Men & Their Cars Back to Blog
UPDATE: The winner of the contest is Diane Sadler. Please contact me at savannahstuart (@) hotmail.com (no spaces). Congrats!!
Thank you so much to Cynthia for letting me join her Deadly Days of Summer party! And congrats on her recent release, I’ll Be Slaying You! I recently joined the same local RWA chapter she belongs to and let me tell you, she’s just as fabulous in person as she is online!
Since she’s awesome enough to host a two month long party, I figured the least I could do is offer a giveaway of one of my books. This Friday, Power Unleashed, the third book in my Miami Scorcher series releases. It’s got suspense, romance, the paranormal, and a hot shifter hero known as ‘the enforcer’. A nice combination. In honor of that, I’m giving away a copy of Unleashed Temptation, the first book in this series. The series can be read out of order but for better reading pleasure, I recommend trying Unleashed Temptation first.
What vehicle a person drives can say a lot about them. Of course this isn’t always the case, but with some romance heroes, it matters. Their car, truck, or motorcycle is sometimes like an extension of them. My hero, Nick Lazos, from Unleashed Temptation loves his car. And who can blame him? What’s not to love about a 1968 Dodge Charger? Even the name is hot. Charger. It just rolls off the tongue. I can hear the heroine from Unleashed Temptation saying ‘I’d like to get it on in the backseat of your Charger’. Okay, she probably definitely wouldn’t phrase it like that but still, the name ‘Dodge Dart’ just isn’t as sexy. The first Charger came out in 66′ and despite having a lot of success in NASCAR, sales were crap that year and the next. However, in 68′ they restyled the Charger and forever changed the history of this fine vehicle. Curvy body, less chrome, a 440 Magnum engine…um, yes please. It’s no wonder sales quadrupled that year.
This muscle car is masculine, fast and perfect for outrunning bad guys. Not that Nick actually has to outrun any bad guys in his story. No, he doesn’t run, he stays and fights. But he’s got the option and it’s going to take another skilled driver with an equally awesome car to catch him zooming through the streets of Miami in that car. I’d say his chances of getting away are pretty good.
What’s your favorite muscle car? Or what’s your favorite vehicle in general? And what does your favorite hero drive? Does it reflect his personality? Answer any one of these and be entered to win a copy of Unleashed Temptation! I’ll announce the winner Tuesday morning (7/13) in the comments section. Good luck!

My fav is the Mustang… I love the mental image of the horses running. The Camaro comes in a close second and I will actually be getting my very own at the end of the month – rawwwrrr! 😀
Thanks for coming on Cynthia’s blog! I’ve never read any of your books, but now that you’ve been on i def will! I’m not really a car person, i lean towards the motorcycles. But my favorite car is the jeep. Something about it. My favorite hero drives a crotchrocket motorcycle. Enjoy your summer!!
Miranda, I love Mustangs too! The hero in my release next month from Ellora’s Cave actually drives one (it’s a 67′) 🙂 They’re such hot muscle cars!
Hi Taylor! Thanks so much for stopping by. Jeeps are definitely fun, especially to take to the beach or go camping!
Hi, Savannah!! Thanks so much for blogging with me. And wow–your books sound great! You had me at “Enforcer.” 🙂
My first ‘hot car’ was the Trans AM (think Smokey & the Bandit)… then it went to the 65ish Mustang… but now it’s the Camero… I just lust after it 🙂 But alas, I don’t like driving them… prefer my big truck or suv.
My Heros… gotta be a bike or a hot car or even a jacked up/tricked out truck 🙂
I will have to check out this series!
It’s hard to beat the Dodge Charger as a muscle car, but my favorite is a hero who drives a pickup truck. Just something very masculine about them. A Jeep is also sexy and of course, so is a Mustang. Having read some of your books I can honestly say I loved them.
Thank you for having me, Cynthia! 🙂
You’ve had some pretty sweet cars, Susan! I’m a bit jealous of the Mustang 😉
I love those pickup trucks too, Wynter. My own man drives one, lol! Definitely masculine.
I didn’t realize you knew so much about cars! And I love how you link the heroes with a sexy car because it just manages to make them even more alpha.
My current favorite is the 67 Impala, thanks to Supernatural. Also, I love the Dodge Challenger. My brother had a 68 Firebird that he sold to put his wife through school. The 66 GTO is gorgeous, too. I absolutely love classic cars!
I agree, the car is a part of your personality. My favorite muscle car is the Ferrari. It was always the Mustang when i was younger. My girlfriend in HS had one and we REALLY had lots of fun in it. I have no idea what my hero drives – I love Larissa Ione’s Wraith – but she’s never mentioned him driving. Being a demon vampire I’m sure it’s fast.
I think a Mustang is my favorite. Although, I’m a big fan of guys riding motorcycles too.
‘Guest’ (sorry to call you that, lol, your name didn’t show up!!) It does seem to make them more alpha, doesn’t it!
MJ – That’s my hubby’s fave car too, also thanks to Supernatural. I’m pretty sure he’s got a man-crush on Dean. (not that I blame him!)
Viki – Ferrari’s are smokin, though I don’t know that any of my heroes would drive one (never say never though!). The Mustang is always a winner and I can only imagine what trouble you and your gf got into, lol.
Casey – Yep, love motorcycles. There’s something about all that power between your legs 😉
I really do not know very much about cars!! I know they are alot of nice looking sporty cars on the road. We had a Trans Am when we were younger. I have always liked the look of the Mustang, so my hero would show up in a Mustang:)
I was raised around old muscle cars… camaro’s, malibu’s, skylarks all 60’s models.
My favorite of the 60’s has always been the Impala… and – like MJ mentioned – thanks to Supernatural, I love the Impala even more. Sexy man, sexy car! (Yeah, I’m one of those “Dean” girls.)
As for trucks… nothing is sexier then either a dodge pick up on a lift kit with big mud tires or a black Avalanche with dark tinted windows… Yeah, I’m a little bit country! 😀
My heroine is more prone to drive a Avalanche and my hero would likely been driving a 68 Malibu SS.
Savannah, I don’t blame your hubby at all! Dean is irresistible! 😀
Hi Savannah,
Definitely going to be checking your website out tonight when I get home. Your books sound great!!! You said next Friday the third in your series comes out, how many are you planning for the series? Tonight when I get on I will see what the series is all about, but you just talking about Nick has me hooked 😀
Favorite muscle car for me would have to be the ’69 Camero. I know they tried with the new Camero that is out now, but nothing beats the original 🙂
Thanks for stopping by Savannah 🙂
My favorite car is the Firebird Trans Am. Now this is one fast car and I should know 😀 My brother went to Germany and I got to babysit it, LOL.
I have two favorite muscle cars, baby blue ’66 mustang and the other red and white ’53 corvette. Loud and proud machines 😀
I am not really into cars… that is more my sister’s area! I do enjoy NASCAR though… 😉 Motorcycles are cool, both my dad and grandfather had one…
Judy, Mustangs seem to be a pretty big favorite with everyone so I think we’re onto something 🙂
Suzy, five years later and I can’t decide if I’m a ‘Dean’ or ‘Sam’ girl! I’ve tried to choose but find it impossible, lol. Ooh, and I like Avalanches. One of my fave Linda Howard heroes actually drives one.
Thanks Michele! I actually just realized that when I pre-posted this blog I said next Friday but Power Unleashed is actually out this Friday. Oops!
Angela, I’m surprised he got that car back!
Amy, another Mustang lover! Yay 🙂
Colleen, motorcycles are just as cool! I’d probably be worried about helmet hair all the time if I had one 🙂 Guys don’t have to worry about that though!
When Michele pointed out I’d listed my release day as next Friday I realized I’d also forgotten to update the day I’d be drawing the winner of the contest. I had pre-posted this blog but was accidentally double-booked so I moved days. I’ve gone ahead and changed the blog but I’m also letting y’all know here that the winner will be chosen tomorrow!
My favorite vehicle is the Toyota Corolla because my friends and I have survived a lot of adventures in one.
I’m not to smart when it comes to cars–but I’ve always wanted a pearl white Escalade!
I don’t know much about the classic muscle cars, but the Mustangs have always been hot! And I have to agree that motorcycles have always captured my fancy, but the whole helmet hair thing is less cool–oh, that pesky safety thing! 😉 Congrats on Unleashed Temptation!
Hi! I’m not that into muscle cars, but I am into exotics. Right now, I like Maseratis. They’re not as flashy as a Porsche (especially a Carrera) so I think of them as stealth sports cars. Of course, I also a list of cute cars which includes: Volkswagen New Beetle, Mini Cooper, Audi TT, and Porsche Cayman (but not the Boxster).
I like Ferraris more than Lamborghinis, but I don’t think any of them as cute.
That’s a really cute choice, Jeanette and I love your reasoning behind it!
Thanks Fedora! Yeah, safety before glamor…I suppose 😉
Hi Cories. I don’t know much about the exotic cars but I like your list. And I really like the new Beetles and Mini Coopers. They’re adorable.
Some of my favorite heroes drive Lincoln Navigators with tinted windows!
Chelsea, I missed you! Sorry 🙂 Escalades are pretty sweet too! Nice choice.
Tracey, you and Chelsea are thinking along the same lines! In my romantic suspense stuff my heroes tend to drive SUVs and Navigators are so smooth looking.
I am so loving your blog I had to share it on my own. I am a big fan of Nascar and am counting down the days on my blog until I make my annual pilgramage to the track. Great post.
I don’t have a favorite car, so long as it gets me where I need to be, I’m happy; but seeing a hunk in a truck, all that power etc. is very very nice.
I love the car that the Winchester boys drive on Supernatural. That 1967 Chevy Impala suits them perfectly….and it’s so sleek, with a strong engine, and built for speed.
I am going to have to go with the new Mustang. 🙂 I love the power of the V8 engine in them. 🙂
Thanks for sharing it Darlene!
Men and trucks go together very nicely, Diane 🙂
Joder, yay another Supernatural fan! Maybe I should do a blog post about the show and only share pictures of the Winchester brothers 😉
Thanks for stopping by Larena! I think the Mustang is the big winner of today.
And now, I’m off to bed so sorry I won’t be leaving any more comments but there’s still time to enter the contest! Thank you to everyone who stopped by. I don’t think I missed anyone but if I did, I apologize 🙂
This is so funny. We had a Dodge Charger and a Dodge Dart. The Dart was a convertible and I liked it better than the Charger. Other than that, I don’t have a fav car. We’re looking for one now, and it’s taking forever to find the right one.
I’ve always liked mustangs and camaros. Corvettes are pretty nice too.
In the winter of 1971 I was going to buy a car. My first choice was a used Charger. But my dad and a family friend went looking for a good deal for me. They picked me up and said they found a car and negotiated a great deal. Was I suprised when it was a brand new 1971 Camaro. There has always been a special spot in my heart for the Charger, but I LOVED my Camaro. Have you seen the brand new Camaro? It is so Hot. If I could get in and out of it, that would be my next car.
I love the look of the mustangs. But for me i always wanted a cute bug car.I know I’m so girly.I like the heroes in books that have motorcycles
