30 Days of Demons, Day 23: Eternal Hunter Back to Blog

Okay, before I get to my demon talk, I need to do some updatey type info.
First up…I’m doing a writing round robin over at Romance In The Backseat. The first installment of White Wedding Nightmares was written by the fabulous Angie Fox. I took the second round. 🙂 And now, Michelle Rowan (an author I love) has posted the third installment. Check it out and let me know what you think.
I’ve also got a cover to share. ETERNAL HUNTER is the first book in my new paranormal bounty hunter series for Kensington Brava, and here’s the cover:

ETERNAL HUNTER will be a January 2010 release. And, while the book’s hero is a shifter, don’t worry, there’s a demon in the story, too. 🙂 Come on, I couldn’t leave out the demons, now could I? Zane’s the demon in this book, and I hope to begin writing a separate story for him within the next few weeks.
Ah…see, now on to the demon discussion!
One of the things I enjoy about demons is that, by their very natures, they *should* be bad. I mean, come on, when you think demon, you don’t instantly think great savior of the world, now do you? So for my demons–okay, for Zane–I’m going to create a character who fights his own kind. A hero who knows about the darkness inside of him, and he knows just how deadly that darkness can be.
The demons I’ve created for my stories aren’t evil. Well, not entirely. Because I don’t believe anyone can be entirely evil or entirely good. Myth might have set the demons up as the all-around bad guys, but I like to think the power of redemption is pretty strong. So my demons get a chance–a chance to prove if more than darkness waits inside of them.
Okay, I’ve rambled a bit. If you’ve read this entire post, then you deserve a reward! Well, how about an IOU? How about I give one commenter an IOU for the ARC of ETERNAL HUNTER? Ok, let me fan myself… I cannot wait for January! I have been dying to hear about your new series and now that I have, I can’t wait. So in this series, will the characters from book to book carry over, like you did in your Midnight Series? You said you are getting ready to start Zane’s story, will his be a stand alone or part of this series?

I love those demons…they are by nature so bad, but some have such unique and redeemable qualities that you can’t help but want them to have a HEA. It also doesn’t hurt that these demons are sooooo sexy and handsome.

love that cover and dang it girl you a big tease 2010. I am not a patient girl just ask my kids lol. I am worse than they are at xmas and this sounds great. That is a GREAT cover. Shifters are my fav type of paranormal, other than Demons…so the two together is bound to be a winner. Congrats on the cover quote by Christine Feehan, that’s sure to sell a few more books to readers who don’t already know your work.

The Bounty Hunter series sounds action pack! It has lots of mystery, excitement and very sensual. I can’t wait for your next series into the paranormal world. Just reading the excerpt on the Eternal Hunter gave me flash back about the characters in your book Midnight Sins with Detective Todd Brooks and Cara the succubus. Pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeee! Don’t make me wait until Jan 2010. I really would love an ARC of the Eternal Hunter.

I like your stance on percentages of evil/good in all of us. Even the supernatural have their ups and downs. I like the idea that even if someone’s a real baddie, if he’s got even 5% good in him he could be eligible for redemption in some way. Yay for happy endings! 😀

Love the cover! And I actually added this book a few days ago to my wishlist. Great to see what the blurb is though because to be honest, the book site I wishlisted your book at..it didn’t have a blurb. I just saw it was a book by you and that was good enough for me.
Have I read any books with demons lately? Well, the closest I’ve come was Lori Handeland’s Phoenix Chronicles. I finished book 2 “Doomsday Can Wait” off about a week ago. But “The Demon King and I” by Candace Havens is coming up soon in my TBR pile.
My question to you: How do you come up with these awesome stories and always manage to get the best covers too? Its a gift.

Thanks for all the comments, everyone! I absolutely LOVE this cover. When the Magnificient M sent it to me, I was thrilled. And the cover does this cool wrap-around effect and shows the hero’s cabin (on the edge of the swamp), so it’s really cool. (Willa, I wanted to lick him, too. My first thought was–wow, lickable abs!) LOL.
Now, let me see…I’ll try to answer all the questions I see, but if I miss one, just yell at me and I’ll repost.
First, Michele, check back with me in about 2 months because I *will* have posters then. I like to send out posters to the bookstores, but I’ll be sure to keep some handy in case anyone else (like you!) wants one. The characters in this series will carry over (like the Midnight ones), and right now, I’m thinking it will be 3 (maybe 4) books. Zane’s story will be part of the series, but I’ll write it so that if you haven’t read the other books, you won’t get lost. So, by being part of the series, I just mean it continues the “world” that I’ve set up for the paranormal bounty hunters. You’ll see the same characters, but Zane will be off having his own fun little (okay, big) adventure.
Chris, I have no idea who the cover model is. Do you know? Spill!!
