children of the Corn” movie. Time for a new one! As I gazed at those waving fields, I knew it was time for an updated Corn film–or maybe time to let a gator loose in those fields…

Eventually, we did get to the beach and I had to put my Sci-Fi stories on hold. 🙂

Now we’re back home (a bit early b/c my wee man got sick) and it’s time for me to turn my attention away from bad horror films and back to romance. I’ll be editing this week, and I’ll be return soon to let you know how that’s going.

Oh, but before I leave….

For the wonderful folks who have entered my recent newsletter ARC contest…

The response to that contest has been fantastic! Thank you! Because I have received so many entries, I’ve decided to give away two ARCs of A RED HOT NEW YEAR. The winners will still be announced on the previously listed date.

Ooh, your ideas sound fun! 🙂 I’ve written a couple of screenplays, and I gotta say…I love writing them. I just wish I had the time to write more!

Welcome home — hope wee man is better!
