Resolutions? Um, what? Back to Blog

I haven’t made my new year’s resolutions yet.  Nope. Haven’t done it. Haven’t even really thought about them.

Seriously, this isn’t like me. Normally, I’d have a list of about ten items (or more) going by now.  But the last week has been crazy busy (I know you can all relate) and I’m currently scrambling to get promotional materials designed so I haven’t been thinking enough about my resolutions.  I’ve got to have some. I always have resolutions. I mean, come on, sure, I’ll break the resolutions within a month, but I need that month!

So, since I don’t have resolutions to post, I thought I’d do a year wrap-up with my writing.

In 2008, I wrote:

One novella

Three novels

2 Partials

And a pear tree…okay, no, that was lame, sorry!

One of the partials (3 chapters of an unfinished manuscript), I did for fun, but the other–well, I want to to finish it very soon.

So let me just go ahead and say what I want to write in 2009. Hey–these are my writing resolutions! Sweet!

1.  Four novels. I can do this. I know I can.

2. One novella. I love writing novellas, especially after I’ve written a 90,000+ page manuscript. It is such a nice change of pace for me.

Since Santa–um, okay, not Santa but my mom–gave me an Alpha Smart, I’m hoping to see my productivity kick up in 2009.  I’m going to start typing and see how far I can get in two hours time. No Internet breaks. No email surfing. Just typing.  Let’s see what happens.

So, at least I now have writing resolutions for 2009.  I’m on the right track!

What about you? What are your resolutions for 2009?

I hope you all have a safe and happy new year’s celebration.  I’ll be heading out with my hubby and some friends. We’re going to see the moon pie drop. Oh, yeah, I said moon pie. Dropping.  It’s a GIANT moon pie.  I’ll have more details about that–and probably some pics, too–later.

Happy New Year!!

Cindy, you did great in 2008! I failed so badly at my resolutions for 2008, all I’m going to plan for 2009 is to use my time better and set a writing schedule that I’ll keep. And of course I want to make every book better than the last (which I did do last year).

Have a fabulous new year’s eve and new year!

Hi, Cindy. Congrats on the Alphasmart. You’ll love it! Wow, 2008 was really super productive for you! Four books in one year is really ambitious, but I know you’ll make it. The Alphasmart with no internet connection will help. See you at Saturday’s meeting!

If you write 4 novels and put them out all in one year….I will love you! LOL That would be so awesome!! I love when authors put out lots of books in one year. So fun!

Azteclady, I hope you have a wonderful year!

Linda, I can’t wait to use the Alpha! See you tomorrow! Happy New Year!

LOL, Rachel, I’m gonna try. We’ll see what happens. 🙂

    Hi, Brandy! Happy New Year!!

Estella, I think I may have the same goal. Good luck to you!

Ah, Jess, you make me feel so much better!

  9. Hey Cynthia….I don’t make resolutions per say….but generally I’d like to get back into working out every day…I’ve kinda fallen off that wagon in the past few months and after weeks of over indulging…I’m feeling it! I’d also like to write most days….I won’t say everday because life does interfere from time to time….that’s about it really!
