Author Interview–Angie Fox Back to Blog

Today, New York Times best-selling author Angie Fox is my interview victim. I absolutely loved Angie’s THE ACCIDENTAL DEMON SLAYER last year, and now I’m eagerly looking forward to reading THE DANGEROUS BOOK FOR DEMON SLAYERS.  If you like funny paranormals, then Angie is the woman for you!

Angie, welcome to the blog!  (And, hey, if you want to get your hands on a copy of THE DANGEROUS BOOK FOR DEMON SLAYERS, be sure to comment. I’ll send one commenter this new release.)

1.    Please tell us a bit about yourself and the genre (or genres) that you write.

My name is Angie Fox and I’m the author of the Accidental Demon Slayer series for Dorchester publishing.

2.    Describe your current (or upcoming) release in 15 words or less.

Accidental demon slayer Lizzie Brown and her grandma’s coven of biker witches have rolled into Sin City to take out a super-sexy succubus who has her eye on world domination—and worse, Lizzie’s man.

3.    Okay, now use as many words as you’d like to describe your story.

The Dangerous Book for Demon Slayers is the story of what happens when you take a bunch of biker witches to Las Vegas. Well, it’s more than that, I suppose. Lizzie and the gang head to Las Vegas to save her uncle from marrying a succubus.

As she experiences all kinds of new (and weird) things in Vegas, Lizzie is determined, once and for all, to master her powers. In fact, she’s going to write the book on demon slaying. So she begins a journal, The Dangerous Book for Demon Slayers, where she records what she’s learning, starting with newfound discoveries about demons, gargoyles and a particularly mischievous live spell named Beanie who likes to fill Lizzie’s boots with pumpkin spice latte.

Things get dangerous when the demons get their hooks in Dimitri. He’s much darker and sexier in this book. And we introduce a new character, Max, who is half demon and 100% yummy.

4.    Which character do you like better from THE DANGEROUS BOOK FOR DEMON SLAYERS—the hero or the heroine?  Why?

Hmm…that’s hard. I’d have to say the heroine because I can relate to her. Lizzie is just trying to stay on track and do the best she can in an impossible situation. I think most women do that every day.

5.    What is the most challenging part of being a writer?

Finding time to write! I am the mom of two preschoolers. At first, I wrote books because it was something fun I could do just for me. I did it while the kids were napping. Then my books were published and I was suddenly a New York Times bestselling author and yet I still have that same few hours in the day where I write. It is a refuge for me, and I know that’s my little break in the day, but sometimes I wish the time didn’t go by so fast.

6.    In a fight, who would win…Dracula or the wolf-man?  What? This question seems odd? Please, folks are dying to know this answer.

Wolf-man because the fight is schedule for high noon.

7.    What’s your favorite scary movie?  Come on, spill.  No explanations—just name it.  Let everyone else guess why.

Shaun of the Dead

8.    Tell me the one thing you wish you’d known about being a writer, um, before you became  a writer.

If you fall in love with a story idea, be prepared to research the heck out of it. That, I personally discovered, includes stories about Harley riding biker witches, the tunnels way under the Hoover Dam and New Orleans voodoo.

9.    What is your writing schedule like?

I write every afternoon from about 2:30 – 5:00, or however long my small children nap.

10.    Tell me anything you’d like to tell me.

I’m a fun quiz addict. If there is a quiz to be taken, I’m on it. And for kicks and grins, I’ve even developed a highly un-scientific Are You Part Demon Slayer? quiz. Take it if you dare.

Thanks, Angie!

Update: The winner of THE DANGEROUS BOOK FOR DEMON SLAYERS is…Amy! Congrats, Amy!

Hey Angie – I took your demon quiz again. Today I’m 41% Demon Slayer – the other day it was 53% maybe I’m being possessed by a demon. Going Friday to get your book. Can’t wait to read it.

  2. Michele says:

Your book sounds great Angie! Definitely will be checking this one out, but is this the 2nd or 3rd in this series? Got to start with the first one 😉

Took the quiz, looks like I’m 53% demon 🙂

  3. Edie says:

Angie, what fun premises for your books! But I laughed at all the evil succubuses (or is that succubi?). Not like Cynthia’s succubus.

    I’m 61% demon slayer! I didn’t know I was so kickass.

  4. Cynthia Eden says:

  5. Angie Fox says:

Hi Greta! Too funny about your score. Must be an off day for demon slaying, kind of like a bad hair day. 🙂

  6. Angie Fox says:

Thanks Michele! These books are a blast to write. The first one is The Accidental Demon Slayer. The Dangerous Book for Demon Slayers is the second. I know what you mean about reading in order. I’m that way too. It’s one of the reasons why I designed these books to stand alone. Each is a complete story with a happy ending.

  7. Angie Fox says:

Thanks, Edie. Yes, there has been a succubi problem in Las Vegas for years. It’s part of what gives the city it’s charm. What happens in Vegas… But now they’re getting out of hand and that’s where Lizzie the demon slayer comes in.

And 61%! Congrats on being such a kickass demon slayer. We need to get you a pair of black leather boots and a Harley.

  8. Angie Fox says:
